Ha ha, I actually heard this the first time on a public domain copy of "Phantom of the Opera" (1925, starring Lon Chaney) that I had on VHS in the late '90s! I actually thought the tone of this piece matched the tone of the film really well! There is a dark beauty even in the suspenseful moments, or as the Phantom called it, "an ominous undercurrent of warning"!
Same, but online in 2006-07! I was disappointed when my DVD copy had different music because this was THE Phantom of the Opera score as far as I was concerned.

Unpopular Fun Fact: Schubert were best friends with Mozart when this symphony was composed and then became copied as Mozart’s alternative 8th Symphony but it’s still Schubert’s normal + unfinished 8th Symphony.

Честно говоря, я не поклонница Шуберта. Предпочитаю в классике музыку в стиле "адажио". Поэтому у Шуберта слушала "серенаду" и "Аве Марию". А вот симфония 8 чем-то зацепила. Пытаюсь слушать и другие его симфонии. Не всегда успешно: слишком шумно.
