I have never seen or heard of any banjo teacher applying any analysis of banjo playing. I was so impressed by your instruction I joined your Patreon page. I really like your analysis videos. Thanks
Pretty rare to find someone who plays awesomely and also teaches awesomely. Both things are tough to do. Got yourself a gift there, son. Thanks for sharing it.
Good breakdown. I really dig this sound on the banjo and a lot of it has to do with staying away from the open 2nd string. Gives it a real bonechokin' holler sound.
Nice video, Ricky. I like your analysis/description of what he's doing, and having the tab blocked out as a visual is really great. Good teaching, mate!
You can get the drive book at sheet music plus from germany. My copy took almost 5 months to get to me. But you can get it until there out that's the last place online I could find it
Hi Ricky, Great insight to Russ' Pickin. Can you please post a link to Russ' Video. I tried searching for the original video but came up blank. May I also suggest you turn off the multi screen view when you display the TAB.
Hey Archie, unfortunately his video is only on Instagram, but I posted it on my Patreon. Okay, thanks for the suggestion, I'll have to figure that one out, that software is new to me.
@@RickyMier Thanks Ricky. Alas I don't do social media other than TH-cam. Good luck with the new software, There will be an option to restrict the number of windows open Look under the View Menu if it has one.
Hey Ricky - you have an excellent handle on understanding “High Lonesome Sound” - how can I get the tab for that.. Can I pay for it in some way. Thank you - James
If you're playing behind vocals and rolling in this style how do check in that it's not too busy? Would it depend on what other ensemble members are playing?
Good question. As long as what is being done is rhythmically and harmonically resolute, you'll be okay. Stay away from chord tensions and stick to a roll theme and you'll be playing with Beyonce in no time
Ricky Mier plays Russ Carson plays Ron Block!

Hey thanks Ed, more to come
@@RickyMier I was actually able to acquire a custom Gold Star GF-300 (GP-381) from Russ. My favorite.

Hey that means a lot Richard, thanks for watching
Thanks Ricky, I didn't know a thing about backup. I thought it was actually much more difficult, but this seems to be doable. Thanks man
Yeah this backup is more 'yin', for lack of a better word. I'm glad you found it useful
some easy things are best
You my best teacher
:D

hey good beta, thanks man
Sadly, they don't have it anymore. :(
Great video! I really like breaking down the language of the banjo. For me, identifying the roll really helps break down what is going on.
Honestly roll language is the reason for my banjo liberation, I'm glad your getting some benefit from it
fly content - I'm all over you patreon rn for that sweet tab
I'm glad you found it buddy!
Great info, thank you!
You rock Jesse
