- This is the 3rd update from my friend Jerry's yard to see how his trees are growing. Jerry has a real fruit forest happening in his yard. He fits many fruit trees and still has room for more.

I enjoyed watching this gentleman show his food forest but it was hard listening to you criticizing him about his plant distance. People can do whatever they want. Be happy he allowed you to see what he’s proud of. I wish he had his own channel.

@@silverfizzytake the LSU fig out of the ground. Dig all the native soil out. Put at least a 5 gallon bucket(preferably larger) with drainage holes into the hole you dug and fill it up with a potting mix.
Leave the edge of the bucket about 4” above grade. Supposedly nematodes don’t travel deeper than 18” and will not enter into your soil.
After taking my figs out of the native FL soil (they were in there for 2 years) they came alive and produced fruit.
I know you prefer trees that are stronger but that’s what I’ve learned to do.
Also have read that nematodes can be controlled with shrimp shell meal or crab meal. Never tried though.

what an awesome property. I'd have fun growing all those trees. I have to make do with a normal residential lot, but I still pack'em in.

I like your content but please allow people to plant as close as they wanna plant.. out in the wild there is no regulation ..and trees produce

I’m surprised he left those pine trees with hurricanes making toothpicks out of them. I’d cry forever if they messed up those lovely fruit trees. Wonder if he has a lot of nature visiting his yard. Box turtles love my fallen loquats and persimmons after the birds get part of them…he should have camp sites in his yard😂😝😜✌️💯👍🏻❤️

I’ve had 11 50+ year old mango tress grow literally touching each other at the trunks and produced the most in west palm.

18:36 yeah. I totally believe in spreading the same plants in several locations around the property with different microclimates. Jam them all together and prune once a year.

Love your banana shirt! That’s a fantastic place. I bet it smells good,2. I bought 3.5 acres that has some old fruit trees on it and tons of other stuff but still too much grass for me. Loquat is one of my favorite trees and my rabbits love the leaves, also love Brewster lychee.,zbox turtles love any fruit so I don’t care if it’s not so great it will feed some hungry soul. Jupiter gets nearly double the annual rainfall as here in St. Petersburg Fl. I wish we got that much rain. I wouldn't have to water either.

#12:22 Keow Savoy mango is a Thailand variety lol not Indian. Both Santol and sweet Santol is a waste fruit bro it can enhance other fruit juice flavor but that is about it. I just finish watching this video, Wow bro what a mind-boggling exotic fruit heaven he has created in that farm. Fantastic collection. He has great energy. I love his farm. Some of the fruit trees are actually huge and seems like very productive. What a lucky man.

Cempedak, do you grow that too?
I choose Nangadak because it has better resistance for rain. It is a cross hybridization between Jackfruit mini and Cempedak.

1:09:13 persimmon in zone 10A. I’m in zone 10 B so it’s good to see there might be some hope for my tree to survive and hopefully set fruit.
I’m in 10a growing several Vietnamese Pinks. The largest one ( about 4 feet tall) currently has 5 pomegranates that are ripening on it. 😊 it’s two years old. It’s flowered several times but this is the first time the fruit stayed on it and they’re doing well!

Wow that stuff is close. My trees are spaced 20 feet minimal and in many cases 35 feet.
Sounds like you know what you’re doing. Many people here are delusional thinking massive tropical trees that get up to 40ft tall with trunks 3 feet wide can be planted 6 feet apart from each other without problems.
Reminds me of the Lysenkoist “close-planting” nonsense. These people clearly don’t grow their own food for a living or else they’d be starving.

I have also mini garden plants with variety of bearing fruits like mango avocado papaya mulberry bananas guava guyabano Anonas tamarind mabolo jackfruits sugar apple Chico Miracle fruit .thanks forthis vlog
He’s got a cool attitude. If he put a little more energy into them he might gets some more fruits. I wonder if the trees he could take out could save and sell or give to someone else in the same zone 🤔

What’s the hang up with high density and ultra high density?
I want to plant close and so many people do but if you plant too close you will have to take out trees in the future. That's okay just when you are planting your trees plan on what ones you will want to keep and what ones you will want to remove. its also a lot of work grow trees close together and I want people to understand that.

That white sapote that was growing long lateral branches and he said it wasn’t growing right, maybe it was looking for more direct sunlight. If that problem persists I think I would give it more direct sunlight
It is in a very nice sunny spot and growing very rapidly. The tree just produces very fast growth and the soft new branches droop from the weight. I also grow Bonita Springs, Denlzer, Redwoods, and Sue Belle and none of these cultivars have this bush like growth pattern.

I have a Gao Lim Krong tree. Seems to be a vigorous tree. Fruit is similar shaped to Maha Chanok. Seems to also be very disease resistant

It's funny how you tell people stuff is too close, even when the trees aren't touching. You would hate my yard, my trees are 5 feet apart, but pruned every year to restrict size, I also grow bonsai, same concept. I'm with this guy I'd rather have a collection of a variety then worry about spacing.
5 ft is way too close for fruit trees to thrive in my opinion. Where are you located I'd love to come see your yard and see how you make it work
@@FruitfulTrees I'm in Oregon, all my trees are less than 6' tall, I keep them pruned, it's a bit of work but I enjoy it, and I get plenty of crop, apples, peaches, cherry, I enjoy your content, your doing a great job.

This is the first time I've seen your channel. I'm curious, why does it matter how close the trees are? In nature, if a person is trying to mimic nature, trees grown closer than that, survive and produce fruit. I say let nature do what nature does. Great content though.
They read information that trees do better spread apart. This incorrect information has taken off like wildfire on TH-cam. No where in the world does anyone else say this, but Floridians think they know better.

Is that mostly casurina leaves/needles being used as mulch?
Can someone confirm if he is planting directly into the sand? Or if he is digging the hole, pouring some compost or other soil and planting in that? I also live in Jupiter and the ground is all sand and I haven’t had any luck.
I don't know what exactly he does but you can plant directly into the sand

Fwang tung is the smaller starfruit variety in my front yard. I prefer the taste over the giant Kari in my backyard.
Fwang Tung is nice but I like Kari Better
I'm not sure but I think most people do, I want whichever is the sweetest and tastes the best.

Some of his fruits are not producing that much or none at all because it's too close to each other, competing nutrients as well as won't expose to sunlight. He also mentioned that he's not pruning?

This Fruit Tree Forest is Unbelievable Until You See It - and now it is 'believable. But I see a garden, not a 'forest' . If there were not so much grass to keep down, I'd say it weere forest if there were ground cover of an edible nature or medicinal use...
I understand this chap is a happy gardener, but I would not call this a food forest. -
I would remove santol, and plant something more valuable. It's almost useless fruit, nothing to eat.

You might just as well have made this as a radio program.
The program is all about "FruitTrees" so I watched 20 minutes in all because you never showed any trees close up or any fruit. All you did was walk around talking & showing trees in the distance. You might know all about fruit trees but you made sure that I didn't see any tree close up or in fruit There was nothing shown that cought my attention..
