How to become a UK Firefighter and pass the recruitment process. In this video I discuss my story and experience when going through the uk recruitment process in applying and becoming a uk firefighter. I go through the different stages in brief detail and share my thoughts on how I got through the uk application process to become a firefighter. When I applied I didn't see many of these types of videos available online so my plan is to just give back to you guys what perhaps would've been helpful for me when I was in your position trying to become a uk Firefighter.

After watching a reality tv show of female firefighters i realised that it may be for me.. like you i love fitness and don’t like the idea of being stuck behind the desk all day. The thrill of it is very interesting to me too - the fact that work days will be different is alluring too.
After i finish my final exams for uni, i’ll apply for LFB for sure!
The only thing that makes me hesitate is the night shifts, that was something i’ve always said i’ll never do because i can’t imagine giving up sleep for a job.. but I still got time to look into it!

I had a severe accident in the army and it’s taken me years to get ready for the fire service. Currently applying for the second time at the moment. Really helpful these videos mate. Thank you, Chris.

Our experiences have been very similar! I was wanting a career change and sat in my room, mapping my qualities, this job role popped into my head. I was hesitant at first, thinking I might be too old to apply (just turned 30), but I might as well give it a shot. I am waiting on taster day emails and have been educating myself and training while I wait, so super early doors for me, but I am exited to see what it is like. Hi mate - thanks for the video. There isn't much online . I know a lad who did it for decades but he has retired a few years ago and says it is a different job now.
I have been a self employed window cleaner for 17 years and fancy a new challenge - like you i could nt work in an office and my skill set is physical fitness and interpersonal ... hoping to get a crack this year as i have managed to accept an invite to the online taster session in a week.

Hi mate do they do any heart tests in the medical
@@Maxbristow1_ when I went last week it was a lung function test and blood pressure and they check your average BPM and they will ask you general health questions regarding your heart just make sure to be honest
hi mate, he didnt really explain this part but who the components like using the gloves to connect the kit and all that, do they show you before hand on how to connect everything together? as id be going in blind if so haha

Hey Cam, great video. I have always had a strong desire to join a service, especially the fire brigade. especially after my time through advanced education What were your personal main motivations for becoming a firefighter? why did it stand out as a role that you felt you would be suited for ?
What do you think is the best way to prepare for, for the maths test ? Any specific topic e.g fractions etc
Anything maths related mate I wouldn’t stress about it too much
How strict are they with eyesight? I wear contacts/glasses and unsure if I’ll be able to meet the required eyesight, hope so.
I was just wondering if you can join if you don’t have a drivers license?
When you’re in you have 2 yrs to get a drivers license

Hi nice videos thankyou for the content. Iv been thinking of joining im 42 kept myself fit. Havebyou seen older guys coming through . ? Another question when i was 18 i was dishornable diacharged from army on a drug offence. Probably the biggest mistakes i made as a young lad. Would this effect joining up or do you have a place to contact for more information.

I currently work offshore and do 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off so I’m looking to try to go as a on call fire fighter but my only issue is I did a 6 month sentence when I was younger for criminal damage…. How much of in issue is this or is it going to be impossible for me to be accepted?
For the hearing test what is the limit as I am moderately deaf in one ear and have been wondering for a while if I would be able to join
You should be fine mate. Worst you can do is At least go for it and see what happens

Hi , I unfortunately didn’t meet the standards on the calculation/English tests. You said I have to wait 12 months to reapply , is that from when I failed or or 12 months from when I first applied to be a firefighter ?

I was looking at some stuff and it said the BA training is extremely theoretical. If you can Can you explain please?
Yes BA is one of if not the most important parts to focus on IMO.
How about English and Maths test???? there's no video about it! There's not much information available about it! The links they provide for practice are very general which dosent help at all!

They have like seminars that you can go to, check it out online

When I applied you needed Atleast a grade C or above
How to study for situational judgement test doing it once and failed coming to do it again shortly any tips help would mean alot !
Id say pick the most sensible options
Study the PQAs for your brigade and have them to hand while doing the tests. That really helped me pass on my second attempt.
Took me 6 years to get hired with many letdowns. Now its anyone with a pulse that passes the test. Rule of three doesnt even exist now😂

They will have 1000 applicants for 10 spots and still find a reason to not fill all 10 spots. These idiots still use polygraph tests, the whole things a joke. My advice, do something else… plenty of jobs pay more for less bs.

Each county has different standards . My county asked for full uk driving license upon application
