Haylee Shumake it's not a really a pumpkin. More like a really huge bean that grows on a cacao tree. White cacao is like white chocolate. But I don't think white cacao makes white choco

Scarlett Whisperer ah you mean Shu Uemura ^^ one of the brands under L'Oréal's umbrella group. The brand is pretty popular here in Malaysia because their makeup and stuff is tailored for Asian skin

I really REALLY hope you guys wont give up on the "japanese artisans making things" videos, cause I find them super intresting and I would love to see more of those, also, Juns cooking.
Crucent The artisan videos take too much time and effort but are not watched that much so i don't think they will make more of those videos

As a perpetually thin 5 foot 6 person who's normal healthy weight is around 116 pounds, can confirm that dropping close to 100 pounds because of illness or poor eating habits feels terrifying and embarrassing, and is absolutely a real problem. People will give you shit because most people want/need to lose weight, not gain it, and simply don't get it.
I agree! I am 5'6 and I weigh 120 pounds. I always ask my doctor what is the healthy weight range for someone of my age and height and always make sure to follow the doctors orders.
Same. I'm 5'9 and 120 pounds naturally and healthily. People always say I'm lucky for being so thin but I struggle to stay at this weight every day. People just don't understand, it's a really serious thing.
for the longest time i was trying to lose weight (5+ years) and managed to reach a good weight of about 130? but the past year i was sick and came down to like 120 pounds at 5'4 which worried me b/c i was actually trying to maintain my weight not lose more. so i'm back to trying to gain at least 5 pounds and it's weird after spending so much of my time trying to lose weight. o_O
I had a similar problem, almost was sent to a hospital, but how I gained my weight back FAST was to eat so much peanut butter (spoonfuls), boost nutrition shakes multiple times a day, lots of bread and pasta especially right before bed where the calories are stored rather than burned off from being active. :) hope that helps !
+pinooot-noir Wow, really? That's interesting and really says something about individual health! Because I am also 5'9, but I start to become obviously under-weight once I reach 135 lbs. My ribs dramatically show and my legs get very thin, and while I wasn't that thin for a very long period of my life I think it also made my anxiety worse. I believe I am most healthy between 145-150 lbs.

Chocolate is popular all over the world, and interestingly the largest producers of chocolate-related products are in countries that don't produce the cacao beans. It's good to see that they're educating people on how the chocolate we eat is processed so that people better understand the industry as whole. Most don't associate Tropical Countries with Cacao Beans/Chocolate but that's where they grow - same with the pineapples that are pain to harvest if you're not well skilled and properly equipped :D
As for the quiet lines, I would be so happy to get in line knowing that people remember their manners even in large crowds. Thanks so much Rachel & Jun for sharing this video :)

Filming with natural light though is definitely tricky! I can't remember how many times I've said, "we have to hurry up" or "I have to go, there's only X amount of time for optimum light in the apartment!!".

It was so funny and all and I kinda didn't expect more of this kind of stuff (because you seems to be busy with travelling and other things) but when I hear you're planning to do more skits like that. that powdered chocolate Jun was trying to turn to melted chocolate, if you add sugar and milk and boil it, you'll get the richest hot chocolate you'll ever taste.
Or if you add it to glutenous rice and boil it till thick, then you have champorado which is a chocolate porridge.

I'm glad you are so open about your weight issues. I'm on the other end of the spectrum, but it bothers me so greatly when people shame skinny people for needing to put on weight. Neither extreme is a healthy thing.
I think moral of the story is just no one has any place to comment on anyone's weight unless they are their Doctor.
Just a little idea for future videos, please make more covering different sites in japan, even if it is just around your home area. My wife and I just love seeing more of the real life of the country! Happy Valentine Day!
Cacao grows in our backyard so I find it amazing how other people are surprised to see where chocolates are made. Anyway, great vid guys.

Really interesting seeing how the chocolate is made! I once saw a video where they brought chocolate bars to the farmers who grow the cacao and they had never seen it before. One said (translated) "I had no idea it was used for something like this!".

As a Brazilian who's parents own a really small farm with many fruits including Cacao, the chocolate portion of the video was so familiar and fun to see 😂. Fun fact, you can actually eat the white part around the cacao bean. It's delicious and so sweet!

The idiot's guide was so good! I showed so many people it, and it's on my favourites list! If you want to try lighting up your apartment without natural light, maybe invest in a couple lamps and some collapsible light reflectors! They're used in photography and filming, and they're really good for keeping things evenly and clearly lit, especially in smaller spaces. So even if you couldn't use it in all rooms, it might be good for certain ones, so you don't have to have it be daylight for ALL filming!

when Jun grinds the chocolate I went all "It's a Metate stone!" it looks like one, here in Mexico the metate was common in Grandma's kitchens, I actually watched my grandmother, her sisters and their daughters grinding ingredients with it to make mole sauce and such, even though we already had blenders they said the food tasted better cooking the traditional way

I totally think you should film whatever it is that sparks your interest just as long as you continue doing your channel. You two are one of the few channels I am subscribed to and watch on a regular basis and it's because you both are interesting and likeable. I am hugely into anthropology and love studying different cultures and here I get the perspectives of both a native and someone from my own country in one video. I grew up knowing how chocolate was made, how it was grown and the whole process (I'm not sure why I knew, I just did) and so seeing other people learn about it was so fascinating to me!
