My biggest problem with paladins is trying to keep track of the abilities and their names without getting a headache. Divine Crusader's Hand of Holy Avenging Justice
I played all three specs all throughout WOTLK and I SUCKED back then. Still cleared all the content, topped healing and dps charts. Tanked like a god. I thought I was SOOOOOOOO good. My ego was immense. Its only now that I'm looking back that I realize that I was complete trash and was carried by my insanely overpowered class.
there was also a 'protheal' spec in 3.1 or 3.2, stamina was giving spellpower for prot palas, so healers stacked stamina and were almost immortal in pvp
I suppose I am in the minority here but having played all the specs of paladin in both classic and tbc I really don't like all the drastic changes made to the class. It doesn't feel like a paladin anymore to me
@@legendarydragoon1462 I never played Classic, but i don't feel that way, they're a badass plate using sword swinging, spell slinger with afinity for healing and holy damage but suffers in the mana management dept or would be OP af. Very standard Paladin mode imo.
I was a blood elf Ret paladin back in the day and I loved it. Honestly I wasn’t even good at the game, I just loved the insane amount of damage one could deal.

I was a kid when Wrath came out but it was the first expansion I raided in (very casually) so I want to see the full extent of the content as an adult with my favourite class! Normally I wouldn't comment on a video before watching but I love watching and rewatching your videos to get excited for upcoming classic content.
agreed brother I was prot pally at the start of wrath when I was 12, very casual but got a few heroic ICC kills. otherwise just so young and dumb at the game before I got older and better. excited to see how it goes for us this time. enjoy mate
Seal of blood... I was sad when it was removed. But then happy again when devine storm was buffed making me both top dps and heal in a fight with a lot of aoe :)
Paladins were so op back in the day a ret paladin could almost one shot any class. In 2 seconds they put out the same damage all the other classes having to spend 15 seconds doing. They pilled on so many holy procs so fast they fixed them quick. There was no resist to holy damage at that moment, it made it worse. Even after that they were at the top of the dps charts towards the end of the expansion. Very strong class from beginning to end. Havent even gotten to them tanking or healing yet.

I started playing Wow during the final days of Vanilla. I picked Paladin! and Played it all the way until I quit during Cata. I then picked it up later in WOD, but didn't like it. When I went back to classic recently, I started again as a paladin (holy of course). I have not regretted it even though it is terrible to play (slow slow). I am so looking forward to WoTLK!
I was a Ret main through all of WotLK and it has probably never been more powerful than it was back then. Especially at launch, the only class that could really touch you in PVP was the similarly over-tuned death knight, and my 18 year old clicking and keyboard turning self was able to easily top raid charts. I remember when they first made exorcism usable on players before it was nerfed, and it made for some hilarious 1-shot sequences, especially in low level battlegrounds.
After 2 year of TBC classic being treated at most as a utility healer that you take because you need one I'm son glad to see the holy paladin getting some light
been maining ret for most of TBC and im going to miss the seal twisting during wrath. its very satisfying to get good at, but i also look forward to doing damage to more than 1 target and not going oom all the time. getting more excited for wrath day by day.
I’m excited for the change, twisting is fun but just feels inconsistent after playing beta a bit. Having the difference of a 2k or 3k parse based on seal of command proccing has always felt bad, when I pink parse on my SWP main it feels like I simply won the twist lottery for that week.

It wasn’t a huge deal but I solo healed the second boss of vault of arch in a 10 man. I didn’t know until we cleared it when the raid leader and another member messaged me and sent me some gold because they were impressed no one in the raid died. There was a shaman that was supposed to heal but he was enhance. I did notice I was low on mana and I was having to heal every member of the raid but it felt so standard to me. Made me loving healing so much
Same thing happened in 25m Heroic ICC with my shaman. I was spirit stacked for raid healing, our other two healers were a married couple and their internet went out mid raid. We ended up clearing it with just me and on occasion a balance druid helping out if I had to focus on the tanks. Shit was wild.
Watching this as a 10-year-long WotLK pala main, I must say I am impressed you got so many things right! All I can add is replace Glyph of Exorcism for Glyph of Consecration for PvE after 2T10 and know that you are capable of doing great damage (though not the best), but it's gonna cost you your hands and wrists. Don't expect to reach full dps potential if you are just lazily pressing buttons as they come off cooldown (especially after 2T10, which truly is a gamechanger).
Bro all the pally specs can be played almost to the top of there potential with a one button macro aside from some situations as Holly dsacing or something
@@danmoore1427 Retri? "Bro" I've never seen it. Macros have conditional logic disabled, so after 2T10 it's literally impossible for any 1button macro to beat my dps. Tanking? Sure you can, but not to the top of *their potential. Healing? What??
I was a ret main in early wow, only getting to max level at the end of TBC. When Wrath came shortly after and rets became insanely powerful, I was having the time of my life. As content went on though and ret just kept getting nerfs after nerfs, I eventually got fed up and tried out tanking and healing (I was a young teen back then and had only cared about doing damage up until that point). Now 14 years later, I wonder if I will enjoy playing ret again in Wrath Classic since I mostly had bad memories about it and didn't play much of it in the version that it's going to be in. I feel like I really should because I know this is the time period where paladin as a whole was super powerful even after nerfs, but idk.
What about the range of holyshock? Its downright important that the healingrange of this spell is now the same as every other heal... i remember not being in shock range for saving non tanking raidmembers

I remember minding my own business while questing, and people would randomly go up to me and duel. I had no interest in it. But each time I would win. I had just started the game. Paladin was pretty busted in Wrath.
I raided as holy pala in Wrath (mostly Naxx and ToC). I was a complete noob, and yet, I didn't have any issue getting into pug raids and performing to everyone's satisfaction. Those were the good days :D

Every spec was WANTED Holy: a literal must have in any serious raid Protection: the king of tanks, nothing beats it Retribution: It is up there with the strongest DPS, especially when they get their hands on shadowmourne So much utility and the best buffs in game It is THE best class in the game in wrath, no question about it.
Not at the endgame 284ilvl RSHC items...ret pally with BiS is around 4th-5th DPs after warr, rogue, feral and mage, sometimes good unholy DK... depending on boss and if boss has aoe elements like ghouls, Valkyrs etc as LK does, and of course movement during the fight. i don't remember retail, but at least on warmane that is wotlk server many years it's like that.
I swapped from elemental shaman in TBC to a protection paladin. I honestly was not aware just how god mode they really are. I created one during Wrath and though she was patches behind everyone else, since my main was a priest, I never got the impression they were overpowered. Perhaps because I didn’t play one during TBC and therefore didn’t see the power increase first hand. Well, I guess now I will.
6:33 Does 0 Holy damage if you're under attack. The target must not be aggroing you. Paladins are great, Ret is kinda weak atm until ICC in DPS but it changes soon, so i'll stick with it. Best healer in the game atm i'm told, which is pretty cool. Holy seems like a fun spec to play since you're in the thick of it and passively healing a lot.
Actually saw Cdew play the pregnant pala spec with notmes in 2s last night. When it was working, it REALLY seemed good. And kind of more involved than a regular "pure" healing spec I guess. And whilst listening to stream, I for sure thought it was crag or crab pala, but oh well :P

I was planning on going with a druid this time around, but Pally is just soooo good and most of all fun. I enjoy druid but the rose tinted glasses are making me think I should go Paladin. I was lucky to be part of a fantastic guild in wrath, I got valanyr as holy during ulduar and shadowmourne as ret during icc, what id give to relive those days, we had so much fun
I mained pally tank back in Wrath days in all raids and had lots of fun also had tons of fun in pvp as well. In classic / TBC i have been struggle with the pally as over all spec play and i know wrath changes will help a lot but the thing i will be happy about is the taunt , hand of recon. For the life of me i cant do crap with out as a tank in TBC
with hindsight, Ret is a slow burn in Wrath. It'll become great in ICC, but until then it kind of lags behind. probably better than before wrath for sure, but not OP off the bat
I played ret from original vanilla all the way to cat. Wotlk is how paladins should have been the entire game. Everyone went ret in wotlk but, it was the true OG rets from vanilla through TBC were able to show how much of a difference experience made.

As holy paladin you don't want to use 4/4 set on 3.3 IcC patch as MP5 is total useless and in icc you rarely use holy shock, so that bonus 0.3 is useless. Instead you want to have haste crit on every item you can, so You only need 2 set head and shoulders, chest is from rotface, hands from Lady deathwhisper, and pants either haste crit 264ilvl or you go from festergut cloth haste hit to have higher chance to apply judgment on boss.
Ill never forget in og wrath when rank 1 shield of righteousness and rank 2 were on seperate cooldowns. Not only was your threat literally untouchable, you also out dps’d half the raid 😂 im looking forward to ret this time around though. Was prot/holy back in the day (almost always prot) and never really specced ret. Ever. Nor did anyone else on my server lol. Hoping to continue my classic trend of helping make ret “not a meme spec” 🤪😎💪

20% damage to 1 talent isnt anything special in wotlk. i main mage in tbc classic and yes its super strong obviously but hes talking about wotlk and hes correct in terms of the benefit to dps for the class
Yes it was. Retri was solid pvp class, and solid pve class in ICC. Holy was the best healer in pvp and probably pve and prot was the best and easiest tank.
Ahw, yes. The time when the rest of my raid wiped to LK and my prot paladin battled him alone for like multiple minutes and killed him. Could even tank heroic dungeons without a healer after I got my T10. Fair and balanced, as the paladin class should be.
Willie, Your preg spec is incorrect you dont take pursuit of justice. Also taking conscration glyph will net more dmg than exo glyph. Also prot paladin is actually more powerful than ret s5 pvp. Also has anyone actually even tested to see if reckoning procs art of war on blizzards wrath yet? I've heard no info sadly. I really hope preg doesn't exist. It's a game breaking spec in 3v3

Doing 16k dps in ICC, then respeccing to Prot to offtank and tanking every boss in ICC no problem was definitely fun.

I hit gladiator last 2 seasons of wrath playing this broken spec in 2s and 3s. With a lock in 2s and war/ele in 3s. It was unbelievable broken.

Range changes as well in WotLK, 40 yards like all other heals for healing and 20 yards for dealing damage. On beta though it is only 20 yards.
Pally seems the most impressive class covered so far.
Nobody will be bringing 2 holy paladins. Holy paladin has one job, and that's tank healing. Every other healer is better at raid healing.
The Tirion Fordring set, Judgment set and Grand Marshal set are the best looking sets in WoW
I personally love the ulduar set, loved my dark red tank dress.
Classic was Blizzard's initial love song to the Pally. TBC was their serenade. WotLK is their magnum opus of their love of the Paladin class.

I remember playing a lot of bg's on my survival hunter in WOTLK. The only classes that could kill me in were rogues, dk's, and fucking ret pally's.
I copied my miner ret paladin over to wrath beta in horrible gear (he’s just a farmer) and he was blowing things up nicely right out of the gate.

Actually saw Cdew play the pregnant pala spec with notmes in 2s last night. When it was working, it REALLY seemed good. And kind of more involved than a regular "pure" healing spec I guess. And whilst listening to stream, I for sure thought it was crag or crab pala, but oh well :P

Your video has made me doubt my choice of main in Wrath lol. I mained a prot/ret pally in Wrath and loved it. I was planning on going with a druid this time around, but Pally is just soooo good and most of all fun. I enjoy druid but the rose tinted glasses are making me think I should go Paladin. Just like everyone else lol.
Is Prot/Holy PvP spec not good in this patch? I remember avenger's shield for big damage and high survivability
I was lucky to be part of a fantastic guild in wrath, I got valanyr as holy during ulduar and shadowmourne as ret during icc, what id give to relive those days, we had so much fun
I mained pally tank back in Wrath days in all raids and had lots of fun also had tons of fun in pvp as well. In classic / TBC i have been struggle with the pally as over all spec play and i know wrath changes will help a lot but the thing i will be happy about is the taunt , hand of recon. For the life of me i cant do crap with out as a tank in TBC

Lol, I mained ret in vanilla wrath and i basically did have my entire rotation macro'd to one button.

with hindsight, Ret is a slow burn in Wrath. It'll become great in ICC, but until then it kind of lags behind.

I played ret from original vanilla all the way to cat. Wotlk is how paladins should have been the entire game. Everyone went ret in wotlk but, it was the true OG rets from vanilla through TBC were able to show how much of a difference experience made.

As holy paladin you don't want to use 4/4 set on 3.3 IcC patch as MP5 is total useless and in icc you rarely use holy shock, so that bonus 0.3 is useless. Instead you want to have haste crit on every item you can, so You only need 2 set head and shoulders, chest is from rotface, hands from Lady deathwhisper, and pants either haste crit 264ilvl or you go from festergut cloth haste hit to have higher chance to apply judgment on boss.

Ill never forget in og wrath when rank 1 shield of righteousness and rank 2 were on seperate cooldowns. Not only was your threat literally untouchable, you also out dps’d half the raid 😂 im looking forward to ret this time around though. Was prot/holy back in the day (almost always prot) and never really specced ret. Ever. Nor did anyone else on my server lol. Hoping to continue my classic trend of helping make ret “not a meme spec” 🤪😎💪

20% damage to 1 talent isnt anything special in wotlk. i main mage in tbc classic and yes its super strong obviously but hes talking about wotlk and hes correct in terms of the benefit to dps for the class

Yes it was. Retri was solid pvp class, and solid pve class in ICC. Holy was the best healer in pvp and probably pve and prot was the best and easiest tank.
Ahw, yes. The time when the rest of my raid wiped to LK and my prot paladin battled him alone for like multiple minutes and killed him. Could even tank heroic dungeons without a healer after I got my T10. Fair and balanced, as the paladin class should be.
Wrath expansion is the Wet Dream for Paladins.

Willie, Your preg spec is incorrect you dont take pursuit of justice. Also taking conscration glyph will net more dmg than exo glyph. Also prot paladin is actually more powerful than ret s5 pvp. Also has anyone actually even tested to see if reckoning procs art of war on blizzards wrath yet? I've heard no info sadly. I really hope preg doesn't exist. It's a game breaking spec in 3v3
