Clint - I have a (stock) 03 7.3 RWD AT XLT Crew cab that had water intrusion into the fuse box/BCM. I got forscan lite going while troubleshooting an IDM/FICM failure, a year or two back, and worn engine wiring harness, but had never looked at barometric pressure using it. More recently, I found and solved water intrusion at the cab corners, (until I can get a good donor cab truck,) and am waiting on a new fuse box/BCM. Tne water was making my radio turn on and drain the batteries. I a,so replaced a leaking IPR sensor. Concurrently, but likely coincidentally, The tach, and trans temp guages stopped working, and the only codes stored were a PCM keepalive failure, and low injector pressure, immediately after, which have not come back since clearing them, after reconnecting the battery and runnning the truck. The IPR sensor seems to be working fine, but the check gauge and engine icon lights now stay on, with no codes stored. The important question, for you, is my forscan shows no barometric pressure, just reads zero for any barometric pressure value I choose to display from the PCM. I assume this means a failed PCM, and the guage issue may or may not be related. I repaired my cluster for having the problem with the battery saver relay, in the past so am comfortable checking the relays in there, and replacing them or just remelting thermal stress cracked solder joints. Truck runs better since the IPR sensor replacement, but seems to have decreased fuel mileage despite a much needed alignment, which makes me think it is due to the lack of baro data. Going to try to get a rebuilt cluster, if my own simple troubleshooting does not fix the tach and trams temp. (Fuel, speed, and oil pressure read OK, and I have a bad temp sender as a known issue...) and will replace the PCM as I can afford to, but am hoping you can (or someone,) can confirm that I SHOULD be seeing a barometric pressure reading from the PCM. Thank you, or anyone.

Thank you for all the information you put together and put out!! I have a question regarding baro results. My Autoenginuity scan tool is giving me a max baro psi reading of 148psi. The voltage does show fluctuation based on what seems like changes in weather. (last night it was 4.55volts and this morning it was moving between 4.3 and 4.2) I don't really know how to actually test the sensor but I'm curious if the scan tool is picking up a max psi of 148 if it is using this information to feed the PCM. I pulled the protective cover off the sensor to find the sticky gel that is protecting the sensor and touching this sticky material will effect the voltage and I can get the psi to finally change if I really push or pull this gel material. It seems like the sensor is not working but I don't know how to verify that. Removing the sensor causes a little rougher idle and harsh shifting and now that I've put the sensor back on after touching the gel material the engine has a more noticeable rougher idle.
I am a working on a 2000 F350 7.3. No tuner. There are no codes related to the Baro. On a n Xtool D8W scantool i have a Barometric pressure2 reading of 99546KPs 14000 PSI. that is an error from the scanner i assume. I also have a reading of 81.21 Hz. Do you know if the Baro in the PCM reports frequency or a varying voltage level?
Are you saying that with the Baro sensor internal to the PCM The scan tool should report a voltage not a frequency reading? I can't probe the sensor if it is inside the computer. It is possible that the program in the Xtool scanner is buggy. I will try to read it with other scanners when the truck comes back. I will clean the back pressure tube and replace the cam sensor because of intermittent codes. Your videos have been very helpful Thanks

I'm having a low power issue in my 01 that I can't figure out. If my map sensor is plugged in, it will only make about 1.5-3 pounds of boost. If my map sensor is unplugged it will make 15-16 psi of boost. I can't seem to figure this one out, nor can I find anything on the forums or TH-cam. The map is new, the voltage is right on the money. If I put shop air to the map regulated at 20 psi it will show on the scanner that we are feeding it 20 psi and the truck will try to come alive. I have no smoke, no intake restrictions, nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello I’m currently having a a shifting issue with my 97 f350 7.3l the transmission will shift great then it will randomly act like it’s not getting the signal to shift and flashing the overdrive light. If I unhook the batteries for a couple hours and hook them back up the transmission will shift smoothly again. I’m guessing it’s the pcm under the dash? Have you or anyone come across this issue? Thanks for any information and feedback.
Not sure if it is this issue, but I know the wires from the OD switch can get chaffed and cause a fuse to blow. Perhaps an item to check. Would be interested to hear if you got it fixed, what it was.
The SCT x4 in my experience is a very safe tuner from a experienced company , Has 3 on board tunes you can also load other tunes from there web site , has a data logger and acts as a code reader plus other helpful functions . It is also one of very few tuners that you can back up your factory tune to a separate computer for safe keeping
The swap you did is a normal upgrade and the engine won't be a issue its the auto transmission that a small percentage have had issues with so if you have a auto and have had no issues you are good to go
I'm not getting any baro codes however live data shows 0psi at all times and I'm getting lots of black smoke, slightly low on power, and harsh shifting at times. Any ideas if the symptoms I'm having are from a bad baro sensor? @@CUSTOMWORKS7.3PSD yes. Issue was present before all that. Seems to have gotten just a touch better after the new bellowed up pipes because the old were leaking and causing me to not get good boost. I might also add that the truck fires off immediately even when sitting for a week, and idles super smooth. Just can't get this darn smoking issue sorted out
@@tylerwightman2315 do you still have the ebpv that flapper not being open will cause this issue , clogged air to air, you still will show good boost numbers, faulty IDM or pcm clogged converter, wires to injectors are not grounding out causing a injector to stay slightly open these are what I would look at it also would be helpful to know the egt's at 60mph empty and the above is all taking in account there is no tuning

When I buzz test them they all sound loud, healthy, and even like they are getting good power, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to do an integrity test on them. I also bought a new map sensor I need to install just for kicks. I might also add that the previous owner said this problem started immediately after he had a shop put new injectors in it. I know him from work and he drove for 3 years like that before I got the truck. Since he said the problem started after injector replacement I went right for the injectors first and put another set in with no change
