I still have dreams in which I'm playing games that resemble it. Somehow it's not this game, actually I mostly "play" from first person, but deep inside I know it's "this awesome game I spent several weeks playing back in 2011-2012, progressing slowly so I can breathe in the atmosphere of every locale". I do have Doom 3 dreams where I have to fight one or two Hell Knights or Pinkies in very, very tight spaces, with me hearing doors closing behind me and preparing my shotgun and other weapons, gravely afraid... And I last played the game in 2006!
The best game ever made - it’s strange how much comfort I get from this game. The music and sounds are epic. The story is so engrossing. It’s a shame the sequel was so watered down and a shell compared to this masterpiece. But we can still come back to this game and it’s as fresh today as it was then.
I also get a huge amount of comfort from it, which is odd considering it's about The End of All Things. Just brilliant, isn't it? Sound, locations, atmosphere, story... I'd love a remake now having enjoyed the remaster recently. Miss playing it. Not many games I'm sad to complete!
I love the fact that so many people, like myself, have fond memories of this classic. I think a remake is confirmed, even though I am not aware for which consoles etc. This game is one of my all time favourite to this day. The overall vibe of this game was something different!
This one of the best horror games of all time with silent hill vibes. It scared the crap out of me as a kid and i loved every minute of it! Sound, story and gameplay are excellent!
OMG FINALLY I found out the name of this game, i had this game when i was a kid and ive been trying to remember the name of this game for about 4 years now
@@MikeJackson690 Holy shit! this was 7yrs ago. But yeah the remaster by Nightdive Studios is amazing. The Thing remaster by Nightdive is amazing too. I do hope they will remaster Evil Dead games from the early 2000s like. Evil Dead: Hail to the King Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick Evil Dead: Regeneration They would look amazing in the KEX engine.
I've got two games of the kind that blew me away: Shadowman and Legacy of Kain - Soul Reaver. Both are great and unique, never played games like those after. It seemed to take me months to complete them, especially Shadowman, and now seeing this speedrun in almost 3 hours my jaw drops and never gonna return to its initial state! Good Job!
Alan Langley They should remake this game....you should let the word out so more people can know so that means more of a chance some sort of a company going to do that...we gotta do this man..this game is to damn good to just die out
Creepiest part of this gaming experience has to go to being in the Playrooms. I remember I couldn't play that particular part of the game at night because the music was just too damn twistedly dark and frightening as hell! Damn!.... the good old days when they used to make ballsier video games. Now it seems all gaming companies do is continue this lazy cycle of borrowing off each others game Mechanics because it's simply proven to sell with the right amount of ad exposure. Shadowman was definitely part of the awesome silver age of games. It's such a shame we'll never get a gaming experience like this anymore.
love it bro how you beat this game in under 3 hours...i have been trying to beat it for years lol..i always felt this game was often overlooked..exceptional music..foreboding atmosphere along with memorable characters and story..i did feel however the controls were pretty damn clunky..would be awesome to see someone remake this game in the cryengine lol..love this game
I must have spent 100 hours with all the times I played this game. the music and sound would get in my head, I swear It was effecting my dreams and I would hear whispering when I was awake. I wish they would remake it, it would be pretty amazing
I recolect alll these 120 darksouls and all objects, only 2 secrets don't founded whitout any guide, just explore, but take me about 50 hours more or less, this game it's awsome, sorry about my terrible spelling n.n, I'm mexican living in mexico.
I finished this game two times. One time as a kid about 15 years ago. And second time 3 years ago as an adult. Still haunts in some places when You play it as an adult. But even when I played it second time, it was in my case always a lot of going back and forth and searching for voodos. You on the other hand are a machine. You played it like You know every corner of every part of the game. Really impressive. And when I was finishing that game I missed on or two voodos, that I couldn't find even if I tried really hard.
Finally, after almost 17 freaking years I finally completed the game today with all Dark Soul collected. I never found all the cadeus though, I had about 96 left to collect but never bothered.
Before internet existed we have to struggle to figure out everything by ourselves... This game is really creepy. I kept repeating "I am the lord of deadside" all day long, and also the cutscenes are still vivid in my head today 2019. "Shadowborn at the confluence of worlds to walk between. Liveside is without the meaning that my partly living possesses here, in Deadside, where the darkness is manifest at the edges of reason. As a god I step forth upon the writhing, suppurating surface of the Deadside serpent. What sleep is here? What dreams there are in the unctuous coilings of the snake's mortal shuffling. Weapon in my hand, My hand, the arching deathblow at the End of All Things. The horror.. the horror, I embrace it."
When I played it the first time I was 10 and I was too scared to finish it. I finished it 9 years later in the army when a mate brought his N64 to the barracks.
Cool to see another person interested in speedrunning this :). So far I have been pretty much on my own so most of the time went into route planning and finding tricks. I don't remember how many tries since I had the route figured out maybe less than 10 but then I already new all the tricks.
i use to avoid looking at the sisters cuz id get nightmares xD the noise they made freak me out too well each creature has there own unique sound which all made me run like hell and spam the trigger.
I remember this game haha. I remember me and my mom were at a flee market and I asked her to stop at a GameStop that was there so I could buy my brother a game for his N64. To my disappointment, he had already borrowed or bought the game so we were stuck with two of this same game. That was obviously looong time ago and I have no idea what he ever did with the games (probably sold them). Anyways, this game used to give me the creeps :)
Most underrated game of all time!! story line was incredible. My brother and I would be in a trance playing this game. I wish they would remake it for ps4. Games today help you along the way but this game did not. You had to figure it out or it would take you forever.
Man, I barely remember anything about this game, except that it was spooky, and cool lore, and cool weapons. I can't remember if my brother and I ever beat it, but we must have played it for hundreds of hours.
Ngot this game when I was 6-7 years old, i got to the church in the beginning and got scared the fuck out and had fkin nightmares lmao, played it again a couple years later and had a blast, truly a great game
That is amazing. I played that game for months and constantly lost track of where I was and what I had done/collected, constantly getting stuck. The game is a true marvel, huge and wonderfully deep. In the end I think I gave up though, I then purchased the Dreamcast version with the intention of having another go at a later date. Which I will do one day.
I remember I actually spent soo much time on Jack level. Too many ways to go and explore, I also found some electric ladders very deep on the level design. That was the hardest level for me. No one of my friends ever played this. The best of N64 along with Starcraft 64
I remember beating this game and missing 2 dark souls in the end. And I could see the pods that contained them, just didn't know how to get there. Pissed me off. Now I watch this speed run and barely remember doing any of this stuff. lol
I remember playing this game as a kid on my n64 and didn't know how to do crap but jump and I got stuck numerous times and never finished the game smh. I gotta find this game and buy a n64 just to play it again the memories.

We used to have this game in a corner shop when I was a kid, you remember them corner shops that had a little selection of PS1 games & VHS movies, I remember just being drawn to the box art everytime man. Him in the glasses, holding that skull, & on the back cover it showed these headless enemies. I gotta admit though once playing it, I never really got into it, I take my hat off to the vibe & stuff but idk I think I just got a bit lost on it tbh, too many places to go, but after reading all the love for it in the comments, and watching some of this video, I might just give it another crack.
As someone who has played it on steam, this port is very incredible with how much content they were able to keep (and add a second Violator) the PS veriosn on the other hand...
never beat the game but had a blast playing it. great atmosphere to it for the time and boy does it look crappy on a flat screen now lol. This was made for crt. Turok dinosaur hunter was another memorable game besides of course the ultimate one 007 golden eye.
Really impressed by this run even though it's 6 years old, very well done sir. Was this done with the original controller or a hori? Your movement is great and I cannot seem to emulate anything like that with my original n64 joystick 😖
fantastic job. some of those jumps you done to get to areas in the marrow gates...well, brilliant :) you're the only person (so-far) i know of that uses manual snipe mode as a tool for fine-tuning jumps! there is one thing: you can save time by having one item equipped when climbing ledges. you climb slower if both hands are empty. i was thinking of the amount of jumps you made in the entire speedrun and how it's entirely possible that each jump might be .3-5secs quicker with one item equipped? damn! that's worth thinking about ;)
I stayed up almost for four days with my dad when I was little and watched him play this! I didn’t really realize it at the time but when you actually listen to the music in the Asylum ITS FUCKIN CREEPY MAN!!! I was so naive when I was about ten years old!! I’ve always thought they should Make a movie about this game It would be EPIC!!
You have to shut down the engine at several locations with different codes. It's in one of the files, I think Jack's. One of them is 555 and the tumblers stop automatically once they're all down.
I always liked this game when I was younger but could never beat it or figure it out even with the map. I kept getting lost or missed steps. I like this dark gothic voodoo concept of it I just could never figure out what it was all about.

i was thinking of the amount of jumps you made in the entire speedrun and how it's entirely possible that each jump might be .3-5secs quicker with one item equipped?
damn! that's worth thinking about ;)
Watching N64 footage makes me really glad I experienced it on Dreamcast.
I stayed up almost for four days with my dad when I was little and watched him play this! I didn’t really realize it at the time but when you actually listen to the music in the Asylum ITS FUCKIN CREEPY MAN!!! I was so naive when I was about ten years old!! I’ve always thought they should
Make a movie about this game
It would be EPIC!!
What's this game about ?
Why the 95 souls? To get to 9th upgrade and open final door + engine room? And is there a 100% run (with cadeaux etc)?
You have to shut down the engine at several locations with different codes. It's in one of the files, I think Jack's. One of them is 555 and the tumblers stop automatically once they're all down.
One of my favorite games...
Does anyone know if the jump at 4:56 can be done on the Steam version? I've tried several times and can't get close to making this jump.
This game kicked my ass when I was a kid. Do miss the 90's though.
This my childhood game in the world
I bought the game for my retro Pentium III rig. It gives me a lot of nostalgia.
I always liked this game when I was younger but could never beat it or figure it out even with the map. I kept getting lost or missed steps. I like this dark gothic voodoo concept of it I just could never figure out what it was all about.
Excellent gameplay. I used to have the Dreamcast version of the game.
man it's been so long since i played this game, gonna get it on ebay
"Damn i don't have enough Cadeux...100 are required to make an offering to the-LLOOOAAAAAA" Lol
