I just love how most of the playstyles we know nowadays comes from WotLK. Sure thing there are weird stuff like survi hunter, but overall instant pyros, dual wield 2h, chaos bolts, shadow dance, starfall and moon/sun resources, lava burst, wolfs Soo many of the core playstyles for classes started in WotLK

I have two memories of warriors in wrath. My guild leader saying “Deacon’s doing something stupid” when he was bladestorming and a prot warrior coming into a pug at Arthas and topped the dps meter.
A prot lvl 70 warr started a duel against my enhance shaman the other day on the wotlk beta. He charged me and shield slam + revenged me in 2 sec. 5k revenge crit. I mean 😒

I have a family member whos played prot war since he started in TBC. Tanked raids all through Wrath and has always done and amazing job. Can't wait to play wrath with him tanking for me in Classic!
yeah... prot warrior is eclipsed by prot pally and blood DK in wrath because of the spell damage everywhere. Besides, those other classes are just vastly more fun to play.

I had so much fun playing prot Warrior. Excellent tool kit, once you got some gear there wasn't much you couldn't handle. I loved tanking heroic dungeons and early raids
I'm super stoked to try warrior tank in WOTLK! Started WoW for the first time when Classic relaunch launched with a different class but once my warrior hit 60 I was madly in love! Now I hope to round off the trio of Classic, TBC and WOTLK on it :D
i played a warrior all through WotLK and it did a great bit of work. I loved my character. I have a top level mage nowadays, but, my Draenei warrior was the most fun I had ever playing the game during that time. Just an all around great build, back when talent menus could be customized like they should be...

When leveling as warlock in TBC, I was in deep destro and tanks, especially warriors, absolutely LOVED when I used Shadowfury since it give them so much control. Apparently they loved it so much that Blizzard has just decided to give to them in form of Shokwave.
I loved the rotation of Fury in WotLK. The 4-second cooldown on Bloodthirst with the 8-second cooldown on Whirlwind had a really nice vibe to it with BT-WW-free-BT-free-free. The Cataclysm rotation didn't work for me, with the change to 3 & 6 second CDs. BT-WW-BT-free was a soul-killing march of 1-2-1-2-1-2, in contrast to the lovely little waltz in 3/4 time with a few more free cooldowns for things like maintaining shouts. Add in the way Heroic Strike used to work outside cooldowns? *chefkiss*

I was juggling the burst window through Judgement and holy power sustain with execution sentence on my ret pally in Legion while not missing the beat on my procs with a 0.78 gcd OUT OF WAR-DRUMS. That is 5 buttons consistently pressed in a sequence with the 3 additional skills embedded inside (discounting avenging wrath) Wow did not become an engaging game till MoP class designs.

Glad classic and classic tbc are finally behind us and we can now enjoy the good times that were Wrath. I levelled a prot warrior back in the original, but have decided to go Fury because I've mained a melee for the last decade. lvl 72 and it is surprisingly satisfying to play Fury epsecially once I got a pair of blue axes.
Poleaxe also got 5% to crit damage which is great. Sword spec isn’t rip though, even with the icd, it got double the proc rate. Maybe not the king, has competition now but I wouldn’t be like “Do not use a sword because it sucks”. With the greater number of attacks you do now it seems to be more reliable than it used to be, but all the weapon specials are now more passive bonuses instead with sword being the only proc left with a more reliable proc as well.
I’m leveling a warrior with the exp buff. Getting to about 60, and waiting for prepatch. Titans grip is one of the best things they’ve done in WoW. You can also put a shield on, and tank tbc and wrath leveling dungeons easily with titans grip, which I will 100% be doing.
just go prot for lvling. the damage prot does is way beyond anything arms or fury can do from lvl 1-80. revenge scaling is just insane, especially in the lower lvls where you can basically onehit mobs and players with revenge crits. and if you can get the heirloom trinkets, which heal 2% each for every kill, you just pull big groups and end the fight with 100% hp.
Prot war is really good off tank due to the mobility and utility. The tree you show is the dungeon/main tank tree. You choosing some talents fromthe fury tree make you better assisting and the intervine is really good in high damage abilities to tanks. Is high cap but is able to do anycontent.
I remember playing TBC Protection Warrior and then getting the WOLK Talents. It was like night and day. There was this Warlock who loved to duel me and he always won. On patch day, I duelled him. His reaction of "holy fuck" and never ever dueling me again was satisfaction. I am tempted to bring back the tank warrior to WOLK but I have decided against it. Protection Warriors had their high point in WOLK imho.

Because it obviously got clunky. There was like an identical 2 minute introduction before each video explaining why it was instead named "how broken is it now?". Much cleaner keeping the name of the series and just finishing it off in Wrath
Warrior thoughts from a seasonal private server Andy: (pve perspective), before watching the video Dps: average as ArP isn't all that common till the toc tier, then it becomes godlike because ArP is insane. In the first tier I recommend arms as it bring nice utility to the raid and does more than fury when you don't have bis gear. Note: rogues should be assassin in the first tier, because its stronger, so the %physical dmg boost for the raid can be provided via Arms. And the healing reduction from mortal strike is useful in nax due to a few encounters having healing mechanics and you shouldn't expect your guild to be the best, because they aren't, so reducing the consequences of imperfect gameplay is only logical. Recklessness: heroic strike + blood thirst followed by whirl wind. whirlwind will consume 2 charges of the 3 if they don't fix it, so whirlwind on the 3rd charge when you're fury. Tank: Solid choice throughout the expansion that has more defensive's than any other tank. I'd note that in ICC you don't benefit as much from the icc buff as other tanks do which is part of the reason why people look down on prot warriors in that tier. Though in Ruby Sanctum nothing mitigates the damage of the whelps better than a prot warrior does period. Watched Video: 10:45 "mainly good for the extra threat" Willie's high off his ass. The taunt reset is what really makes vigilance shine. Warbringer macro (all 3 charges in 1 button for prot): #showtooltip /cleartarget [dead][noharm] /startAttack /castsequence [harm] reset=15 Charge, Intercept; [help] Intervene; /script UIErrorsFrame:Clear() Make sure to select the red question mark icon so the macro will show auto change the icon to whichever spell is being cast.
Pally probably will be definitely OP in this expansion for sure . Warrior kinda suck on AoE tanking ( dungeon ). Their 2 tools for Aoe tank are Thunder Clap and Shockwave
@@thinhso ehhh if you’re good it’s not an issue…unless you’re planning to dungeon farm with 3 mages aoe farming then it won’t be much of an issue unless your team is just brain dead.
@@thinhso Warriors are the single best aoe tank in wrath. Thunderclap hits like a truck, so does improved revenge which hits three targets, and ofc shockwave hits hard too. The biggest source of aoe comes from their Damage Shield talent which makes them do 20% of their block value as damage to a target ANY time they are hit by (or block) a melee attack from them. Warrior aoe being ass is vanilla/tbc, in wrath they are #1.
i remember fighting Arms Warrs in pvp stacking stam sockets late game to boost their hp pool to insane numbers combining blood craze and second wind to almost outheal incoming damage. Being a rogue relying on stuns wasn't fun knowing it would proc second wind x)
Im planning on going Prot, I played it originally and while there are many instances where you have to work to get the same results as a pally that was part of the rewarding game play of it.
TFB, Improved Slam & Sweeping Strikes being moved to arms where they belong, 10% arp on battle stance, Charge in combat, Rend actually does damage and I'm 99% sure they did something with the rage formula in wrath because it feels like I've got more to spend (or maybe it's just because of TFB). Either way I'd say arms warrior received the most qol changes out of any class/spec in the game.
Minor correction but the Damage Shield talent doesn't do thorn damage only on blocks, it does damage on any melee attack that connects (not dodged/parried/missed). The builds and glyph choices overall aren't optimal for either spec but I guess that's not the focus of this video.
I know it’s a real question, but it’s hard to think people didn’t know the absolute unit that warriors were in wrath, especially in pvp, I mean it was so strong you could literally stack armor pen in full pvp gear and still do enough dps in raids, was absolutely ridiculous at times, not to mention how good prot was, wrath truly felt like a golden age for a number of classes, but warrior and pally got that beautiful treatment, came up as gods among men
@@darianwells9191 The only problem is that its gonna be flooded with these classes, warri, dk, rets etc. Youre gonna drown in a pool of competition for gear and raid spots (even if you can bring a lot of them). Good luck ever getting shadowmourne if you dont have a guild set with your on top of the priority list and really having time to go hard. I started in wrath back then but was obviously garbage bc i just started playing the game, so i was always bitter about missing out on how cool fury warrior was in the second half of the game and shadowmourne. But i will likely not be able to change that now still lol.
I love Fury and very excited to dual world 2 handed weapons now. It may not be as strong as arms for PvP but definitely gonna have fun with it regardless
I fondly remember a discussion I had with our PvP Officer (Arms Warrior) in WotLK that Fury Warrior is also extremely strong and viable in PvP if you know what you're doing even killing Arms Warriors without problems. He laughed at me and challenged me to a duel. He died in the Intercept Stun because Recklessness, Bloodthirst / Whirlwind / Heroic Strike and already he was in Execute Range - It critted. So I basically fourshot this dude while having worse gear. My GM who witnessed the duel immediately degraded this dude and made me PvP officer.
I'd 100% take the Recklessness nerf knowing I can use it on every single boss fight (assuming no wipes) rather than having to plan ahead on bosses I intend to improve my parse on. It's absolutely gutting when you pop it and then end up wiping though without being able to use it for half an hour too.
Prot Warriors were really good off-tanks back in the day. I've mained a Warrior since actual vanilla and it stayed my main all the way up until now, and with Vigilance, the mobility, the better AoE tanking, etc., etc., for WotLK prot warriors excelled at off-tanking. Slap Vigilance on the main pally tank during boss fights to help mitigate the damage they take while you either deal with ads or build up secondary threat, and so if a healer doesn't do their job right or the tank gets 1 tapped by some ability you have all that bonus threat they've generated for you ready to go so dps doesn't have to let up any.

you really should have added a "rotation" section in all of these video's. Some people like to know which specs are easy or hard. Which specs have least buttons to press and which specs require a lot of buttons/macro's and weakauras lol
Played an Arms warrior during WotLK. Never got Shadowmourne, probably never will. But I think this was the best the class ever got when it came to play style and rotation.
Arms warrior was awesome to play in cataclysm. It was also super strong in the second half of the expac in PvE. Only class that could annihilate mages in the dps meter.

I got once into the top 10 of all classes on worldoflogs (whatever was there before warcraftlogs became popular, forgot the exact name) because arms warrior was so strong. Our first kill of Morchok HC (first boss in dragon soul) was on rank 1 for arms warrior for 2 1/2 months despite relatively shitty gear (and slam on #1 in damage, when all guides put slam even below heroic strike in priority at the time). My guild was only ranked world #30-50 but i there were recurring attempts to recruit me for page 1 guilds just based on my logs by reaching out to me ingame. I am not stating this to I am not sure if you know exactly what you are talking about? This is just weird. For some reason you want to convince me that my statement is wrong because i was most likely a bad player without knowing anything about me? Arms warrior was aside from mages the best DPS class in the game towards the last quarter of the expansion even in single target (and thunderclap rend spread + bladestorm put them S-tier for AOE on top of amazing cleave with sweeping strikes upkeep + deadly calm etc). I really am not entirely sure why you are saying what youre saying. The concepts you discuss are not entirely wrong, just out of place in this comment section for some reason. I stopped playing during Heart of Fear in MoP, but i was definitely not "incompetent" in cataclysm.
Based on what we’re seeing in the beta they aren’t much better than what pserver folks were saying. My hunch is that by phase 1 BiS they will be okay dps instead of dogshit…. And obviously if you’re an above average player in a mediocre guild you’ll perform much better relatively.
I did say it back before TBC was released that warriors were great in tbc and the doomers never played actual tbc endgame.. So many people telling me I was wrong. Hilarious how this turn out with knowing from blizzard servers vs playing on meme servers with meme coding.
I played wrath on my warrior when wrath was current back in 2008-2010. Good times, I miss them. I was Fury and Protection. At the end of wraith my damage was nuts. My aoe damage could spike dps charts at 40k-60k. I would sometimes pull threat off of bad tanks when I really went nuts on the dps. I used to warn tanks in randoms, are you sure you have threat? Then I tanked too, since a good tank was hard to find and it made for an instant que for the daily dungeon finder. In the group I played with on WoW and ran dungeons with, we always ran the dungeons as hard and fast as possible and would try to see who would get to the top of the dps charts. I usually ran with a priest, paladin and a hunter, then either a dk or some other caster.
I disagree, I very much enjoy playing warrior but unfortunately it’s very hard getting into pug groups as generally DPS as fury is still lacking behind most other classes
You dont go fury subtree as arms pve, you go prot with incite its way better especially for cleaving. Since execute was nerfed back then its not wrorth anymore to take the talent
Always hated TG as a warrior. Low drop chance for 2h and DKs being the dominant class meant you were really unlikely to get an upgrade for your weapons.
I like that tbc cleansed the bad taste in your mouth over warriors. Coming up to tbc it was "ha-ha! You aren't going to be wanted now FINALLY!". This time it's "look, you might be okay... Just don't take what people say too seriously kid".
titan grip was the reason i stopped playing warrior bc it felt too over the top to weild two big ass weapons. plus i liked my little dwarf more with 2 onehanders. had more style imo

Absolutely right about prot warriors being looked down upon because of pally dominance. Prot warriors are viable for everything and more fun to play.
Important note: Glyph of Taunt is necessary for raids only, because Taunt is considered a spell and it needs the extra hit.

WOTLK is very axe heavy in general especially in the early tier content.

I had 2 Armageddons with my fury warrior. Most fun I ever had in WoW.
There is no warrior rotation. Its a priority order and you are doing it wrong.

Purely from a curiosity perspective: why did you change the name of the series midway through? I thought the "how broken is it now?" reinvention was a fresh spin on your staple series.
Because it obviously got clunky. There was like an identical 2 minute introduction before each video explaining why it was instead named "how broken is it now?".

Dps: average as ArP isn't all that common till the toc tier, then it becomes godlike because ArP is insane. In the first tier I recommend arms as it bring nice utility to the raid and does more than fury when you don't have bis gear.
Note: rogues should be assassin in the first tier, because its stronger, so the %physical dmg boost for the raid can be provided via Arms. And the healing reduction from mortal strike is useful in nax due to a few encounters having healing mechanics and you shouldn't expect your guild to be the best, because they aren't, so reducing the consequences of imperfect gameplay is only logical.
Recklessness: heroic strike + blood thirst followed by whirl wind. whirlwind will consume 2 charges of the 3 if they don't fix it, so whirlwind on the 3rd charge when you're fury.
Tank: Solid choice throughout the expansion that has more defensive's than any other tank. I'd note that in ICC you don't benefit as much from the icc buff as other tanks do which is part of the reason why people look down on prot warriors in that tier. Though in Ruby Sanctum nothing mitigates the damage of the whelps better than a prot warrior does period.

On beta for fury, whirlwind only consumes one charge of recklessness enabling a bit more freedom

We ran a pally + dk for most main + off tank situations, but I do remember prot war was plenty viable, especially in dungeons, so fair play to 'em
Pally probably will be definitely OP in this expansion for sure . Warrior kinda suck on AoE tanking ( dungeon ). Their 2 tools for Aoe tank are Thunder Clap and Shockwave

@@thinhso Warriors are the single best aoe tank in wrath. Thunderclap hits like a truck, so does improved revenge which hits three targets, and ofc shockwave hits hard too. The biggest source of aoe comes from their Damage Shield talent which makes them do 20% of their block value as damage to a target ANY time they are hit by (or block) a melee attack from them. Warrior aoe being ass is vanilla/tbc, in wrath they are #1.
Full BiS Fury is the best tank in dungs :D

i remember fighting Arms Warrs in pvp stacking stam sockets late game to boost their hp pool to insane numbers combining blood craze and second wind to almost outheal incoming damage. Being a rogue relying on stuns wasn't fun knowing it would proc second wind x)

Im planning on going Prot, I played it originally and while there are many instances where you have to work to get the same results as a pally that was part of the rewarding game play of it.
Being able to play as any race and not just a blood elf is a huge bonus

Titan's Grip best ability of all time. It what moved me from lock main to fury Warrior for oh so many years
TFB, Improved Slam & Sweeping Strikes being moved to arms where they belong, 10% arp on battle stance, Charge in combat, Rend actually does damage and I'm 99% sure they did something with the rage formula in wrath because it feels like I've got more to spend (or maybe it's just because of TFB).
Either way I'd say arms warrior received the most qol changes out of any class/spec in the game.

Minor correction but the Damage Shield talent doesn't do thorn damage only on blocks, it does damage on any melee attack that connects (not dodged/parried/missed). The builds and glyph choices overall aren't optimal for either spec but I guess that's not the focus of this video.
Played PvE & PvP as Fury warrior back in wotlk. It was the absolute best time I've ever had playing as a warrior. BIS.
I know it’s a real question, but it’s hard to think people didn’t know the absolute unit that warriors were in wrath, especially in pvp, I mean it was so strong you could literally stack armor pen in full pvp gear and still do enough dps in raids, was absolutely ridiculous at times, not to mention how good prot was, wrath truly felt like a golden age for a number of classes, but warrior and pally got that beautiful treatment, came up as gods among men
that's because they were scaling better with gear, and so - patch after patch - they kept getting better.

@@darianwells9191 The only problem is that its gonna be flooded with these classes, warri, dk, rets etc. Youre gonna drown in a pool of competition for gear and raid spots (even if you can bring a lot of them). Good luck ever getting shadowmourne if you dont have a guild set with your on top of the priority list and really having time to go hard. I started in wrath back then but was obviously garbage bc i just started playing the game, so i was always bitter about missing out on how cool fury warrior was in the second half of the game and shadowmourne. But i will likely not be able to change that now still lol.

I fondly remember a discussion I had with our PvP Officer (Arms Warrior) in WotLK that Fury Warrior is also extremely strong and viable in PvP if you know what you're doing even killing Arms Warriors without problems. He laughed at me and challenged me to a duel. He died in the Intercept Stun because Recklessness, Bloodthirst / Whirlwind / Heroic Strike and already he was in Execute Range - It critted. So I basically fourshot this dude while having worse gear. My GM who witnessed the duel immediately degraded this dude and made me PvP officer.

I'd 100% take the Recklessness nerf knowing I can use it on every single boss fight (assuming no wipes) rather than having to plan ahead on bosses I intend to improve my parse on. It's absolutely gutting when you pop it and then end up wiping though without being able to use it for half an hour too.

Prot Warriors were really good off-tanks back in the day. I've mained a Warrior since actual vanilla and it stayed my main all the way up until now, and with Vigilance, the mobility, the better AoE tanking, etc., etc., for WotLK prot warriors excelled at off-tanking. Slap Vigilance on the main pally tank during boss fights to help mitigate the damage they take while you either deal with ads or build up secondary threat, and so if a healer doesn't do their job right or the tank gets 1 tapped by some ability you have all that bonus threat they've generated for you ready to go so dps doesn't have to let up any.

Warrior in wrath: Prot PvP (block value > all) able to stun lock people or arms warrior which was an awesome spec all around after retladin & DK NERF.

Played an Arms warrior during WotLK. Never got Shadowmourne, probably never will. But I think this was the best the class ever got when it came to play style and rotation.
Arms warrior was awesome to play in cataclysm. It was also super strong in the second half of the expac in PvE. Only class that could annihilate mages in the dps meter.

I got once into the top 10 of all classes on worldoflogs (whatever was there before warcraftlogs became popular, forgot the exact name) because arms warrior was so strong. Our first kill of Morchok HC (first boss in dragon soul) was on rank 1 for arms warrior for 2 1/2 months despite relatively shitty gear (and slam on #1 in damage, when all guides put slam even below heroic strike in priority at the time). My guild was only ranked world #30-50 but i there were recurring attempts to recruit me for page 1 guilds just based on my logs by reaching out to me ingame. I am not stating this to I am not sure if you know exactly what you are talking about? This is just weird. For some reason you want to convince me that my statement is wrong because i was most likely a bad player without knowing anything about me? Arms warrior was aside from mages the best DPS class in the game towards the last quarter of the expansion even in single target (and thunderclap rend spread + bladestorm put them S-tier for AOE on top of amazing cleave with sweeping strikes upkeep + deadly calm etc). I really am not entirely sure why you are saying what youre saying. The concepts you discuss are not entirely wrong, just out of place in this comment section for some reason. I stopped playing during Heart of Fear in MoP, but i was definitely not "incompetent" in cataclysm.

Meh, not really. I know people want dps warriors to work in T7 but it’s just not worth playing outside of running 1 arms.
Based on what we’re seeing in the beta they aren’t much better than what pserver folks were saying. My hunch is that by phase 1 BiS they will be okay dps instead of dogshit…. And obviously if you’re an above average player in a mediocre guild you’ll perform much better relatively.

I did say it back before TBC was released that warriors were great in tbc and the doomers never played actual tbc endgame.. So many people telling me I was wrong. Hilarious how this turn out with knowing from blizzard servers vs playing on meme servers with meme coding.
I played wrath on my warrior when wrath was current back in 2008-2010. Good times, I miss them. I was Fury and Protection. At the end of wraith my damage was nuts. My aoe damage could spike dps charts at 40k-60k. I would sometimes pull threat off of bad tanks when I really went nuts on the dps. I used to warn tanks in randoms, are you sure you have threat? Then I tanked too, since a good tank was hard to find and it made for an instant que for the daily dungeon finder. In the group I played with on WoW and ran dungeons with, we always ran the dungeons as hard and fast as possible and would try to see who would get to the top of the dps charts. I usually ran with a priest, paladin and a hunter, then either a dk or some other caster.
Prot warrior is a must for Anub'Arak Heroic in TOGC
in melee fight nothing beats prot warrior 1 on 1 except for maybe blood dk or an extremely good prot pally.

I disagree, I very much enjoy playing warrior but unfortunately it’s very hard getting into pug groups as generally DPS as fury is still lacking behind most other classes
You dont go fury subtree as arms pve, you go prot with incite its way better especially for cleaving. Since execute was nerfed back then its not wrorth anymore to take the talent

Always hated TG as a warrior. Low drop chance for 2h and DKs being the dominant class meant you were really unlikely to get an upgrade for your weapons.
I like that tbc cleansed the bad taste in your mouth over warriors. Coming up to tbc it was "ha-ha! You aren't going to be wanted now FINALLY!". This time it's "look, you might be okay... Just don't take what people say too seriously kid".
titan grip was the reason i stopped playing warrior bc it felt too over the top to weild two big ass weapons. plus i liked my little dwarf more with 2 onehanders. had more style imo
