Welcome back. I'm recovering slowly from my hospitalization (Not covid related) and still sticking with you. None of my EF's have this problem but it's nice to see how the top is removed. Thanks Tom
great video. will be a great resource for anyone trying this themselves. always amazed how these cameras look from the inside. clever mechanics and no longer being made. love the 2:47 casual comment on ‘kind of delicate to have things in the right position’ 😎
Occasionally you might stumble on a little humor in a FOC video. Repairing the classic cameras will often offer lessons in humility and opportunities to chuckle at ourselves. Thank you for your encouragement and for you interest in Fix Old Cameras.
Great video as always. My Canon EF has a different problem. Most of time it still fires the shutter when the switch is off. Is there an easy fix ? Also it give me correct readings for 100 Asa when i set the dial to 400 but i guess its because of voltage of 1.5v battery
Thank you for great video. I have a Canon EF in very good condition. The mechanics works very well, but the electric part light meter and electric controlled speed doesn´t work, the red LED is also not working. Can you help me plesase or to show in video how to fix the electric on the Canon EF.
Any advice on realigning the exposure indicator at the bottom of the view finder? Mine stays stuck some times and doesn't match the speed selected in the dial.
Hello from France. I've bought a very fungy New FD 70-210 pull-push. Do you have some advice about how to disassembly the optical parts? The first optical element, ok, obvious. The second one - I don't know how. And If I start from the opposite side I can release the rear group, but it blocked, it can't be pulled out. Do I need to disassemble the whole rear section?
Hello i got a question for a minolta xg7. When ever i want to set my own shutter speed.( taking off the auto feature) it will sometimes still set it own shutter speed. Like example, i set it to 1000/sec, and it will still go a slower shutter speed, like of the auto shutter speed is still on. Sometimes the shutter would stay open like if it was in bulb mode. Then i have to turn it off and on again to reset it. I cleaned the light sensor but it still has this problem. My battery level is fine, and i just dont know what to do..
Hi! I'm desperately trying to repair my EF. Initially the rewind lever had seized. I removed the bottom cover and removed a small bit of plastic from the mechanism however when winding a new frame it automatically fires the shutter, any suggestions?
Hello, I bought an OM4 days before, unfortunately I found it’s Shutter curtain can not wide open at 1/2000 sec. Someone told me I should adjust the tension nut to make the shutter blind tension, but I can’t find where the tension nut is. Could you tell me where it is? Thanks a lot!
My problem with this camera is it's dead. Looks super clean. Taking off the bottom plate, all the wires are attached and look good. I am a little perplexed on what could be the issue as it seems to not get any power. Of course it could be anything. Maybe taking the top plate off might give me some indication. The camera is unmolested and looks like it has been treated well. I don't know if their are capacitors in it that go bad.
HI , I was wondering if you could do a video or give some advice on fixing a pentax mx which has a winder that is free and does not catch. I bought the camera really cheap and knowing that the winder does not catch as i wanted to try and fix the camera. I am hoping you or someone on youtube will know how to fix this problem.
Well you stumped the camera repairman. With a little research found the camera you requested appears to be the same as the STX-1N. So a Fujica STX-1N might just make its way into a FOC video at some future date. Thank you for the comment.
If the fungus is spider web like it will probably leave a scar. If the fungus is more nebulous looking it might be able to be completely removed with no residual effects.
Fix Old Cameras yes the fungus is spider web but I think it would be better to be removed that it could growth. My problem is that I don’t know if is possibile to open the doublet. Do you know if it's possible?
Thanks!
Is there a simple way to clean dust from the inner focus screen without taking the top plate off?

Glad to hear you are doing better and your interest in FOC is always appreciated.
Another great video. I enjoy your videos so much that I watched it even though I don't even own a Canon EF. I wish I had 10% of your repair skills.
Thank you for your kind words and your continued interest in Fix Old Cameras.

The top cover will probably need to be removed so that you can access the on off switch and blocking lever. It is possibly stuck.

I would like a video like that too, just purchased one, and the photometer is broken :(

Hi,
I have a Canon FD 55 1.1.2 with a fungus inside the doublet. Do you think is possibile to clean it?

I have a fujica st705 and the film lever works but the release button won’t make it go off
You might remove the bottom cover and inspect the mirror trip lever to see if it is stuck. (one of several possibilities)
Hi my EF won’t open
It looks like it’s in good condition
I don’t know what to do
