Wow! We have a fish stew dish in Bengal which is basically fresh water carp fried and then stewed with potatoes or different vegetables. It’s called ‘maacher jhol’ and we have it with rice. In Bangladesh, they make fish biryani which is s rice pilaf with fish. This dish seems an amalgamation of the best of both these dishes. I can imagine how spectacular it’s going to taste. We, Bengalis also love to add fish head fried in mustard oil in our fish stew. We even cook lentils with fish head. I am drooling at the screen right now! 😊😊😊

You didn't add the fermented snail & dried fish? Can you substitute those ingredients, because I love the funkiness they add to the dish.

I’m in the rural US and unless I catch the fish myself, I won’t be able to get whole fish and won’t have fish heads and tails. I know that they add to the flavor. Will my dish suffer because I will only have filets?
