      Thank you very much for your kind words, Anthony! I really gave one of my best pieces of advice in this video and I'm glad you liked it! Encouragements are important and people who write kind words give the necessary fuel for creating the next good things! All the best!

    I enjoy all your common sense videos. You nailed it again in this one. When professionally shooting, I use my full frame Canon with L lens. When visiting Las Vegas for street photography I only take my old Canon T5i w:/24mm pancake.

      Thank you! Using one camera for professional work and another for street photography is a great way to separate work from hobby. A smaller camera not only offers better mobility but also helps us feel more relaxed, making our walks more enjoyable.

      Absolutely, there's no pressure when using an older smaller camera, just personal fun! It's like I wear two camera hats, one as a pro and one as a happy explorer. Your videos are enjoyable, just subscribed and thumbs up-ed your clips.@@cameraexplorations

    Hi, I really enjoyed your video. I'm searching for my daily camera with the same logic you explained. Do you think the e-m10 mk II is a great purchase these days? Can I find something smaller or better at the same price?

    • @cameraexplorations

      Hi! I’m glad you enjoyed it! The E-M10 mark II was released in 2015, while the E-M10 mark III was released in 2017. The mark II is still good nowadays, but I would go for the mark III. The latter has improved ISO performances and, if you need it, 4K video recording. These are the main differences, so there is not a big compromise if you choose the Mark II. It still has all the benefits mentioned in this video and, with a good-versatile lens, like the the Olympus 17mm f/1.8, for sure it will make a good companion that you can always take with you.

      @@cameraexplorations Thanks for the reply. I'm not interested in video, and I'll have to pay 120€ more for the mark III. I don't think it's worth it.

      @ziopera the mkiii version of the EM10 stripped out some of the features of the mkii such as my sets and the useful feature to change the function of the dial settings. If you are not going to use video that much I would recommend the EM10 mkii. It’s a great camera and is metal bodied.

    Great video mate! I've been shooting M43 since 2015 and have owned quiet a few models but the ones I currently own closest to those shown in this video would have to be my Panasonic G85 that came with a 25mm 1.7 for $400 AUD and score of a find my OMD EM10 IV with a Oly 25mm 1.8 for $400 AUD as well. I can agree with many points you make and I find I enjoy my EM10 IV a lot! Especially for travel and casual shooting.

    I use the Olympus M1 mark I a lot for streetfotography. Ist is fairly small, has a usable EVF, flip-up screen and is waether-sealed. On top of that its robust and fast. You can get them used for around 300€.

      The M1 series is great! Form mark I to mark III, all of them are excellent cameras! Glad to hear that you're enjoying it! I'm also interested in purchasing an M1 - maybe this will happen in the near future.

    Very good points, I have an OM-D E-M1II, an OM-D E-M5 II, an OM-D E-M10 II and a TG-6. I bought the mark II series due to all magnisium alloy construction and not much improvement over mark III series (except by OM-D E-M5, I think that worth it). Each has its charm, but I think I like the E-M10 II the most, and is because the tilt screen.
    The only thing to consider is that the weather sealing in the E-M1 II and E-M5 II allows you to be really confortable on the outside and don't think of the equipment. On the other hand, unfortunatedly, there are no compact weather sealed lenses, so you need to carry the PRO lenses that are a bit annoying.
    E-M5 or E-M10 with 25mm F1.8 is a superb combination. The 17mm is gorgeous, but I find the optical quality of the 25mm better than the 17mm.
    Regards, excelent content

      Thank you, Emiliano! It is nice to see that you own so many OM-D cameras and that you're enjoying them! Glad to hear that the E-M10 II stands out! I agree, weather sealing is important, but it is only available on the more expensive cameras and on the PRO lenses. I am also annoyed that the smaller lenses don`t have it. PRO lenses are too big and they attract some attention. They also attract my attention. The M.Zuiko 25mm f1.2 PRO is the most beautiful prime lens in the world (in my opinion :D). We can also use our smaller-cheaper lenses - they are also good and, luckily, it`s not raining everyday. All the best!

      I also use a EM10 MarkII even though I own an EM 1 MarkII. Its small, inexpensive, has my sets function vs the model III version which they deleted this feature, has the nice tilt screen as mentioned and I just really can't tell the picture quality difference between the Em10 and the EM 1.

      @@cameraexplorations I have a m zuiko 25mm f1.2 ! it really is a super beautiful lens. I still need to practice more with it though. I am having trouble taking shots that I myself find very interesting. I use the 45mm f1.8 much more to be fair. its smaller and I just like the type of pictures I take with it much more...even though the 25 is absolutely gorgeous. the couple good shots I took with it are sublime though!

      @@cyborgchimpy Excellent lenses! Glad you`re enjoying them! I also prefer my longer Sigma 60mm f/2.8 ( today I will post a vlog about it) and tend to use my 25mm f/1.7 less often. Most of the time, I`m switching between the Zuiko 17mm f/1.8 and the Sigma 60mm f/2.8, but the 25 mil has its uses too.

    I'm a photographer and I found a swivel screw more versatile than a tilt screen. Why? because I usually do low level photos in portrait orientation. With a swivel screen you can shoot low level portraits without having to lay down or put your knees on the ground. I use the camera just like an old Rolleiflex, looking at the LCD from the top. Just try to shoot low level photos in portarit orientation with a tilt screen and see what I mean... The reason I've waited for the Olympus OMD EM5 Mark 2 and the OM1 Mark 2 to came out, was because the first generation of those cameras didn't have swivel screen. Anyway, I also have an olympus OMD EM10 Mark 2 (with tilt screen) that I enjoy very much, but I don't use it when I do more serious or paid photo sessions, because it's not so versatile.

    • @cameraexplorations
      @cameraexplorations  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, as mentioned at 3:20 , a flip screen (swivel screw) offers more flexibility than a tilt screen - yes, it is more versatile. For my needs, mainly shooting horizontally, I prefer the tilt screen. The mainly used orientation is given by the shape of the device - more people shoot horizontally on a camera, while on a smartphone they prefer the portrait orientation. This being a YT channel about cameras and street photography, I recommended a camera with a tilt screen. The best screens out there are the ones that we can find on the Panasonic S1H or the Sony A7 IV (both tilting and swiveling) , but those cameras are expensive. You have nice cameras! It's always a pleasure to hear from a fellow Olympus user! I'm looking to get a Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II for myself, I like it. All the best!

    With the abundance of vintage lenses out there, M system is the most practical set up for assistance tools. The peaking doesn't turn off when recording video, they have various peaking colours to choose with, and the UI is comfortable.
    Sadly, in my opinion canon still in the 'milking' old tech without improvement stage.

    • @cameraexplorations
      @cameraexplorations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Indeed, M system cameras are great! Before the M6 Mark II, I had the M50, the M100 and the M5. I enjoyed the M5 very much, because it covers the benefits that are pointed out in this video (regretting that I sold it). Although I don`t use vintage lenses, because I feel like I`m loosing time with manual focusing, the peaking is very useful! It makes manual focusing a lot more enjoyable (especially with the 3 colors from which we can choose, based on preference). Good-comfortable to use cameras with nice image quality - Unfortunately, it is a scenario, like you said, of 'milking' old tech without bringing improvements. I really hope that we will see new EOS M cameras coming out.

    • @Durio_zibethinus
      @Durio_zibethinus ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cameraexplorations fair points. M5 is still on the pricier side, a reminder that it's still viable for many years.

    I agree, the M10 mk3 is a great little camera, however your statement about Canon "ditching the M system" isnt factual.Certainly them concentrating on R is correct.Thats what they said.They also said that if demand is strong for M or EF/s then they will supply.Rudi,the USA canon spokesman has said that M system contributes 30% of revenue for Canons ILC systems and thats why after 4.5 years of R releases, the M stuff continues to be supplied.

    • @cameraexplorations
      @cameraexplorations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is great news! I admit, I didn`t knew this info and based my statement on a hunch. As soon as the R50 was released, I thought it was over for the EOS M system. R50 is replacing the M50 - this was in my mind. I am also aware that no official statement came regarding the termination of EOS M. It seems that many people are enjoying these cameras and are getting emotional if they disappear (me included) - this is why I said what I said. 30% of revenue coming just from the M system is massive. Thank you very much for the comment!

      @@palaneproductions7357 Hi! I had the 18-150. These are some sad news. My guess is that they will, indeed, drop the EOS M System. As soon as I saw that R50, I said to myself that this is not just the M50 replacer, but the end of an era - a wink from Canon that says: "go for the R generation, forget about EOS M" ...
