This is a new one for me and I'm 67. I saw his first movie he made when he was 23 a few weeks ago and saved it, I'll save this one too. John Wayne was always my hero, a great actor and rider, he did most of his own stunts. My absolute favourite was Hatari, I've lost count how many times I've seen it, I would put it on repeat in case I fell asleep 😂
I grew up wtching john wayne westerns in a little village called Teller,Alaska in our quanset hut show house every friday and saturday ,,, if john wayne isn't in the cowboy movie it not a cowboy movie ,,, "HE IS THE DUKE " OF WESTERN MOVIES ,,, THANK YOU MR JOHN WAYNE
I remember watching this at my grandmas house 35 years ago, I love the water slide scene, it isn’t the best movie but I have such fond memories associated with it. I miss my grandparents.
One of the best western movies filmed when John Wayne as just starting. And a surprise the other main actor was gabby hayes but had not started playing the Gabby hayes role. Very enjoyable worth every minute I watched. MKL
this must be an early John Wayne film. Its so different from ones made now, perhaps a bit corny, but everyone did their best, I'm always amazed at how those horses go so fast, and never run out of energy! thanks for posting it, John wayne was a good actor, always worth watching!
I thought we had seen all the old John Wayne movies but this one is new to us. Thank you for screening it . The colourisation and added music are really well done
I’m 21 I was watching westerns with my grandpa as a little kid to this day I watch a lot mainly the tv series like gun smoke and the life and legend of Wyatt Earp it bring back memories with my grandpa
My dads Base Theater played this 1934 re-titled to "The Lucky Texan" classic, and more during the John Wayne weekend they held in 1963. Then they held Hop along Cassidy, and Roy Rogers weekends in the summer for us kids. 👍👍 10🤠
The Lucky Texan, released 1934. It has been 90 years since the movie's release, so if they saw it as a rerun or rerelease in 1948 or so, the movie would have been about 14 years old and they'd have been approx 6 years of age.
Me too .Same age , same taste. In our child hood days, cow boy films were all about the hero and the bad man. A drink and then why, what and the fistcuffd ! They fought ho Lala ! but the hats seldom fell and the whooping injuns with the plumes.God❤ ! Those were the days of days.
A young mustachioed George Hayes before he grew his scruffy full face wiskers as 'Gabby Hayes' - and became one of the greatest western character actors of all time!
Never seen The DUKE in a comedy n never seen him weight less than 190😂😂 I've never liked comedy western but, this was a treat👏🫶👍 thanks for sharing i needed to laugh❤😂❤😂
I've watched many cowboy films of John Wayne and this one is exceptional! All the scenes are exciting and wholesomely humorous. Watch it and you'll see what I mean.
This movie starring John Wayne was filmed in 1933 and hit the theaters in 1934 and titled "THE LUCKY TEXAN" and retitled when colorized of which it should not have been done. "THE LUCKY TEXAN" was a good enough title for over 70 years and should have stayed that way. The opening music was as CRAPPY as it could get BUT a very excellent job on colorization was done.
I've seen this before and decided to watch it again. I want to say I have watched many movies that have been colorized and this just might be as good as it can possibly get. When Ted Turner first started colorizing movies in the 1990s there was a huge backlash coming from the actors themselves that said stop. And at that time it really was not that good. Here is an example of how it should be done. I could give you a list of over 100 movies I would love to see colorized. Please give credit to where credit is due and let us know who colorized it and how they did it.
Well they cut the sceen to not show him parking the horse. Guess they don't need to show the stopping turning and tieing her down part. History s changing.
This is one of my favorites of the old John Wayne movies. The updated music is realy crappy . Colorizing it looks ok. The old version black and white is better. The updated music is awful. It's like trying to make an old coin better by changing it. Or adding sugar to a wonderful old wine. Dang..
Funny how at 4030 the guy says they must of taken the canteen off the donkey before they got there, when they spent 10 minuets chasing the donkey to get the canteen off of him. How did this ake it through editing? LOL.
This is NOT "Gold Strike River"!!! It is a 2006 restored and colorized "The Lucky Texan" from 1933 with a different music track. The coloring and restoration was done well, but the music soundtrack is terrible, and unnecessary; so was the decision to arbitrarily rename the picture. Some folks just can't tone down their egos when they get a piece of historic film to work on. Watching the original is tough, because all existing prints are frankly, terrible; but I'd rather watch the film the way it was historically intended with such a low budget, rather than how some modern-day hotshot thinks it should be shown........ and then have the nerve to retitle it. (Anyway, John Wayne at 26, hopping a horse from the rear, is fun to see no matter how good or bad the production)
I’am 82 years old I saw this movie this a great time in my youth life thanks for sharing this 😊

My first time watching this John Wayne movie. Watching from Jamaica 🇯🇲
Very good: John Wayne with his own hair and interesting "new technology" in the closing sequences. Great!
One of the best western movies filmed when John Wayne as just starting. And a surprise the other main actor was gabby hayes but had not started playing the Gabby hayes role. Very enjoyable worth every minute I watched. MKL

I think what used to be called a spaghetti western . Good fast put together movie production
I thought we had seen all the old John Wayne movies but this one is new to us. Thank you for screening it . The colourisation and added music are really well done

Love watching them both in movies together ❤👍👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉
Love the redone music! Makes this almost a genuine film. John Wayne was the best
My dads Base Theater played this 1934 re-titled to "The Lucky Texan" classic, and more during the John Wayne weekend they held in 1963. Then they held Hop along Cassidy, and Roy Rogers weekends in the summer for us kids.

never heard of this John Wayne movie before, thanks.
That's because that's NOT the name of the film. It is a 2006 restored and colorized "The Lucky Texan" from 1933 with a different music track
Yakima Canute.. a great journeyman actor..
... qué afortunado hubiera sido de haberlas visto en un cine en esa época ❤❤❤❤
1934 a great quality film from John and his other actors
I'm 72 and I've never seen it.I thought it was wonderful
Fantastic job of colorizing this old movie. Great improvement on the music too. Thanks!
Many ,many , many inconsistencies in this old western , but who cares? It's fantastic !
A young mustachioed George Hayes before he grew his scruffy full face wiskers as 'Gabby Hayes' - and became one of the greatest western character actors of all time!
Great old movie 👍👍
Loved this film!!!
A good movie , worthy of a modern day re-make

Great old movie. Excellent colorization.
24:05 UNBELIEVABLE how good the CGI was back then!
Never seen The DUKE in a comedy n never seen him weight less than 190😂😂 I've never liked comedy western but, this was a treat👏🫶👍 thanks for sharing i needed to laugh❤😂❤😂
The colorization is amazing, espeacially when you compare it with the black & white version. Who colorized this? Like going back in time.
I've not heard of this movie either 😕, I thought I had them all in my little collection.
LOVED THE ENDING OF THE MOVIE 🎥 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🩷🦩☺️

This flick has my favorite Gabby Hayes.
32:51..."Now listen Friday. Go get Jerry. And bring me back a pepperoni pizza."

This channel appears to be not only extremely well colorized, but well orchestrated. Most of J.W.s movies have awkward silences.😅
I've seen this before and decided to watch it again. I want to say I have watched many movies that have been colorized and this just might be as good as it can possibly get. Yeah, I was surprised how good the colorization was.
Yes with a lot of colorisation the dusty Main Street is all green . This is the best one I’ve seen
This sows you don't trust no one ever at all each person wants to take what is yours for there selves
Very good movie -- Fabulous white horse -- Big Sexy John! -- Don't miss this one🤠
This is "The Lucky Texan" (John Wayne) (1934)
Also released as, "The Lucky Texan".
Still a good flick !!!
🙏🙏🙏/Thanks
With all that ham I had a strong urge to fry up some eggs and make some toast!
No you didn't
Interesting John Wayne before John Ford days .
This is "The Lucky Texan." John Wayne didn't make a movie called, "Gold Strike River." As if the colorization and music weren't insult enough!
Well they cut the sceen to not show him parking the horse. Guess they don't need to show the stopping turning and tieing her down part. History s changing.
John waynes first two movies were foreward pass 1929 & Men without women 1930, Gold strike in 1934
This is one of my favorites of the old John Wayne movies. The updated music is realy crappy . Colorizing it looks ok. The old version black and white is better. The updated music is awful. It's like trying to make an old coin better by changing it. Or adding sugar to a wonderful old wine. Dang..
According to Wiki, Barbara Sheldon appeared in four films. This was her final one.
Funny how at 4030 the guy says they must of taken the canteen off the donkey before they got there, when they spent 10 minuets chasing the donkey to get the canteen off of him. How did this ake it through editing? LOL.
If someone is 82 years old. If they've already had their birthday this year that means they were born in 1942
Where in the world did John Wayne find jeans long enough that he had to turn the cuffs up 6 to 8 inches? See 53:04
He's v young, b4 1940?
wow gabby hayes
Whoopee, far better than to days GARBAGE???
Jake the Grandpa with the mustache and talking like an 80 year old
man is actually younger than John Wayne....
Gabby Hayes was born in 1885, John Wayne was born in 1907. According to imdb Jake was 22 years older. Tim M. 3/04 2023
This is NOT "Gold Strike River"!!! It is a 2006 restored and colorized "The Lucky Texan" from 1933 with a different music track. Whats the deal with these big tall cowboy hats ???
This is not a new movie but one colorized and renamed. To me this is a scam on people. This is
actually "The Lucky Texan" from 1934.
Oh for crying out loud stop complaining it's free.
You're a scam
No sé Inglés por eso no veo las películas en inglés no entiendo
They leave and then return empty handed. Then,,, one day there gone for goodness sake permanently !
