      @Mike JT lmao I doubt you have met someone that doesn’t like pizza. I know I haven’t. So the validity of saying a big chain pizza place is their favourite is a safe brand deal. Because who’s going to have proof that it isn’t their favourite, and if anyone does who cares it’s pizza. Regardless dominos and papa johns have been very successful long before those commercials. Just like the players were successful long before those commercials. So a little money in Wayne and ovi’s pocket and papa Johns and dominos get money from suckers that believe it.

    “This is BS a prospect is not property” is a false equivalent. No one is forcing the player to play for the team that drafted them. If he doesn’t sign with them he should have to wait another year and redeclare. Otherwise what’s the point of the draft if a player can just sign where he wants in the first place.

    About Connor Bleakley. Coach Patrick Roy was furious with the scouting staff when he saw him at the camp in 2014 after not being impress with Chris Brigras the previous year.
    Bleakley wasn't going to be signed and Arizona never intended to. He was more valuable unsigned then under contract. As per NHL draft rules, when a team do not sign a first round pick they are given an extra second round pick at the same slot position in the round as was the player not sign. So basically instead of inserting a second round pick in the trade they just included Bleakley and not sign him, therefore receiving a second round pick

  • @bpita0202
    @bpita0202 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Bleakley... oof. Thanks for reminding me. I couldn’t remember who the Avs drafted between MacKinnon and Rantanen. In the modern era the Avs don’t really have a lot of late round stars. You’ll have to go back to the Quebec days. I think O’Reilly and Barrie in the 2nd then 3rd rounds were pretty good, but the Avs didn’t capitalize on Ryan. That being said, the Avs’ current crop of top ten pick talents weren’t shoe-ins (none of the McDavid sure-fires to take away the drama). MacK wasn’t an auto number 1 and there were a few guys picked ahead of Rantanen at 10.
    There are a few guys I can see potential in, but I’m not going to brag about them. But I like Sasha Mutala and Justus Annunen. Newhook doesn’t count.

    Ever hear of Nick Boynton? He was the ninth overall pick in the 1997 NHL draft by the Capitals. They couldn't come to terms and Boynton reentered the draft in 1999 and was a first round pick by Boston. He had a decent career. The Caps on the other hand had nothing to show considering that Marian Hossa was selected three picks later in 1997.

    The big question...if Ovi was just 2 days older and therefore eligible for the '03 draft. Would Florida have drafted him 1st OVR instead of trading the pick to Pit. I know they wanted him but would they have used a 1st overall pick on him in a stacked draft?
    Pretty sure North American players can't do that if their bday is after September 15 because they will be 21 in that draft year and thus ineligible for that draft. Only non NA players are still eligible at that age.

    I really like the drafting and the salary cap. It is ways to try and spread the talent among many teams and make more teams and more games competitive.
    A 2 year right seems rather good imo.
    The discussions here is between the rights of the trainer and the rights of the organisation. And here NHLPA is often doing a good job in helping players and their rights.
    Which is kind of ironic, a socialistic system with a strong labour union in America.

    For the most part the NHL draft appears to be as good as it can be for the good of the game. A player can roll the dice and refuse to sign forcing a trade or a reentry into the draft 2 years later. The NHLPA needs to continue to try and get the player free of the drafting team as quickly as possible. It seems each year the younger player coming off their 3 year entry deal are signing huge contracts.

    NHL teams should own the drafted players right as long as they offer a contract. The CBA makes it so that every team can competitively sign entry level contracts and not have to break the bank. It will be problematic when a 1st overall generational player refuses to sign with the team who takes them 1st overall and then a few years later goes elsewhere.

    When a player is drafted, they should have the option to sign with the drafting team to play in the NHL or the minors for one year, or to not sign with them and not sign with anyone else until they can reenter the draft and be picked by another team. They should not be allowed to refuse to sign with the draft team and then turn around and sign with another team. This way the team "owns" them, but they can refuse to be "owned" by that team.

    • @TrickRider58
      @TrickRider58 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure how that's different from the current system. Players already have to wait if they want to go to a different team, whether it's through re-entering the draft or signing as a free agent.

  • @jejsemin33
    @jejsemin33 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Draft picks should have to sign their entry level contract with the team that drafts them, after that it's the team's responsibility to get them to stay. Need parity in the NHL, it's good for the league. The player isn't bound to that team forever, just for the first 3 years

    RTH: video idea, talented players that had their careers come to an abrupt end. (Think Nathan Horton)

    Do a video on players that go to free agency and fail.

    But mcdavid was crazy excited to join the oilers cause they brought in Gretzky to help out the organization but he was not as excited when chirelli the gm dragged the team down for 3-4 years after lol

    heatley was an overaged #2 overall he could of been drafted the previous year but did not enter because he knew of signing bonuses of 1st rounders , he was only projected as a pick in the 4th round i hear so waiting a year improved his bottom line . I was in attendance for this draft even embarassed mike milbury for trading the 3,4,5 picks of the 97 draft away in that draft , he traded ollie jokinen , roberto luongo and brewer . funny kevin lowe grinned at my comments .

    If a player doesn't sign with their draft team and signs with another team, the signing team should have to pay the drafting team by giving up money and future first round picks.

    Freddy was traded for draft picks and not players. it's like saying Wayne Gretzky was NOT TRADED for fiat currency but rather whatever it is that the Oilers did with that cash. Draft picks is money and thus why you failed to say such is odd because finding twisty ways to lie or to twist truth is uncool.
