- Valentine's Day in Japan is a day where women give chocolate to men! Today I made some deco choco (decoration chocolate) for Jun! It was my first time ever making chocolate (or decorating chocolate!!) so go easy on me! The recipe I used for chocolate was more or less this one, minus the vanilla: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEEcO...
I used Cocoa butter, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and powdered milk, although the powdered milk I used was very large grained, which made the chocolate a little grainy. Next time I'll try to find powdered milk that's REALLY powdered! Aaaand since I didn't have any premade chocolate (because I made it myself) nor did I have a thermometer or any other necessary item, I couldn't temper the chocolate. Amateur here, hi .__.

Rachel & Jun I thought he seemed super duper excited and happy. He seemed thoroughly surprised. That was seriously adorable and props for making chocolate. haha I think it's a Japanese culture/mannerism, it's also kind of how Japanese don't like PDA :3 and he's shy hehehe
***** Well, I'm female and awkward when receiving gifts. I usually "put on a show" to make people know how much I appreciate being thought of, but actually I'm more like the "silent joy" type. And I know quite a few males who are perfectly capable of being all bubbly and happy when receiving gifts, so you actually can't pin it down on "men just don't". ;)

okay soo ... this one time for valentines day our school organized so you could pay some cash for a dude dressed in a big heart costume to deliver a rose or chocolate to whoever you want and the cash went to charity..
so, in science class the dude who was dressed in a big heart came in and said my name.
i was rly shocked and confused because
a) i was a loner
b) i barely knew anyone at that school.
c) i wasn't your ''school crush'' material. (aka i was a big nerd who spent his time alone)
anyway so i walked towards him and took the chocolate. everyone was whispering around me like ''wtf? how can HE get something but i cant?'' so naturally i was curious and proud..... but then 10 min later he came back and said he had deliver them wrong..
and thats the closest ive come to a ''giving chocolate to someone you like''-valentine ... sobs
OMG that's the most depressing story ever, I could cry for you!! Awww haha

Rachel & Jun That's so funny what you say about angrily sloped eyebrows because I think my son (half Indonesia-half Aussie) has those eyebrows! :P My husband always says they are like "Japanese eyebrows",,, my husband does have some Japanese blood in his ancestry as well though so maybe that's where it comes from!!! hehe

I give you props for making chocolate from scratch. The important part is maintaining the right temperature, and then getting the correct ratio of the ingredients.
