Welcome to Harajukucore!
Thanks for reacting to Hanabie (Ha-na-be-eh). They refer to their distinct sound as Harajukucore, a mix of metal, punk, electronic, pop, and rap. The name comes from the Harajuku district which is famous for its trendsetting street fashion, music and art scene. You can definitely see and hear those influences in the video.
Hanabie are *Matsuri* - guitar, vocals, compositions. *Yukina* - clean and harsh vocals. *Hettsu* - bass and chorus. *Chika* - drums. This vid features their old drummer, *Sae.*
All their newer videos have closed captions for the lyrics. Just hit the [CC] button. If the button isn't functional, like in this older video, check in the description.
Their song 'Reiwa Dating Apps Generation' is heavy on the rap influence & would be a good video to check out next. Matsuri has a melodic flow, while Yukina comes in with _speeeed._
Here's a few more song recommendations - 'Otaku Lovely Densetsu', 'Be the GAL - early summer ver.', 'NEET GAME', 'Envy', 'Tousou' (run away), 'GIRLS NIGHT'
LOL! "Sounds like it's gonna be pop."
GOTCHA!
Those growls came out of lead singer, Yukina, who is 4'9"!
Except for the drummer, the other 3 met in high school and was a Maximum the Hormone (J-rock band) cover band.
They were just touring the U.S.!
Glad you enjoyed them!
Same here. Not what I usually listen to, but gawd damn, they have a unique sound!
It's called Harajuku-core, named after the popular youth culture/fashion district in Japan.
"Pardon Me, I have to Go Now" next!
Great recommendation as always, band maid and more hanabie next for sure
SHESSSSH THE RAPPINGGG
I’m Saying!!
Hanabie = Harajukucore = 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Matsuri (GV) Yukina (V) Hettsu (BV) Sae (D) - the drummer is now Chika but Sae was cool.
Almost everyone's reaction to this band on first encounter is to say WTF out loud, and we're not talking only on TH-cam videos, just in general. It got so widespread and well known over the years that they put it in one of their more recent songs - look up "Be the GAL" (early summer ver.). So now every time Hanabie perform live there's this one moment where the entire crowd gets to scream WTF in their face while they are laughing their butts off on stage 😂
That’s fire that they play into that joke with the fans🔥
Nice review. They are fun. Pardon me is probably next, Otaku is also on the short list but a lot of their best tracks like 'warning' are without a video.
Also worth trying a softer group called Gacharic Spin, try kachi kachi yama', and for a much wilder ride is Paledusk, where 'I'm ready to die for my friends' and 'rumble' are good examples
Yeah “Pardon Me” will definitely be soon, and the other recommendations you mentioned ill definitely give a try as well
If you want some more all female Japanese rock metal check out
Oiran live by Nemophila
Hate live by Band Maid
Still Burning by Bridear
Hanabie is
Yukina Vocals
Matsuri Guitar
Chika Current drummer Sae in this video
Hetsu bass
Thank you for all the recommendations! I’m thinking band maid for sure
They switched drummers?
@@justjez Otaku lovely Densetsu will show Chika, the new one, at her best
@@justjezyeah Sae this drummer left for unknown reasons right as they started to explode in early 2023 (had just signed with Sony) and a 1st world tour on the horizon. Sae was a good drummer and so is their new drummer Chika. Funny you mentioned Chainsaw Man as the music was done by the Japanese metal legends Maximum the Hormone. Hanabie started in middle school as a Maximum the Hormone cover band. As for next songs I would skip their newest release Girl’s Talk for now as it is an outlier to their normal sound. Concur with others here Otaku, Lovely Densetsu or Pardon Me I Have to Go Now are natural progressions. I have seen your AG reactions and AG is releasing a collab with Maximum the Hormone in the next couple of weeks.
Ah ok I’ll definitely have to check out the new drummer then. That’s so cool with the chainsaw man connection as well. The 3 songs you mentioned are getting a lot of recommendations as well, so they will be next for sure.
Yukina is a 4' 10" vocal dynamo! Matsuri, who does the clean vocals, and, plays guitar, also writes all the music. There's Hettsu on bass, and, this still had Sae on drums. She left in early 2023, and, was replaced by Chika, who's just as great. At this point, they've had slmost as many drummers as Spinal Tap.
🤘🇺🇦❤️ Hanabie

Yea just do this bro !!
Saw them in concert in Atlanta last year, they hit so hard, their concerts are freaking amazing. It's just crazy to hear that voice come out of that little 4' 10" woman. I felt bad for the band that came after them, they were a metal band as well but they felt so underwhelming compared to Hanabie.
