Franz Peter Schubert (1797-1828) was an Austrian composer of the late Classical and early Romantic eras. Despite his short lifetime, Schubert left behind a vast oeuvre, including more than 600 secular vocal works (mainly lieder), seven complete symphonies, sacred music, operas, incidental music, and a large body of piano and chamber music.
Born in the Himmelpfortgrund suburb of Vienna, Schubert showed uncommon gifts for music from an early age. In 1808 he became a pupil at the Stadtkonvikt school, where he became acquainted with the orchestral music of Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. He left the Stadtkonvikt at the end of 1813, and returned home to live with his father, where he began studying to become a schoolteacher. Despite this, he continued his studies in composition with Antonio Salieri and still composed prolifically. In 1821, Schubert was admitted to the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde as a performing member, which helped establish his name among the Viennese citizenry. He gave a concert of his own works to critical acclaim in March 1828, the only time he did so in his career. He died eight months later at the age of 31.
Appreciation of Schubert's music while he was alive was limited to a relatively small circle of admirers, but interest in his work increased greatly in the decades following his death. Mendelssohn, Schumann, Liszt, Brahms and other 19th-century composers discovered and championed his works. Today, Schubert is ranked among the greatest composers in the history of Western music and his work continues to be admired.

I found myself once in front of Schubert's , Beethoven, Brams, Mozart's tomb in the centre cemitery of Vienna Austria, That was the most amazing feeling in my life.I couldnt believe I was right next to the most geniuses musicians of the history at the same time.

Most of them are only memorial monuments there. At least Mozart`s grave is in the St Marx cemetary somewhere else in Vienna.

This compilation is the trunk of nostalgia for many. Saudade is defined as “a melancholic feeling due to the distance from a person, a thing, a place or the absence of pleasant experiences already lived”. It is important to state that saudade is a feeling that is not necessarily bad from a psychological perspective. We only miss you because we live in that time. Emotion, on the other hand, is an immediate reaction to a competent emotional stimulus, that is, it is related to something that moves you, which can cause a pleasant or unpleasant feeling. (Google). Soon today will also be missed.
The same feeling in Mozart's house where he lived 1785-7, and composed so many great things...and just walking through downtown of Vienna knowing that Mozart was walking also there...
It's May 2024. No matter how many times I listen to it, I never get tired of it. I like this composer very much!

This composer is Way underrated!! He ranks with the very greatest composers of all time. Incedible to think he composed all this glorious music before dying at age 31..I love Schubert! I listen to this all the time...

I don't know what gave you the impression that he is underrated. He is by general admission one of the greatest composers ever to have lived. That last year of his life when he poured the last measure of his genius out like a shooting star must stand as one of the most remarkable events in whole history of western music!
i often try to imagine what he would have composed had he lived to 70. the more i try to play schubert on piano, the more i realise what a true genius he was, he takes a sometimes simple theme and creates an incredible soundscape.
Not in the least bit underrated! A famous genius, and most people know it!
And Beethoven said Schubert had “the divine spark”.

Schubert was my assistant today for my math. I love the energy he displays sometimes, contrasted alongside his more expressive and meditative works. His music truly does shimmer. There are a good number of these works that I do not believe I have been entreated to yet. It is a joy now to hear them. Thank you, Halidon, for providing such exuberance and elegance to our homes.
We strongly approve of the use of the verb "shimmer" applied to Schubert's music - we wouldn't have thought of it but it perfectly renders the idea ✨ And what a pleasure to know that we've played a part in introducing some new pieces to you!

Schubert's compositional legacy is enormous, apart from songs, it includes 8 symphonies, 15 string quartets, over 20 piano sonatas, cantatas, masses and other religious works and a dozen or so operas.I't really hard to imagine how it was possible to compose all this at just 31 years old.
He hits me the hardest out of all composer's all by 31 is mesmerising
Imagine what he could have done with another 30 years of composing. Simply the best.
