I think the Scram 411 is a nice looking and functional machine but after this many years of production of this design I wish RE would shed some weight, bump up the hp and increase the braking. The reliability is there and decent quality so just a few refinements would take this platform to even greater heights.
RE is still an Indian brand and they're plenty powerful for Indian roads. Giving more power with larger engines will make these bikes more expensive for the Indian market. They already give better parts to oversees customers. If they make seperate bikes for the rest of the world their brand identity will be at risk. The brand only sells about 15-20% of their bikes outside India. So they cannot shift their focus like that.
A very honest and realistic review…..in Scotland these bikes are incredibly popular and are perfect in rural area’s for extended seasonal riding . Really enjoyed your review. Just very informative and honest for a beginner like me. Thanks. I’m thinking of a scram for my first bike. I’ve say in quite a few other beginner bikes but the riding position is terrifying for me, feeling over the handlebars or kinda on top of the bike. The scram just felt right confidence inspiring and not intimidating like many of the others. I’m a bit older so I’m not concerned with speed, especially as my first bike so this looks like a good fit. Also as a firefighter so unfortunately I’ve peeled more than my fair share of dead motorcycle riders off the tarmac, which is probably why I feel so intimidated by most bikes and don’t want to much power. I must add though that most of the deaths on motorbikes AND cars for that matter are speed/wreck less driving and drink/drug driving. Also not driving to the conditions, or a combination of all! Essentially the unfortunate riders are usually young and wreck less and traveling at extreme speed. It’s the same for cars too but you have that metal box around you with airbags that increase your survivability. My god I’m rambling! Anyway I’m neither young nor wreck less and have always wanted a bike so this could be a fix. How does this compare to the Husky 401 anybody?
Hey, I'm a Kiwi ( New Zealander ) living in the states, but lived in Deutsch land back at the end of the the 80's. Euro/ English accents can be so similar, and as with yours almost has a Kiwi twang with certain words. Just waiting for spring to arrive as I recently got a 1979 Honda CM 400t. Enfield are killing it at the moment. Nice bikes and affordable enough that I wouldn't feel too bad about tasking a grinder to it. One question though, what do you mean riding season is over? That's what heated grips and gloves are for.
I remember from my childhood the temperature dropping down to -27C in winter and the roads either salty or ice in winter. Riding is definitely seasonal here.
Looks like a great bike with a very underwhelming engine. As much as a dislike parallel twins, they need to put the Interceptor 650 engine in the Scram and Himalayan. I'm not sure what the situation is in Europe, but there are a lot of people in America that want to like this bike, but can't (or won't) buy one because it feels unsafe on the highway. Most of us would have to ride highway at least a dozen miles to get somewhere to do some scramble type riding.
Gonna test ride but am leaning towards the Zontes 350 at this price point due to 40bhp and better brakes! DAS starts tomorrow. Great review! (Have an Enfield dealer ten mins from me).
What does that drink taste like? Fruity? Anything like it in UK? Lithuania looks cooler and cooler the more you show it. Low traffic and no trouble for using the forest tracks. I think I'd get very lost very often! I'd be happy but reported missing frequently 😁

That side stand turning is great but I am not doing that to my bike, I will ruin the stand after sometime and eventually messed up your side stand sensor.. Do it only on emergency case

You don't highways there like we have in america, our speed limits exceed the scram power ability, that's why Americans buy, klr650s, for back road riding, klrs can do freeway speeds easy ,up to 110 mph. Klrs are cheaper, and proven reliable for almost 30 years.
I did it. Yamaha off-road school. But I’ll tell you without any experience straight of a Harley it was like skateboarding for a first time. I think those who had at least some green laining experience enjoyed it more.

That motor really shakes a lot... No counterbalanced? Nice review, but really it looks sort of cheap with all the bolt on stuff, that weird joint in the exhaust, the overall construction. The many small fasteners on the motor also look substandard, you worry how it will hold up with the metal distortion of an air cooled... Maybe it's economical to buy, you didn't mention price... 🤔 Maybe you're not supposed to criticize the test bikes, but just the visuals were not comforting. The scram screams cheapness. PS 1 day later... Kmoto has other people doing promotion videos on the same bike within a week of yours. Certain phrases seem scripted. The price is low for sure, but... please feel free to delete my comment, it's just a heads up for you. I'm not sure of this term "green laning..." The other guy used it as a marketing term, but clarify that bikes on a grass patch is ☠️

Living downtown now, I would easily go for something electric. Maybe even something small. I suppose I'm critical of the new bikes, but compared to a Suzuki GS with the ball bearing motor, my last cheapie, they don't even look like fun toys. Cheers 🍻

It had only 40K km, was fast as hell for a tourer... Like ¼ mile in 12's and some go to 250K km. It is a classic, but always very affordable, safe (looks like a cop bike) and reliable beyond belief. The other perk, you can pick up pro drag racing parts from the 80's for little. I e joy good marketing, but as I said these reviewers are reading a script, especially on this bike. Very difficult to take them seriously. Good luck if you are shopping.
@@andykerr3803 yes my friend but too many second hand bikes are money pits I've been riding bikes 47 years from Honda express to Harleys, and to get a new bike with a three year warranty for €4600 is a steal. Then people come up with the cheap parts argument not realising just how much stuff on their Japanese made cough cough, German made cough cough bikes come from or are assembled in third or 2nd world countries lol, what is the speed limit in most European (in my case) countries, its top 120kph and other roads 90kph so why would you need a bike that does stupid speeds unless a person has mental problems and wants to visit the hospital as a doner 🤷♂️

It's gorgeous. It's called Kvas, or квас. It's a Russian drink, like non alcoholic beer.

NorLy was riding an Himalayan, not a scram. It is the same engine it seems but not the same bike.

Just launched in my country, going to test ride it but I'm definitely not crazy about ABS and offroading, it actually makes it difficult.
Think you can turn it off on the Himalayan so that would probably be a better option for more off road
If you're doing a lot of dirt riding, you can pull the ABS fuse for the back wheel. It's actually a seperate fuse.

The Hunter has a J series 350cc engine with 20.2 bhp, 177 kg dry weight. No plans by RE to put 411 engine on the Hunter.

If you want to do some proper offroading, I can't recommend Offroad Skills in Wales highly enough.

At 24.3 HP and a top speed worse than Himalayan. I'll hold onto my pennies a bit longer, yet.
yeah 24hp is nothing, basically gutless, my ninja 250 i started on was 36hp and that I got used to after a couple weeks

Maybe it's economical to buy, you didn't mention price... 🤔 Maybe you're not supposed to criticize the test bikes, but just the visuals were not comforting. The scram screams cheapness.
PS 1 day later... Kmoto has other people doing promotion videos on the same bike within a week of yours. Certain phrases seem scripted. The price is low for sure, but... please feel free to delete my comment, it's just a heads up for you. I'm not sure of this term "green laning..." The other guy used it as a marketing term, but clarify that bikes on a grass patch is ☠️

@@SCALE_SLOTCARS_AND_RC Nothing now. My favorite was a Yamaha XS 1100 with California sidecar that popped off easy. As a kid I put together good bikes that I bought in cardboard boxes 📦 😄... Living downtown now, I would easily go for something electric. Maybe even something small. I suppose I'm critical of the new bikes, but compared to a Suzuki GS with the ball bearing motor, my last cheapie, they don't even look like fun toys.

@@SCALE_SLOTCARS_AND_RC Oops, I missed the comment. Buy a used, proven bike with a guarantee. Even that GS 1100 I mentioned was only $600 Canadian, honest. It had only 40K km, was fast as hell for a tourer... Like ¼ mile in 12's and some go to 250K km.
It is a classic, but always very affordable, safe (looks like a cop bike) and reliable beyond belief. The other perk, you can pick up pro drag racing parts from the 80's for little. I e joy good marketing, but as I said these reviewers are reading a script, especially on this bike. Very difficult to take them seriously. Good luck if you are shopping.
@@andykerr3803 yes my friend but too many second hand bikes are money pits I've been riding bikes 47 years from Honda express to Harleys, and to get a new bike with a three year warranty for €4600 is a steal. Then people come up with the cheap parts argument not realising just how much stuff on their Japanese made cough cough, German made cough cough bikes come from or are assembled in third or 2nd world countries lol, what is the speed limit in most European (in my case) countries, its top 120kph and other roads 90kph so why would you need a bike that does stupid speeds unless a person has mental problems and wants to visit the hospital as a doner 🤷♂️
