Great review, G. I too feel the same way about the Vegetarian options, but was pleasantly surprised with the Vegetable Lasagna I just reviewed. This Cheese Tortellini looks nicer though ;-)
Thanks Kiwi Dude. It's been a long time since I've had the veggie lasagna, but I believe I recall enjoying that one too. The pasta dishes seem to "hide" the fact that they're meatless better than other ones. Especially when they add the "vegetable sausage crumbles"!
It appeared that the peelable bag was yet another improvement. The cheese tortellini and the Ratatouille are my favorite vegetarian MRE entrees. Both are more flavorful than some of the meat varieties.
Hmm, good question. Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to try out very many international rations (maybe ask Gundog4314 and Kiwi Dude). From what I have tried though, and from the reputation, I'm thinking I might go with the French military. Those RCIRs are a class act!
I recently got some 24Hr ration packs from Xmre and my only complaint was that they didn't come with any trail mix type things, apart from that the MREs were good
MrDeath2094 I'm looking forward to trying out XMRE's 24 Hour rations at some point. Kind of surprising that they'd NOT include something like the raisin nut mix.
I think the next big improvement in these ration packs will be printing the contents on the back of the bag. In the mean time, the sticker will work just fine :) . BTW, I still can't believe actually enjoyed the chicken feta...eew! ;)
Nolan scott Yes I do. It just seems like it would make for a boring video to show me eating for another 10-15 minutes after the review is complete. But I really don't like to waste food. I suppose if I REALLY don't like something I won't eat that, but I haven't found many MRE components that I don't like at least a little bit.
Well you and Kiwi Dude have always tasted these MRE's at the comfort of your home and all the vessels. Have you ever tried eating the MRE the way it was meant to be eaten...that is without any dishes and utensils and out in the wild?...And like the soldier, the only utensil you have is the canteen cup! Can you do such a video?
I love xmre. I grew up eating the actual military ones my uncle would get from his national guard base in town. We would have at least 50 to 100 at a time in our house. Take them on hunting trips, camping, bullshitting in the mountains, etc. But anyways; Xmre are a BIG step up from original military.
fff I think they were looking for some sort of "niche" or something. While they're still called XMRE they seem to have backed off of the whole "Extreme" thing.
SpartanWoodchuck Generally a unit (a squad, platoon or larger group) would be issued enough MREs for the size of the unit. It would probably be a case or multiple cases. Once they're opened it's usually every man for himself. I'm sure someone could request something specific, but if it's a popular item there'd probably be others interested in it as well. From my experience it was usually you-get-what-you-get. Of course you could always try to trade with someone!
Matthew Rauber We'll have to see. I'd imagine that a genuine WWII ration would be very rare, hard to find and expensive to buy. If I got my hands on one I might be tempted to hold onto it as a collectible. I'm sure it wouldn't be likely to be edible anyway. Check out Gundog1434's channel for a look at a reproduction WWII ration. It's quite an impressive item.

xmre's are the best civilian rations in the us. bought multiple cases of them.
I wish the Airborne used these. I hated the regular MRE's.
I always get a small thrill when your videos pop up in my subscription feed. Please keep it up!
You make every MRE look good even if they don't look good.
Can the dry fruit mix be reconstituted?
Seeing your videos show up in my subscription box is a real treat. Watching your videos is so relaxing. Keep 'em coming! :)

If you had to join a countries military due to what rations they have, which one would it be?

You, Gundog4313, and Kiwidude should do a joint vid or something over skype with the same ration
How much does a more cost from xmre
how much do you get them for
Why don't you slide the entree from the top of the folded FRH? It gonna make life much easier...
Are u allowed to chose ur mre
They misspelled vegetable (1:26)
Have you ever come across any MRE's that you have videos of that were gross or that you found not edible?
Wow. This looks really good. I always thought it be full of veggies but its just good ol' cheese pasta. I always avoided it but I think I'll try it.
I was thinking the same thing.
dunno why but these peanut butters always makes me hungry for some reason even thought it's something i always have...
Were you in the service or do yo just like MRS?
He was in the Army i believe. He said it in one of his vids a while back.
WHAT NO TP? Guess I gotta use the left hand method.
Looks so friggin good, I bet you enjoyed much as well :)

gschultz9 yea apart from that they were pretty good. the ones i had all had maple muffin tops and lets say i want more of them

You should do a review on mountain house
Jack Monty Stay tuned...
What would one eat in the military if they were vegan?
do u actually eat it all after the recording is done
Nolan scott Yes I do. It just seems like it would make for a boring video to show me eating for another 10-15 minutes after the review is complete. But I really don't like to waste food. gschultz9 cool i got 9 at my house im 11 so i think its awesome.
Great, I hope you enjoy them!
Nolan scott 9 and 11 illuminated

Vikas Sheth Check my video titled "MRE Basics: Just How 'Ready to Eat' is an MRE?" I think that might be along the lines of what you're looking for.

Why did they name it extreme MRE?
fff I think they were looking for some sort of "niche" or something. While they're still called XMRE they seem to have backed off of the whole "Extreme" thing.
Have you served in the army?
Soy Sauce Ichthys Yes.
gschultz9 Oh. Thank you for your service, sir, and thank you for your videos!
Thank you for the kind words Soy Sauce!
In the army do you ask what type of mre you want?
SpartanWoodchuck Generally a unit (a squad, platoon or larger group) would be issued enough MREs for the size of the unit. It would probably be a case or multiple cases. oh ok thanks!
IDUNNO MRGHOST
I have an FTX soon. I will be eating these as well as maybe seeing a good friend from the last FTX. so exited
I like how you make look good
it seems you found a rock or something
Why are MREs bad for you?
cus they are filled with preservatives...they last forever... do you know anything?
I'm talking short term, if they're bad, why does the Military require you to live off them?
You must have tons of MREs
If anyone is looking for the freshest MRE meals to buy i don't think you can do better then XMRE.
"That's good."
Awesome new vid
U couldn't have watched the whole video
Darin Div i did'nt I was excited for a new video, I probably should have used correct grammar.
Josh Glasberg i am typing on my phone so i don't always get correct spelling or grammar because i type fast.
Excited for a guy reviewing mres? He's good, but I mean why? You probably wanted to be "first" but didn't wanna say it.
Why are you commenting on this still and idgaf if im first its a comment on youtube. And i enjoy these videos so imma dip now peace.
Can you try to get a ww2 ration?
Matthew Rauber We'll have to see. I'd imagine that a genuine WWII ration would be very rare, hard to find and expensive to buy. On a rock or something.
Nice rock or something!

TheRandomBananaz™ And "U" to you too!
Is there any Dairy free MREs?
