When it comes to Band-Maid, whenever the option presents itself, you will ALWAYS want to go with the live version (as long as it isn't a fan cam). They are built to be a live band, and they do a lot of extras in their live performances, from multiple instrumental solos and battles and extended sections. The girl you were asking about with the red rose in her bonnet is Miku Kobato, the rhythm guitarist and background vocalist/second lead vocalist, and she is the founder and public face of the band.

This was the last video with the previous drummer Sae. The video following this one "Tousou (Runaway)" was the debut for the new drummer Chika. This was also the first video in a series of four videos (so far) to feature the same actor Kenji Kurosawa. He plays the bad boss in this video, then reprises his role in "Tousou (Runaway)," "Be the Gal: Early Summer Ver," and "Girls Talk," though I suspect his story arc is not yet over, lol!

Heed the wise words printed on Yukina's necktie - *Protect Your Neck!* Boss Kurosawa sure didn't. This is Hanabie's indictment of the Japanese office grind. *Matsuri* (vo/gtr.) is being buried under paperwork. *Sae* (dr.) tried to take a break on the roof, but the boss tracked her down. *Hettsu* (bass) is reduced to being a servant and bringing the boss tea. *Yukina* (vo) is obviously being harassed by the boss. The ladies are then "forced" to go to a drinking party after work with the boss. The little "peck on the ground" dance is mocking the fact that you have to bow to superiors constantly, making you look like a chicken pecking on the ground. Interestingly, that little dance section went super viral on tiktok and is part of the reason the video has 7 million views in one year. I believe this was right after they had officially signed with Sony / Epic Records Japan. Before they were basically independent, producing their own stuff. Their first single *Crash Over*, from their high school days, goes for around $500.00 - $1000.00 depending on the condition. This was the last video with their old drummer, Sae. She is now with a band called *Code of Zero.* Hanabie has a long history of drummers coming and going. They are on their 4th official drummer with Chika. She's a keeper. Actually the MV for NaiNaiNai is refering to the lyrics from their earlier song, Sekigae Gattuso! in which they tell a story about seating shuffle (japanese school do this regularly) and crush on a classmate. they somehow able to blend that seamlessly into this MV.

After you get to know the Maids and some lore, come back to this MV and you'll see that the anime tells the story of how a smol pigeon named Miku formed the best rock band in the world in order to save the planet (from COVID)! A heroine's journey! Lots of easter eggs too! Misa drinking from her flask, Akane's drumsticks turn into bananas, sets from previous videos, etc. While this is not an actual anime, they have done soundtracks for some. "Shambles" is for Season 2 of Kengan Ashura on Netflix and would satisfy your recent song requirement. The Netflix promo with the song started slow and was only a tease since I had no idea what it was about before and after I watched it. "Thrill" would be the song that launched their career. Everybody says that there should be an anime that stars the band as characters... I may have to write it up :) The "plot" of the song and video for Unleash!!!!! is that Covid, represented by the black stuff, comes and separates the band, representing how they felt at that time. As they sink into the blackness, it's only Saiki (which you noticed) who stood strong and pulled the band back together with her innate toughness (they don't call her the Ice Queen for nothing). Then they unite and unleash their powers of music and destroy the darkness, emerging from the Covid period stronger than ever, holding up the flag of Band-Maid and rock music. Which is actual fact. The Hate live performance is epic and like all Japanese bands the live performances if available are preferred. If you go to an older song Real Existence is one of their 2 most performed songs, the official live version on their page is an absolute banger. Misa the bassist is known as drinking on stage and kicking immense ass. I have seen both Band Maid and Hanabie live and they both are awesome, though vastly different experiences..

Misa [mee-sah] (Barefoot Assassin) - Bass Guitar Her nickname comes from an interview where the host was saying that she was not wearing a maid outfit and Miku spoke up for her stating that it was an assassin maid outfit, along with the fact that Misa goes barefoot on stage. Miku [mee-kuu] (Small Pigeon) - Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Lyricist, Band Founder Her nickname comes from her chosen last name Kobato, which literally means small pigeon. Akane [aah-kah-neh] (Gorilla) - Drums Her nickname comes partially from her love of eating bananas. She almost always snacks on one during their long okyu-ji (servings, concerts) which routinely last well over 2 hours. Saiki [sigh-kee] (Sai-Chan or Ice Queen) - Lead Vocals Fans called her the Ice Queen early on because she was very stoic and showed little emotion. She has evolved to be quite expressive now. The band just call her Sai-Chan. Kanami [kah-nah-mee] (Mincho or Princess) - Lead Guitar, Songwriter Fans called her Princess because of her infatuation with Saiki. When she introduces herself onstage she says "Please call me Mincho". This was the last song they did with Sae on drums, Otaku will have Chika on drums. You were pretty on in the meaning. This song is about the toxic work environment prevalent in Japanese business world. The dance park where they sing peck on on, peck on is talking about how you are supposed to bow to your superiors. They are calling people for being like birds pecking on the ground. The boss is not dead he has an ongoing role in later videos as well.

Almost everyone's reaction to this band on first encounter is to say WTF out loud, and we're not talking only on TH-cam videos, just in general. It got so widespread and well known over the years that they put it in one of their more recent songs - look up "Be the GAL" (early summer ver.). So now every time Hanabie perform live there's this one moment where the entire crowd gets to scream WTF in their face while they are laughing their butts off on stage 😂

Also worth trying a softer group called Gacharic Spin, try kachi kachi yama', and for a much wilder ride is Paledusk, where 'I'm ready to die for my friends' and 'rumble' are good examples
