41:02 as a teen growing up ignorant of this slur, i thought that was the idea, "since vampires can't blush they're asking to mock him for being half human"
As a human hasn’t hit that time stamp and gone decades I am curious and awaiting a new (hopefully interesting, creative, an technically not that offensive) slur
I think Blade saying "Are you kidding me?" when they arrived at the Nightclub was more of "Another god damn rave?" more than him being surprised. Kind of a reference to Blade 1's rave in a sense. That's at least how I saw it.
Blade one was amazing. Loved it in 1998. Still love it now. My theory on why Frost didn't become a full blown God is because he was only a half breed. The prophecy required a full blood vampire for it to work. That's why so much emphasis alluded to Frost being half human. However one small line could of cemented this as cannon but it never did.
Or he was a god and it just didn't matter. The being he was would have been a god to vampires of the past, he's invulnerable effectively and none of their weaknesses work on him. The only thing that stopped him was modern medical science which he had no counter for and wouldn't have existed the last time the ritual had been completed.
It also feels very on point suprisingly,Although it'd be rare for comic blade,I can see him cracking some jokes or snappy bullshit every once in a while

Ice skating up hill was absolutely the best one liner in a long ass time. Sides, Snipes' delivery is too damn good. No one can play an edgy character like Snipes can.
I'd love for you to cover the Hellboy movies in the future because I honestly think they were two of the best comic adaptations I've ever seen. Oh and the last one too I guess just to see where it went wrong.
I agree! Also, I want to say that I would really love to see a crossover comic, cartoon or movie with Supernatural, Blade, and Hell Boy. That would be awesome!
I would like to see him talk about Hellboy 1 and 2 as well. We could get Rob as Del Toro again. And that 2019 Hellboy would be great for a review. He needs to cut that movie a new butthole.
37:08 If I've learned one thing from HEMA channels like Shadiversity: that is called halfswording and it's a real, legit technique that's primarily used for anti-armor (essentially you are using the hilt, especially if it has a crossguard, like a warhammer). Granted, you probably want some decent gloves when you do it, and these guys didn't really have armor so here it's just to show off, but still.
You're thinking of the mordhau grip, also known as the murder-strike. Halfswording is where one hand is holding the hilt and the other is grabbing the middle of the sword in order to stab better with it.
06:35 If I remember correctly, in the dvd commentary they said that the relationship talk was on purpose out of place. They just thought it was funny to have a soap opera discussion with a smoldering vampire on the table. It was supposed to go nowhere!
Out of all three of the Blade movies starring Wesley Snipes; I'm sure it's universally agreed upon that Trinity was the worst one hands-down. It had the worst script just to start; not quite regarding the established canon from the previous films. Blade was called reckless by Whistler for killing that familiar, but in reality; it was pretty stupid when you consider the fact that Blade thought he was a vampire. You know; despite the fact that he was limping away from the car and coated with his own blood. Why this is important is because the first Blade movie established that Blade could tell the difference between an human and a vampire by the way they move and the way they smell. This implies that humans and vampires have completely different scents that Blade would be able to smell the difference easily, and as for movement, vampires never limp; especially when trying to avoid being staked through the heart. To put it another way; Blade should have known better, but because the script called for it, Blade killed a guy in full view of everyone and a camera that was recording the entire event. The only thing that the guy had that would make one think that maybe he was a vampire were a pair of fake fangs; which Blade would probably only see if he got real close to the guy.
I think if you shot a vampire in the knee they would be limping for a while; they're not bulletproof. And as for the scent thing, I guess it could be argued that familiars start to smell like their masters just from being around them a lot.
@@ThreadBomb Vampires have been established in the Blade movies to have a remarkable healing factor. Unless the damage comes from garlic, silver, sunlight or EDTA; a vampire have easily endured the pain and run as though nothing happened. It's part of what makes vampires so tough to kill without their primary weaknesses being exploited. And FYI; the guy wasn't shot in the leg. The car he was in was flipped upside-down and crashed into a pole. He was limping because he got injured from the wreck; which makes perfect sense for an human climbing out of a wreck, but not a vampire climbing out of a wreck. A vampire should have been able to resist the pain and make a run for it, but the guy could only limp away from the crash.
If anyone was wondering, it's implied the only reason Frost/LaMagra was able to be killed is because Mercury cocked up the ritual by killing that one elder. 11/12- not legendary.
Explaining his line at the end of the first movie: Deacon Frost is trying to elevate his position as a vampire, which is a cursed being; "ice skating uphill" insinuates his efforts towards godliness will be futile and unredeemed in the end.

I really don't understand the problem people have with Ron Pearlmens introduction in Blade II. I mean, yes. It was a racist slur. Obviously. But... I mean... he plays one of the bad guys you aren't supposed to like. And this one line nails this 'Ok. I can't stand this figure' perfectly. It's the most bang for the buck, to convey that this character, in fact is an antagonist.
Since Blade was introduced to me in 1998 I fell in love with it . Blade is the type of character who will never take the 12 step program because his stuck in one emotion.
Fun fact: the shirt Scud wore had the logo for the B.P.R.D. from HELLBOY, del Toro's next movie. And the Blade Trinity ending I remember is Blade on the autopsy table shapeshifting into Drac, then dying again, then cut to Blade on his motorcycle riding off into the night.
I have to admit that before watching this review I had never heard the racial question "Can you blush ?", so during this scene I was just confused as hell.
21:34 They likely just manifested there during the ritual, using the vampire council members bodies as makeshift portals of sorts. What I can’t wrap my head around is why Frost’s girlfriend killed one of the council members. Yeah he made her mad but I don’t think killing off a sacrifice needed for the ritual is beneficial for your plan. Why was he brought there? As a back up if one of the other sacrifices died earlier on? To See someone you’ve always seen as a nuisance rise again as a Vampire deity? ……I’m putting too much thought into this, I need some coffee.
44:30 The problem is that you can see him stop moving before they show the flip. You could make it look ten times better just by cutting about 1/4 of a second of footage.
i sooooo love that WELL SHIT in the 47:07.....I've been rewinding it(I'm that old) last dozen times and cant stop laughing...especially Malcoms face 😂😂😂😂
Hilarious take from Nostalgia critic. Something I never understood about the Blade universe was why the vampires didn't make more day walkers. They clearly knew how Blade became a day walker, his mother being a vampire and all. They were certainly callous enough to engineer the scenario. The obsession with Blade makes less sense when you consider that they could have created their own "day walker unit" loyal to the vampires.
@@ThreadBomb Then they shouldve explain it. We can come up with a thousand Ideas why they couldnt create their own daywalkers, but its the movies duty to explain it. But tbh honest i don't realy care that much about such Details, the only thing that is important for me is that the character-motivations make sense and thats the case here.
Real shit thats was always my number 1 issue with the entire blade universe as much as i like his character. How the hell were none of these vampires smart enough to try having frost bite a group of pregnant women to see if they could have their own blades😂
@@legendofawwsheet5883 I mean...they probably did? Only problem is that a day walker ages at the same rate as a normal human. If Blade is the only day walker to exist before this then it would take like...another 15 years before another one is grown enough to be used?
1:10:42 are we not gonna talk about the fact they had to CGI Blade opening his eyes because Wesley Snipes refused to open them, not agreeing with the ending of the film….epic
"Does nobody care a guy with a sword is slamming a cop's head into a car?" Late 90's metropolis? Nah, everybody just assumed the cop owed money to some heavy. Best to mind ya bizness.
@@austinallemand1882 hmmm it seems to me that snipes and the director of the movie were not in good terms and snipes just wanted to annoy/bother him (it's not exactly that but smth like that)
The ending for Blade Trinity was different than the one I saw where it was Dracula on the table as Blade, but he was dead. And the virus didn't kill Blade at all but he kept on fighting the remnants of vampires that were still running around. Apparently. Idk, it was still just as confusing.
As for the ending of blade three, I remember it as: shot of Dracula lying there, FBI come in, and then it's Blade lying there instead. You're supposed to realise Dracula shape shifted into Blade.
Regarding Blade's reaction to Whistler dying: he's kinda like Batman, in that he assumes that everyone is eventually going to die and leave him alone. He's beyond the point of caring since he's had too much heartbreak in his life. Killing vampires is the only thing that gives him any sort of happiness, which is why he reacts like a child when he impales Quinn into the wall.
Blade 2 and Whistler: I always (or at least after Blade 2 came out) assumed Whistler passed out before he could shoot himself. Gun still goes off, he still drops it to the floor. Blade doesn't go back to check on him, he has things to do, suck-heads to kill. I also don't remember the version of Blade Trinity that is shown here. When Blade is in the interrogation room, there are several cuts that are not in any version of the movie that I have seen (both DVD and modern streaming) and the ending is Dracula takes Blade's form so Blade can get away.
Is that... HEATWAVE from The Flash as Dracula? Paired with Triple H, Ryan Reynolds, and Patton Oswald in the same movie? What even is this movie? 1:11:51
1:06:23 It looks like he quickly moved his hand because inappropriately placed it the 1st time😅 1:12:42 Rob, Jim Tamera, Malcom & Barney must have walked in at that moment🤣😂😍😂

It's the most bang for the buck, to convey that this character, in fact is an antagonist.
yea i made me immediately go "I can't wait fpr blade to slice him into ribbons" the second i heard that line, but like you said, thats the point
Since Blade was introduced to me in 1998 I fell in love with it . Blade is the type of character who will never take the 12 step program because his stuck in one emotion.
The "blush" insult I do agree. Making out if he's fully vampire or human etc. Being able to walk in the day.
28:26 I shit you not, my boss received the exact same "trophy" last year for something good he did at my office. That's hilarious tbh
Doug reviewed the extended edition of Blade Trinity.
I have to admit that before watching this review I had never heard the racial question "Can you blush ?", so during this scene I was just confused as hell.

They likely just manifested there during the ritual, using the vampire council members bodies as makeshift portals of sorts.
Blade: i dont like you
Deadpool: he never did
I absolutely love that del toro reused the blade 2 vampires in the strain.
I freaking love this movie. If I could go back and live in the 90s, I would. Man I miss the 90s.
In this case, Burton hugging Deltoro is just brotherly love.
I think they would have worried that the day walkers would take over and wipe them out.
@@tonysmith9905 thats still a retarded issue cause had they tried that theybwouldnt have need blade to be alive for movie 2 to make copies
18:21 So nobody gonna mention thats MJF from AEW's theme song?
That 2 minute meeting skit was very accurate.
23:12 God i still can't get over on that Ninja Gaiden part *IT'S SURPRISINGLY FITS*
Lmao
i feel critic should've looked up the alternate ending for trinity it made more sense than the weird ending he saw.
Let's just remember that at one point in Blade 1, vampires just put on sun screen. Greatest concept ever.
23:48 I thought of this (& the jokes) when watching Deadpool & Wolverine...
I watched Helsing I know a Ghoul when I see one. 20:30 he a ghoul.
I remember how the review of the second one came just after they announced the reboot and it wasn't even planned
1:10:42 are we not gonna talk about the fact they had to CGI Blade opening his eyes because Wesley Snipes refused to open them, not agreeing with the ending of the film….epic
You combined the classic reviews into one video...
Well Blade, sir.
There’s another ending where Dracula just takes Blades form, then turns back while still be dead allowing Blade to return to the shadows.
"Does nobody care a guy with a sword is slamming a cop's head into a car?"
Late 90's metropolis? Nah, everybody just assumed the cop owed money to some heavy. Best to mind ya bizness.
That opening sketch might be the best piece of satire Doug's ever written. I put it on just for that.
at 1:10:43, blade's eyes are cgi because on the set, snipes refused to open his eyes
Why didn't he want to open his eyes?
@@austinallemand1882 hmmm it seems to me that snipes and the director of the movie were not in good terms and snipes just wanted to annoy/bother him (it's not exactly that but smth like that)
@@fudzyfudzy6586 ahh okay
Apparently Whistler was originally created for Spider-Man: The Animated Series. The more ya know
The ending for Blade Trinity was different than the one I saw where it was Dracula on the table as Blade, but he was dead. And the virus didn't kill Blade at all but he kept on fighting the remnants of vampires that were still running around. Apparently. Idk, it was still just as confusing.
I'm here from the future to tell you that Del-Toro's Pinocchio is great!
As for the ending of blade three, I remember it as: shot of Dracula lying there, FBI come in, and then it's Blade lying there instead. You're supposed to realise Dracula shape shifted into Blade.
That's the ending I remember too. Drac shape shifted into Blade as a gift to buy him time to escape.
You are describing the theatrical cut. Doug reviewed the director's cut.
40:05 is my favorite NC/Malcom quote ever
Dude, even with Udo Kier not playing a sinister role like Doctor Straub in WWII: Zombies, he is a SCARY LOOKING GUY!
57:41 Holy shit, young Daniel Molloy at the start of his vampire investigation.
I think the reason they only show the Powerpuff Girls in Blade II is to promote the Powerpuff Girls movie that was coming out later that year.
Doug, you and your crew. Sorry bad in names. NEVER stop these vids!
Fun fact. The set for Blade Trinity final battle became Atlantis for Stargate Atlantis.
Just a quick note that the toy Bat in the first film (11:26) was a cape accessory to the Morbius toy from the Spiderman animated series.
This makes me really miss the days when they had little skits in between Nostalgia reviews.
Ngl
Early nostalgic critic was crazy funny
I mean his funny still but back then his humour was truly funny
45:52 love when that music comes on
MJF theme @ 18:21 for the wrestling fans
Is that... HEATWAVE from The Flash as Dracula? Paired with Triple H, Ryan Reynolds, and Patton Oswald in the same movie? What even is this movie?
1:11:51
1:12:25 Thanks to Blade Trinity. Critic then knew how to respond approbriately to his next review.
1:06:23 It looks like he quickly moved his hand because inappropriately placed it the 1st time😅 1:12:42 Rob, Jim Tamera, Malcom & Barney must have walked in at that moment🤣😂😍😂
I would 100% be down for blade to make a comeback. Guy with the a sword that kills vampires, badass
Well do I have news for you
Soon my friend, soon.
they are making a reboot
Dude, he's coming back, Mahershala Ali will be playing him in the MCU, his voice was heard at the end of Eternals
Sadly, it's unlikely Disney will let us see the gore necessary to do justice to the character.
