THANK YOU for this excellent recap! I was there at the beginning. First run into UBRS in Dec-04 on Suramar, first server run into MC. He has 'Old School Ride' - the very first WoW achievement, bought an epic mount prior to the April-05 implementation of the model, so it was just plain white.
I'd say packing 17 years of raiding into 44 minute video is an achievement. And the length is relatevely short. So I think you achieved your goal ;) Two 1 hour long videos wouldn't be something unexpected for this topic :)

Some of my best memories in life are from these experiences. I am no longer able to play but still watch it. To date this is my favourite video you've produced. Thank you.
Why can you no longer play? Watching a 45 min video about it leads me to think you could afford 45 mins inside wow. Lol mostly teasing and slightly curious. I loved raiding so much in wrath. The idea behind raiding is the most difficult content in the game after you get pre raid gear from dungeons or maybe quests I didn’t get to raid in TBC because the MMO part of the game was doing BT and sunwell. I was stuck doing quests alone with no social experience Once I played in wrath I got into dungeons and met so many people while I was leveling I had an extreme social experience. It helped me get to the end of the game quickly as well where the mmo player base was. I then did the ICC heroics they were somewhat difficult but it made it easier when the group talked it out to learn the fight. My guild told me once I get the pre raid gear I could do ICC 10 man normal. I got raid gear and also did 25 man normal with pugs, later defeated the live king and did a few bosses on heroic. I was a really crappy dps ret pally btw I was in at least full T9 and I at most did 3k dps. My guild helped my get to 6k dps. I don’t think I would of had this amazing social experience if it wasn’t for the LFD queue system. Sadly BOA items and LFR pushed the game into the ground.

Very fun video! Really brings back the memories! One minor thing though - @11:10 you say that Black Temple was the first time there was a PTR for raiding. That's not exactly true... I remember the Patch 1.11 PTR (Naxx 40) coming out and you were encouraged to try the new raid. Willie great vid! This makes you the official Lore-Master/Historian of WoW prog raiding. Congrats boy howdy i was durn tootin sick of hearing method's name by the end of BFA. Bye felicia!
This video clarely shows how the game has changed. I miss so much the days when a group of friends / good players could band together, have to figure out tactics by themselves and compete with other guilds for glory. Now it's all about practicing on the PTR, knowing all the mechanics beforehand, e-sports, big organizations, streaming... the whole shebang. Raiding has become less of a game and more of a spectacle, while losing most of it's magic and fun in the process.
People expect you to know exactly how everything works prior to ever fighting a boss. Applies to most games. Scares off a lot of people that could turn out to be assets because of the toxic "this isn't a prog run" people.
" Raiding has become less of a game and more of a spectacle, while losing most of it's magic and fun in the process." If you want that, there are guilds out there for you. You just don't want it.
@@Xcitng1988 Duh.. Of course you can choose to do whatever you want to do. I can pick a regular guild and raid like I always did. That's not the point of my comment. I'm talking about the race for world first, when guilds went blind into dungeons and had to figure out tactics by themselves and competed vs other guilds like themselves and not multi million dollar organizations with sponsors, streamers and shit. That's not the case anymore. Next time try to understand what I'm talking about before replying.
Amazing video. I really enjoy your content, and this was this was no exception. Long or short your videos are always interesting and deserving of the watch and of that thumbs up. I didnt follow RWF back in the day, and i quit at the start of cata only coming back for classic. This was a great vid to recap the raids and their progress and difficulty at the time and put it all in persective for me. Thank you 👍
Worth noting that BRF was so soon after Highmaul because they were supposed to be part of the same tier but staggered, and they delayed it more than originally intended to pad out the expansion due to all of the well known issues with WoD development.
So WoD almost had only two raid tiers - big ooof. BRF was the most recent raid I did before quitting retail raiding - it was fun, but the rest of the game sucked the joy out of the game. And guild drama didn't help - I had no reason to carry on.
wished there was more to this than "guild X killed boss Y after Z days with A pulls" cuz this could've just been a text list. Some more reflection/analysis especially in the second half would've been nice. though it was cool to see some of the super old TBC screenshots/drama/etc.
Kungen said why Nihilum didn't perform well after a while. Guilds started raiding at 7am and took vacations to raid for world first, while they nihilum kept the 2-3 days raid schedule.

You have changed not the game. You can't still play like you think you want to but you don't. It's on you mate.
You nailed !!! Best comment here (regarding the game and not the video)
Have to stop after the lich king kill for obvious reasons. Nice video!
Thank you 👍
Willie, do not worry. 44 minutes is a moderate video length compared to The Salt Factory or Joseph Anderson's vids. So keep it up man ❤
really great video! gj !
Great video. One of your best!!!!!!
Thanks WillE!
It was a special video. Thank you.
the nostalgia of this made me both happy and sad... i truly miss the good ole day WoW.. Great video.
wished there was more to this than "guild X killed boss Y after Z days with A pulls" cuz this could've just been a text list. Some more reflection/analysis especially in the second half would've been nice. though it was cool to see some of the super old TBC screenshots/drama/etc.
Liked before watched, cus it WillE and WillEs content is leet and 44min…? I’m here for it! Gonna be good and well worth it!
The intro was sick.
Awesome video!!
Great video. Thank you.
Amazing video. Thank you!
Great video!
Enjoyed every minute of it for the first hour of work, thank you
Of all the videos I've seen on your channel this was the best so far.
Kungen said why Nihilum didn't perform well after a while. Guilds started raiding at 7am and took vacations to raid for world first, while they nihilum kept the 2-3 days raid schedule.
Quality video. Cheers!
