This was a breath of fresh air. Sometimes I get overwhelmed when Joe has on professors, scientists, or journalists. This episode was fun and easygoing.
RoZ you are right, i am interested in the cross section - hidden gem vloggers would be nice but as ever it is just the establishment that is catered too and for......
Wowww, how strange is that Chris Cornell comment? Just two weeks later and he's gone. But this interview is incredible. Shirley is such a wonderful force. I'd love to be her friend.
Na dislikes are relatively minor compared to the most recent Moshe Kasher, Abby Martin, and Steven Crowder. It's just a shame this probably won't make a million views
Why dislikes are so important? I'm not being ironic or something, I'm really asking. Do they actually impact the views of a video? And how? Anyway this video ha dislike for every 10 likes, and that's a horrible ratio... I really can't understand how can someone dislike this but that's another matter.
I have listened around a hundred podcast and this one is one of my favourite. I'm 41 Years old, I knew Shirley Manson because of Garbage but I didn't know how fun she could be. I really love her personallity. Thanks Mr. Rogan for the podcasts.
Haha, certainly cant argue with that but he's a pretty interesting dude, very funny plus I think that Joe would be absolutely able to handle him. So get him on! ;) And salute to the irish folks here. ;)
When you talked about Marilyn Manson on the start I was thinking that he would be a pretty perfect guest at this point. You should get him on the show.
Niall Coughlan that would be a great podcast. Have you ever checked out Frankie Boyle's chain reaction podcast with Grant Morrison or Kevin Bridges? they're kicking about on TH-cam and well worth a listen.
Scots are very down to earth compared to the English, who are engaged in a never ending class warfare where they always want to believe they're better than others.
One of the best podcasts from JR - they obviously had great chemistry together - she's smart and inquisitive and so is Joe so the both of them just brought out some of the best stuff from each other. I learnt things about Joe that I'd never heard about - same with her. Sometimes I feel like the guests just want to talk about themselves - I think this is a man thing actually.
So last summer, I got a gig serving beer at a Garbage concert. What I noticed was that everyone seemed to be there for the opening act the Luminers. When Garbage came on lots of people were leaving, I turned to the guy next to me and said, what has happened why is there no loyalty to these band? This band was huge in 1996, he said that is how younger people are now when it comes to bands. I was surprised to see this, because I know as a metal fan the fans of that music would not act that way toward a classic band.
completely different generations and crowds of music. although that sounds like a hell of a double bill... disappointing the young kids missed a killer band.
corm1000 They stopped releasing good records and the gap between albums was far too long. Waiting seven years for a record which aspires to mediocrity is disheartening. Repeating that is career suicide. Really they stopped respecting their audience. Shirley wrote some great lyrics (after the ones on Version 2 which were ropey) and then she got lazy or uninspired. I think the lead off single to the last album was 'Empty'. You have to use interesting imagery to make a song about feeling bored and disenchanted compelling. But it was so very dull. She's still a very good singer and she's a good interview, but her band can't write a good song anymore; her band can't write a decent album anyway. They've been over creatively for 15 years.
@ corm1000 Cool story, thanks. I'm not a big fan of her music except a few songs, but she's awesome when interviewed. Kind of shitty to walk out on her in concert like that. Check her out on Craig Ferguson and Craig Killborn(?) talk shows.
Since the issue at hand I started dabbling back into Garbage not that I ever stoped. But started watching and listening to everything Garbage and Shirley.. She fascinated me years ago from the first when I was 35. Now at 60 I can honestly say I'm still obsessed. Even more on an artistic level. Shirley and the band are just timeless perfection.. Just brillant..
to think that the lead singer of the band i used to listen so much to when i was younger, turns out to be such a wonderful, elevating, radiant personality as well. lovely conversation. already one of my favorite JRE's.
Joe needs to get Mike Tyson on here. If there on guy in the world who gots some crazy stories, its him. He could be easy to get a hold of since he is good friends with Dana White but I dont know how that procces would work to be honest.
+Mitch Conner Its differently possible. Like I said, him and Dana White are tight with each other and he's a big fan of the sport. Plus, since he likes to do a lot of interview where he talks about his career, the podcast would be perfect for him.
I don't even know how bussie he his these days. What we can all do is ask for him like how we did with Alex Jones. Lets all just keep asking for him and we'll get him.
This episode is a great example of a guest that I didn't even realize I wanted to see on the podcast but turned out perfect. You should have her back on again in the future, Joe!
Searching through episodes. Saw "Shirley Manson". Could not click the video fast enough. I fucking adore her so much. Beautiful, talented, funny, and seems like a joy to be around. What a woman.
Hey Joe. The conversation with Shirley has been both open and challenging, and for me, a confirmation of sorts.... . You both spoke your truth with perspective, respect, patience, humor, no judgement, timelines and an acceptance of the human journey through which we find something more within.

I’m living in Aberdeen, Scotland right now! We’ve had a sunny spell for the last 5 days now and it makes me feel weird having so much sun. The rain and cold are comforting conditions for me.
I don't know anything about Manson except in an interview the interviewer asked him what he would tell the kids of today. He replied that he wouldn't tell them anything, he would listen instead. Always liked him after that.
Massive Garbage and Shirley Manson fan, "Garbage" was literally the first CD album I bought back in the 90's, listened to it until the i6 pits degraded. Listen to JRE every day at work. My fave episode yet.
Isn't it ironic that someone like Shirley, who is in her early fifties and didn't do any of that botox/plastic surgery shit, looks younger, more vital and more normal than most of the people who did?
Please Joe. Get her back on ASAP! Great podcast. You're epic and Shirley is Awesome too. Great Chemistry!
Your comment should have more likes.
Shirley always gives a good interview
Shirley has the most wonderful laugh.
Maverick D some would say scary
was thinking the same, then thought I'd review comments quickly to see if someone already mentioned.
I was gonna comment same...what a laugh 😂
absolute, JIMNSHO
A filthy and Scottish laugh.
damn shes still looks good for 50.
thats what not having kids will do to you
kelsodelroy Ok, explain Heidi Klum then.
She's about Joe's age. They both look good.
yup
Oh G100, that last line, LOL!
Wish that episode was twice as long. Great conversation, lots of humor and obvious chemistry between Joe and Shirley.
Shirley Manson is such a legend
Scott Parkins Legend: The lead singer of a briefly popular 90's rock band and an occasional tv actress. Legend. Ok.
Shit. We gotta call Webster and let him know the definition has changed. To the batmobile
its this participation trophy generation that considers everybody a legend
DrNickRiveria Seemingly.
Scott Parkins Lol she said Marilyn Manson I fuck with him he's a best
Just discovered JRE. I've been under a rock. I love it.
They're truly Powerful
Nicodemis Finch welcome 🙂
too bad you're tuning into JRE towards the horrible era of it.
WELCOME
Nicodemis Finch
just beware of the sad angry kids in the comment section.
This has been one of the best interviews in a while. Shirley is a legend and Joe actually made this podcast enjoyable.
Shirley looks gorgeous!!!! She hasn’t aged a bit! Love her!!
Wowww, how strange is that Chris Cornell comment? Just two weeks later and he's gone. But this interview is incredible. Shirley is such a wonderful force. I'd love to be her friend.
knives0ut wanted to hear some Nirvana stories
they have great conversational chemistry
B Cannalla really? I felt it was awkward and forced the whole time... But what do I know I haven't spoken to another person in 17 months
lol
B Cannalla I liked how she ended up interviewing him
chuckorily what's your secret? I can't get away from people!
beephex1 ugly...b.o.... mood swings.
I think I'm in love. Her accent drives me crazy in the pantelones
She's a cool person. This was a good podcast.
But of course some miserable out of luck shitfucks would dislike this video.
And how? likes and dislikes go into youtube algorithms to decide whether a video is well received or not and whether to promote it on people daily feed or not.
I have listened around a hundred podcast and this one is one of my favourite. I'm 41 Years old, I knew Shirley Manson because of Garbage but I didn't know how fun she could be. I really love her personallity. Thanks Mr. Rogan for the podcasts.
Joe is so talented at making guests open up. you can tell the comfort grow as Shirley allows more of her accent out. Great interview!
Please get Marilyn Manson on the show. That would be awesome
Kiko Dantes man what the fuck has that comment to do with Ireland haha
Kiko Dantes il give it a try 🇮🇪 🍀 fuck yeah dude that does feel good!
Kiko Dantes haha man fuck them flat earth saps why even entertain them? I wanna hear Prince Phillip for ep 1000 ha
Haha, certainly cant argue with that but he's a pretty interesting dude, very funny plus I think that Joe would be absolutely able to handle him. So get him on! ;)
And salute to the irish folks here. ;)
and too full of tequila
When you talked about Marilyn Manson on the start I was thinking that he would be a pretty perfect guest at this point. You should get him on the show.
It might end up like the Doug Stanhope Podcast with Manson.
I'd love to see frankie boyle and joe in the same room
Niall Coughlan that would be a great podcast. Have you ever checked out Frankie Boyle's chain reaction podcast with Grant Morrison or Kevin Bridges? they're kicking about on TH-cam and well worth a listen.
I don't think Joe and Frankie are on good terms. He's stated in the past that Frankie was very hostile towards him.
Thats not hard to believe... Pity, would be a hilarious podcast i'd say
he's a comedian, an entertainer. if you take anything he says literally your a fool. his stand up is hilarious that's all that counts
I love Frankie Boyles comedy but as a person he always comes across as preachy and self-righteous
I could listen to her read the phone book and love every moment.
I had the biggest crush on her growing up. What a beautiful person.
Thanks Joe!
This was one of the most satisfying JRE podcasts. Shirley Manson is utterly and completely charming. Could listen to the both of them talk all day.
She's cool
and flirty :p
Leroy Gallagher the moment she said you might be my next husband... I was like "oh shiiiiiiiiiieeeeeee".
Scott Monson she's very down to earth surprisingly. Europeans are great aside from some posh British areas lol
Scots are very down to earth compared to the English, who are engaged in a never ending class warfare where they always want to believe they're better than others.
1984LizardKing Exactly, working class Scots are too fucked up on heroin and Tennents super to give a shit.
Didn't expect Shirley Manson on JRE! Cool interview, really enjoyed.
Bring her back again. I love that lady.
OMG i cant stop laughing when she says "google it bitch" to him
Shirley "Google It Bitch" Manson. 1:11:24.
OMG !! TOTALLY RIGHT ?! GIRL POWER FTW !! WOOT WOOT
#ONPOINT #FABULOUS #MOREPLEASE !!
She is amazing. I have adored her music for 20 years. Butch Vig - genius. Thank you for this.

She’s needs to come on again, one of my fav interviews, one of my fav bands.

Shirley Manson has not aged more than five minutes since 1995. Go, Shirley.
What?!
Jonathan Malec not sure about that
No mate, she's starting to hit the wall.......
I'm looking at the CD inner sleeve. she has definately aged since 95
She’s still fine!
Shirley Manson is amazing. Intelligent and pleasant. Of all the female guests Joe hosted, I must say she's the only one who hasn't annoyed me.
It's ok to disagree with people, no need to call them retards.
LOL, I'm pretty safe here mate, thanks for worrying.
Bmam Chu You're pathetic as fuck, dude. Find a fucking hobby or something
This was a very chill, fun podcast.
I've always loved Garbage but I had no idea how amazing Shirley Manson is as a person. I could listen to her talk and laugh all day. Every day.
Always love Garbage. Your songs got me through alot of shit back in highschool and grade school. Rock on Shirley.
I think Joe Rogan just made a new "bestfriend". They vibed so well together

one of the best podcasts ever :) she is funny as hell, thanks.
45:07 He gives an amazing description of how much love you give as a parent. I'll remember that one because I completely relate to that.
When I was in school I adored Shirley. I'm 32 and nothing has changed!
What a beautiful, passionate, smart, witty and funny girl. I'm melting here.
I love her laugh 😁

Strange, isn't it? They don't even give it a fair shake. No respect, no loyalty.
completely different generations and crowds of music. although that sounds like a hell of a double bill... disappointing the young kids missed a killer band.
corm1000 I like how you think, and if it weren’t for Garbage...a lot of these other bands wouldn’t exist, they copped their style
corm1000 They stopped releasing good records and the gap between albums was far too long. Waiting seven years for a record which aspires to mediocrity is disheartening. This ep has set off such a Garbage revival for me now. Shirley is so down to earth and a real sweetheart
Shirley’s so amazing and so is garbage! So happy u had her on. Garbage was the opener for pumpkins in ‘96 and they were great!
20 years in the US and she still has the most beautiful Scottish accent😍🏴
Guess who just became a Shirley Manson fan. This lady, moi.
7:50 and here we see Mr Rogan being hit on by one of the most significant artists of the 90s. Hats off for you sir. Great episode by the way.
She makes Rogan nervous lol
Antonio Alvarez he has the hots for her
I like her too.
Well, she is one of those Liquid Metal Based Terminators
Do you blame him lol
She'd make any straight guy nervous.
I love Shirley Manson. Endlessly intelligent and maybe the best laugh of all time
I may not agree with her politics, but goddamn her music is btichin, and she is entertaining as all hell. I really loved this show.
Cro what does she say about politics?
@Michael I think Cro is referring to her position on genders and gender expression or whatever.
Michael Watson The mention of new world order these celebs I swear.. and if you listen she hinting about socialism
code guy saw her last night so I can see what you mean, she wasn’t too obnoxious about it though now that I think about it
to think that the lead singer of the band i used to listen so much to when i was younger, turns out to be such a wonderful, elevating, radiant personality as well. lovely conversation. already one of my favorite JRE's.
I absolutely love the energy between these two. I think Shirley is a wonderful person.
This lady is awesome

+mike m. Its a tie with him and Dave Chappelle for the 1000 episode of the podcast.
I don't even know how bussie he his these days. What we can all do is ask for him like how we did with Alex Jones. Lets all just keep asking for him and we'll get him.
hasn't every mike Tyson story been told?
Joe needs to get Tim Allen and Mike Rowe on the show
That.... would be a great show.
dude tim allen thad be dope!! thumbs up for tim allen
TIM ALLEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think so Tim
Fz-07 Rider Home Improvement Tim Allen?????
This was the one of the best podcasts in a while. Can't deny the chemistry these two have.
This episode is a great example of a guest that I didn't even realize I wanted to see on the podcast but turned out perfect. You should have her back on again in the future, Joe!
I didn't know she was, but i fucking love her.
Shirley is badass
She used to own my spank bank back in the day.
Randy Monster still owns mine.
Searching through episodes. Saw "Shirley Manson". Could not click the video fast enough. I fucking adore her so much. Beautiful, talented, funny, and seems like a joy to be around. What a woman.
One of my favorite guests...so down to earth.
Great interview.. Rogan seemed a bit scared about the other Manson, though. Give it a go and bring Marilyn to the show , Joe. He's a clever guy.
Great interview Joe
I've had such a crush on Shirley 4 the longest.
I've been a fan for a long time, but this was the first long, conversation-style interview I've seen with Shirley Manson. That was fantastic.
one of my favorite podcasts always loved shirley shes very down to earth.
Shirley Manson. My gods, my fantasy came true. What a legend!
joe, i came to cut you up i came to cut you down i came here to tare yr little world apart..and break your soul apart. Love you Shirley.
Great guest. Need Marilyn Manson and Reznor immediately
Joseph Corsaro TR would be a dream guest!
trent would be amazing to have on jre but i doubt he has the time or would want to come.
This is true. Trent seems to loathe interviews/talking about himself. He is a very private dude.
Hey Joe. The conversation with Shirley has been both open and challenging, and for me, a confirmation of sorts.... . You both spoke your truth with perspective, respect, patience, humor, no judgement, timelines and an acceptance of the human journey through which we find something more within.
I didn't know who Shirley Manson, but her energy is contagious, and her accent is bad ass. She is super charismatic as well. Enjoyed listening.
lol wtf...most random guest ever. Love Shirley.
Joe could smash. 100%
Jack Torrance lol instead of drinking all that haterraid, get a life so you don't have to talk shit about someone to make yourself feel better.BITCH!
C C males are predisposed to spreading their seed. It is the product evolution. When a male says he wants a woman or that he thinks she is into him he is hoping, dreaming, imagining, the fulfillment of that evolutionary urge. There really isn't anything odd about it.
The only odd thing I see is you being angry and insulting to the human animal. What has put you on the path to hate and pretentiousness?
C C what's your issue? Are you poor? Are you lacking in status to the people around you? Are you unhappy with existence itself? Your disposition is poisonous.
OMG I LOVE Shirley Manson! I used to tell people I was engaged to her when I was in high school. Yeah, I was THAT guy.
best guest EVER. love her honesty and her LAUGH>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>..
I’m living in Aberdeen, Scotland right now! We’ve had a sunny spell for the last 5 days now and it makes me feel weird having so much sun. The rain and cold are comforting conditions for me.
I like how Shirley starts interviewing Joe. lol
Awesome podcast. Random as fuck. This is why I subscribe to JRE. Unique good conversation with interesting good people.
I think I'm paranoid 🎵
Myles M I'm only happy when it rains 🌧
Myles M I'm Only Happy When It's Complicated... like being able to say black people but not red people white people but not yellow people..
Shirley seems like she has such a wonderful soul, hilarious too haha.
The chemistry and vibe between the two are so off the charts! Great podcast.
I love deep conversations, philosophical talks, and scientific discussions. Can you please get Lil Wayne the podcast?
Mike N I giggled. Seriously though get that little guy on.
Young moolah, baby!
Mike N Omg I would love that so much.
Mike N I like how he's your profile pic too
that would be awesome! With Alternative media being on the rise a lot of big names have been coming like Guy Richie! I'd Love to see Wayne on here
A conversation between Joe and Corey Taylor would be fucking incredible!
Shirley was feelin' Joe... might have been mutual lol. Very playful vibe from both.
Love Shirley, one of our best exports.
I don't know anything about Manson except in an interview the interviewer asked him what he would tell the kids of today. He replied that he wouldn't tell them anything, he would listen instead. Always liked him after that.
Corey Taylor on the JRE please :D
Another person telling Joe to get to Edinburgh for the Fringe. I hope he listens, would love to see him in Edinburgh.
His standup isn't funny though. In fact it isn't even standup comedy. He just tells stories.
Your statement suggests no awareness for subjectivity at all.
A bloo bloo bluh bluh smartey man words.
Electrical Love Sure JR loves the idea of a fringe.
Dude, get Dave Grohl in there! I would guess that he rode a crazy alt wave thing. Seems he's a fun guy too.
Massive Garbage and Shirley Manson fan, "Garbage" was literally the first CD album I bought back in the 90's, listened to it until the i6 pits degraded. Listen to JRE every day at work. My fave episode yet.
Such an enticing interview. 2 years after it was filmed and I find myself watching it like it’s brand new! Get Shirley back on sometime, Joe!
Love her laugh! :D
Isn't it ironic that someone like Shirley, who is in her early fifties and didn't do any of that botox/plastic surgery shit, looks younger, more vital and more normal than most of the people who did?
her forehead didn't move... she's probably had some botox.
Shirley is so down to earth awesome interview
Shirley Manson is still bangin'! And she's got a great personality and a fucking dirty sense of humor... HOLY SHIT! A UNICORN!!!
version 2.0 was a belter of an album. you guys rocked in the 90s. big up
