  • Once again we are getting out of our comfort zone by traveling straight to Ethiopia to try some new food and experience a new culture.
We visited an authentic Ethiopian Restaurant called Abyssinia Restaurant located in Nairobi, Kenya and I have to say, we truly enjoyed the experience.
Even if we did not try kifta, a famous Ethiopian dish we made our way around everything else with a large amount of injera the traditional Ethiopian bread. We even experience something called "gursha" which is the action of feeding each-others. In the Ethiopian culture it is a show of love and respect and since we do love each others we figure that it was appropriate.
If you want to see another food and cultural experience, make sure to watch this video:

What a lovely couple having good experience of Ethiopian heavenly food! By the way, the "injera" is prepared according to the "Passover" in the old testament and we (Ethiopians) carried that divine law for more than 2000 years, in short, the procedure of making the "injera" come from divine order on how to make it, such as making the dough to be sour before baking. Homework for you both: try Kitffo and Dullet in one of the restaurants in Toronto, of course if you are near by. Cheers!

Abbyssinia is the old Latin name for Ethiopia, derived Arabic Al-habesh, the identity for the region. In Swahili and other East African languages, Ethiopia is called Habesha/ Uhabeshi, and people are Habeshi. Ethiopia is Greek name, originally used for all Africa, but stuck with Ethiopia since it was one of the oldest cultures or the old world.

First time I saw Anjera I thought it genuinely tasted like a pancake.
I mean look at the brown one,its so light and fluffy looking. It looks like a chocolate pancake. ( Thanks for the lesson though, I did not know there was even another variation to the white one, culture).
It's a bit of a curve ball though when you taste it. Not bad though.

7:46 it still tastes good if you have it well done. I don’t eat the kitfo raw or mid-rare, I like it cooked all the way through. It’s amazing when done properly. But thank you for sharing the love of the Ethiopian culture. I wish you the best journey in life full of blessings. Sending love and light ✨ :)

I love Ethiopian food - I make it at home, and I am from central Asia.
The enjara is not from flour, you should know it is from the smallest grain in the world - Tiff. It tastes like sour dough pancake.

When I went to Ethiopia, we would be served with injera with beef. You select the cut then they slice it in very thin strips then bring some mettalic pot with fire beneath it. The thin strips are put in the pot before you. Does not take long to cook then you place it in the injera. The meat was very tasty and went well with the injera. Had it for supper , breakfast and lunch. Missed it when I came back to Kenya
