  • Here is a quick overview of our 1960 Corvette body swap project. This Vette was restored by a father/son team over 30 years ago, and it was time to take its performance to a modern level.
    We body swapped the 60 onto one of our "ready for your body" Art Morrison chassis. We also performed an LS swap to a 495hp GM Performance LS3.
    Future plans include fresh paint and upholstery, but for now we focused purely on performance, handling, and reliability.

    Nice! That is exactly how I would have restored my 60 if I still had it. Right down to the TKX 5 speed. Did you keep the original rear end gears that came with the auto transmission? My car had a 3 speed manual with 3.70 rear end gears, so I would probably have kept those gears in the rear end. I think the overdrive 5th gear in the TKX would have worked out well with a 3.70 rear.

    Curious to know what product you used for undercoating the body? Looks very sharp. Picked up our Art Morrison chassis from our local shop yesterday, can’t wait to get started!

    Question .... why not put the drive shaft on to the chassis before lowering the body on it?

    • @metalworksclassicautoresto9583
      @metalworksclassicautoresto9583  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We were waiting on the drive shaft to be built, and it's easy enough to slip in after the body is on...but yes, we certainly would have installed it before setting the body on ideally. Good eye.

      495 horses of heat coming thru dual exhausts....hot...hot...hot...very hot!!! Right under the driver and passenger seats.....so heat protection wrapping....no A/C

    Are there any panel gap issues when swapping out the chassis like that? Is it wiser to do body work after chassis arrrives?

    • @metalworksclassicautoresto9583
      @metalworksclassicautoresto9583  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kinda both...we haven't had any major panel gap issues, but we always mock up and panel gap the body on the chassis.

      @@metalworksclassicautoresto9583 in the case of a clean car like that I guess you just put it on the chassis and see how it lays and make adjustments?
