I agree. Luxury skincare is NOT worth it. The most important thing is finding a simple cleanser/moisturizer/spf routine that you’ll use daily, then add in actives (like retinol and vitamin C) as needed.

Also use Equate Lovely Glow, it's version of Jergen's Natural Glow self tanning lotion. Both are great. Cetaphil girl here! Cerave burns my face so bad. I’m not sure what’s in it that makes it burn but I’ve tried it many times cause I want to love it but it just keeps burning. @A C I get that way with so many products because of my rosacea. Cetaphil is a brand that doesn’t bother my rosacea with most of their products. Cerave I put it on and my skin gets hot and my cheeks burn. Cetaphil feels more soothing to me. I hope it works good for you like it does for me!

I’ve never tried cerave but I do love cetaphil and decided to go for it instead simply because it says it’s hypoallergenic and cerave doesn’t say it. Usually creams that don’t say it’s hypoallergenic will cause me some kind of burn/allergy/redness, not sure if it’s because I have dermatitis? So I didn’t even give it a try… plus, cetaphil feels so good on the skin. And I never even
realised there was a difference in price!

It is so soothing and healing and works well for my sensitive oily acne-prone dehydrated face. I also use the equate CeraVe dupe facial cleanser as a second cleanse at night and it is super hydrating but removes the last traces of makeup. I'm in my 50s and started to have itchy, patchy skin, as well as breaking out around the nose. My health insurance doesn't cover the fees for a specialist or dermatologist, so I did alot of research on my own and came across your videos as well as videos of other dermatologists, and you all raved about Cetaphil and Cerave.
I decided to try Cetaphil first because it was on sale at my local Target. However, it just made my skin more itchy and worse than it was. I switched to Cerave foaming facial cleanser, moisturizing cream, and also using their healing ointment. Oh my gosh, the first day the itchiness was gone. And within 4 days my face cleared up, is more plump, dryness and itchiness are completely gone. Cerave is now my new best friend. This product line is definitely a keeper for me.

I bought the Equate giant vat of moisturizing cream that's supposed to be like CeraVe (the Equate cream has ceramides). I love it! In my case it performs just as well as CeraVe. Applied to my damp skin post shower it keeps my skin feeling supple and moisturized all night. Additionally, it spreads and absorbs beautifully. IOW, it's pleasant to apply. I reapply in the morning before applying SPF just as I did with CeraVe. So in my use case, I get equivalent performance for six dollars less. I'm quite satisfied. Thank you for turning us in to CeraVe, Cetaphil, and now their generics. Excellent content as always, Dr. Dray!

Also, I tend to get hand eczema in the winter if I'm not careful (I live in northern Minnesota where winters are brutal), and using the Cerave moisturizing cream you showed here every time after washing my hands seems to ward it off well. My nails and cuticles look good too, so I've never strayed from that product since it works so incredibly well for me. I can even use a little bit on my face on occasion with no issues if it's feeling a bit dry. The cerave ointment applied to my hands under cotton gloves overnight has saved me more than once when the eczema flared, but using the cream throughout the day has prevented me from having to do that for a long time now, as well as other hand care tips of yours that I've implemented.

My family is Cerave. Used Cetaphil before but Cerave has been a game changer. Cerave is the only cream that has helped my husband's extreme dry skin. I use their cleansing products and cream as well. Love them! LOL I have a strong sense of smell so I bet I would notice the difference in Equate and Cerave.

Love these videos!!!, I learn so much…. I like both ( cerave and cetaphil) however, for some reason I always end up buying Cerave. And actually, now that I remember.. the only product I’ve tried from Equate is the healing ointment, I bought it because it’s smaller than the cerave healing ointment and I fits in my small bags in wintertime.

    CeraVe
I am buying more Equate products to avoid "new" formulas. I am loving the Equate dandruff shampoo, Cetaphil moisturizing lotion dupe and will try the CeraVe moisturizing dupe. CeraVe is my go to, but I will give it a try based on my experience with Equate. Love your vlogs❣️

  • @EvangeliumDiSilenti
    @EvangeliumDiSilenti ปีที่แล้ว +5

Yep you're right! I'm peeved that cetaphil changed their formula. However, I disagree that the consistency is the same as the old formula. That's the first thing I noticed upon opening the container. Its like it came out of the fridge now. Hard. It used to be more light and creamy. Now it feels waxy... I'll try picking up the equate version and see if it's still the old formula. It's been a few months now..if not then I guess I'll have to try cerave!

Here in Quebec, I find the Personnelle (Jean Coutu) healing ointment an excellent dupe for Aquaphor (mostly petrolatum), As far as Cerave and Cetaphil, they both sting me and I still use them anyway, because I love their richness. I usually buy the brand name products when they are on sale, and therefore almost the same price as the dupes.

I am SO happy you have done this video! I use Cereve because of the 3 ceramides etc rather than Cetaphil. I love Eucerin Advanced Repair and use it all over including my face because of you-don’t like the other formulations. This is an amazing moisturizing and date I say anti-aging (?) product. I’ve purchased both Equate version to Cerave PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion and the real Cereve version. Like you I don’t notice a difference but I don’t trust that it’s as good long term. The Cereve is so cheap compared to most anti-aging products that I don’t mind paying $4-$5 (I’m not sure that is the price difference-seem more like $3 but maybe it varies depending on the market in one’s area). Thank you for this video !

I tried the CVS brand for Amlactin and didn’t like it. It left too much of a white cast when trying to rub it in. I returned it. Some store brands are pretty comparable to the brand name, some aren’t. You just have to try and see.
Also, Walmart prices on skincare and cosmetics are usually about $4 cheaper than drugstore prices.

I still use the oldest Play cream cleanser on the market, the $5. Gentle Cleansing Cream. I've never found a generic dupe for it, and I've carried my half-empty pump bottles of it into stores so I can read and compare ingredients. And I sometimes use Dove bar soap, unscented/sensitive skin formula for a second wash. So my sensitive, rosacea moody and patchy face is tougher than I thought!

I love CeraVe because it was one of the few affordable drugstore brands back in the days to add niacinamide into their lotion (PM). I've been using PM for nearly a decade now. Also their body lotion (not the cream here) has been my go to for years. The ointment is used as a lip balm and it's the best lip balm I've used. However, recently Cetaphil has amped up their body lotion lines. I especially like the one with niacinamide.
