The first review of yours I watched was the Sony A7s.... close to a decade ago. I'm always floored that your reviews are not only so well thought through and meticulously compiled, but also how they evoke emotion and inspiration seemingly without trying. You are a master at your craft and a gift to this community. Thank you.
I do love how the image quality finally got to the point where it doesn't look like an action cam anymore from a few years back. Even on the more 'budget' friendly drones from DJI.
The key is not to over process in camera. Especially the sharpness and noise reduction. The Mavic 2 Pro had so little processing that it’s still one of the best drones they’ve made and looks more organic than the mavic 3. You can even get a GoPro to look pretty great with their flat profile, low sharpness, optics correction and ND to get that shutter speed. away from action camera nastiness! That’s why I am excited to use DJI’s Action 4 as it’s got that control and D-Log M.
Philip thanks for another cinematic masterpiece, everything about it is just wow! Just wished you put out more work tho I perfectly understand the amount of work that goes into these. Will also be buying through your links. Thanks again from Malaga south Spain

I just want to say thank you for explaining how you got rid of the drone's propellor noise and adding in background sounds. Also love the comparison shots between all the different drones right at the start. I'm not even 4 minutes into the video and this is by far the best video I've seen on the Mini 4 Pro

This is the most comprehensive and informative review / comparison ive seen that is relevant to what we want to hear . Most other content creators are faffing about for content checking each firmware update but missing the flaws because they are rushing out to be first of a bunch of folk all doing the same thing.

And thanks for the info on sharpening as i was one of those that left it on 0 thinking it looked fine up until this summer, but now see the error of my ways...it's more about adding a bit of fine/mid detail in post, like you say. I did get the mini 4 and sold the 3 but concerned about that 120m height limit next year coming to the UK. throws a spanner in the mix for sure.
14:00 I don't like synthesized sharpening features on any camera. I still use a Sony camcorder a lot because it's mostly optical, actual, and without digital manipulation.
There are so many drone channels on TH-cam, but you are the only one that seems to approach it from a filmmaker pov. Thank you for the time and care you put into these. Now, if we could get DJI to give us sharpness control on the Mavic 3 series...

Excellent review as usual, and more or less the only one that goes in detail when it comes to photography and video details beyond the spec sheet. The distortion with the ultra wide-angle lens is a bit disappointing, but I will probably only use that for indoor vertical shots where the ceiling height isn't enough to get the "full picture" with the standard lens. Apart from that, this seems to be the "bee's knees" of drones for my needs, at least for the time being. Again, thank you for a great video!

The review I’ve been waiting for. Almost every other review that comes out on launch date is rather shallow. Every influencer is trying to jump on the hype to get views on their videos where as I know this review if in depth , complete and thoughtful.
This is the review I've been waiting for and, as usual, you don't disappoint. Received mine the day after launch and it's already done a trip up to Scotland. The upgrade for me was quite a jump as it was moving from the Mini 2 to the 4 Pro with the RC2. One noticeable difference between the two drones is that the 4 Pro appears a lot quieter, with less of the 'angry' sound of the Mini 2. Could be due to the props being quite a bit larger on the 4 Pro. It does make an unobtrusive drone even more unobtrusive, which is never a bad thing these days, given people's ever increasing intolerance to just about anything.

One unfortunate thing to add: the sharpness and NR settings are only available in Video, not Photo, mode. However, I believe the RAW files for Photo mode are not sharpened, so all can be done post.

Philip youtube is compressing the videos at some level. When filming with 4Pro the quality is so dependent on the lights as you did show in the night scene. Thanks for the nice video. I hope all best for you.
Your video convinced me to get the Mini 4 Pro however I came across an issue you may not have experienced based on your footage. I absolutely love the waypoints feature however I discovered that when programming waypoints and you are ready to begin the path, the drone returns to Waypoint 1 of course however it travels in a straight line back to waypoint 1 and if there are any obstacles detected in its path (like a tree for example), it will not avoid them, it will simply stop and cancel the operation. Fingers crossed a firmware update will fix this.
One of the reason to watch Philip Bloom’s reviews is that they feel like you’re watching a TV show or short film. Another great review 👏🏼

23:20 Low flying is what drones are all about. I flew single engine planes at higher altitudes enough back in the day. Lower is fun.

They made most of that improvement with the M3 PRO, the 4 has refined it a little further.
