Its funny how that new rav4 prime suv does slightly better acceleration than the SS and it gets literally 94mpg. Eco suv with trailblazer ss performance, or better.
@@robarmstrong5404 But the Trailblazer SS sounds a gazillion bajillion times better, costs half as much as the Prime, has an 1/8th the insurance costs (trust me, I have extended family members with both), and the guy you replied to made his comment a good 6 months preceding the RAV4 Prime...
@@fortcrafterbossbehold9027 no one would daily drive an SS anymore though. They're unreliable gas hogs, especially now. And I'm sure you have family members with both lol. And my point was, in 2021, you can get SS performance with 90+ mpg with Toyota reliability.
@@robarmstrong5404 To be more specific, the SS is owned by a relative of mine, and the RAV4 Prime owned by an older member of our mosque (whenever our local Muslims get new cars, they usually are either an EV, a super fuel efficient car, or a Toyota Corolla. I seem to be the outlier being a Muslim with a gas guzzling base Trailblazer)... My relative dailies his TBSS (that unreliable bit is absolute BS, LS engines match Toyota as far as reliability goes), and to be honest, I would to if I could afford the $19K SS price... Plus, as far as gas mileage goes, my $2.8K TB with the 4.2L Inline 6 actually get worse gas mileage at 8 mpg vs the 14 on the TBSS's V8 since mine is so big with so few cylinders and therefore runs extremely rough around the lower RPM spread...
@@robarmstrong5404 And also, the Toyota gets SS performance at stock level but not SS glorious sound or upgradability, you sure as hell can't turbo the engine or spray methanol on the electric motors...
Catching traction is the hardest thing to do in my dually. 600 to the ground doesn’t like to hook on bald tires lol. 20-30-40 rolls are my favorite and where it thrives.
Heads up to the TBSS driver, DONT BEAT ON IT IN OVERDRIVE. "3" is direct drive that's where it should be anytime you're under 50mph or beating on it. You're killing your trans even faster by doing that.
Ryan Merriott didn’t know that, honestly I rarely beat on it this is probably the 3rd time I did WOT with it since I’ve owned it ,but from what your saying anything under 50 to use 3 ?and would that be from 0-50 keep in 3 and if over 50 should I shift it to D? And also for normal daily driving using D would be fine right lol? Thanks
Use "3" for anything under 50. It's how the trans was designed. Sorry I didn't reply sooner didn't click send. Doing that engages the overrun clutch circuit which increases line pressure and preserves the 3-4 clutch pack, increases throttle response and reduces 1/4 mile times. Keep it in "3" when at WOT and DO NOT shift into OD when at WOT. At high power levels, that will possibly GRENADE the trans or the forward sprag if done enough times. What I do is get to cruising speed (60mph ish) and then shit into OD. When I want to speed up a good amount from cruising speed I take it out of OD keeping same throttle position untill the shift is done and then speed up. Install a comprehensive shift kit from Sonnax to reduce the shift time and increase holding pressure. Also contact PCMOFNC for a mail order or custom tune if you can send them some logs. They have the most experience with these trucks PERIOD.
Ryan Merriott ok cool thanks for the information,I’m definitely going to do that for now on,I’ve been holding out on doing a tune and some bolt ons but def plan using pcmnc when I do
I'll take the tbss any day of the week. Shits bone stock doing that thing.
