Great idea. I'd like to try it but unfortunately most of the house wiring we have here in Australia is multi stranded, not solid wire like you have in the US.
I might try some heavy gauge 3 phase stranded wire, it is stranded but much thicker strands so might work ok, even if I just use a few strands twisted together to make coils👍

"like-eaat", or "like-iss"...sounds like everyone I grew up with who skips the "th" when saying "like this" or "like that", lol! Good tip though, I'm going to harvest a length of copper wire that's laying around in the woods and try-iss! ;-)

Great share! Though answer to those thinking bare copper could scratch a steel wrench--NO! The copper is softer than the steel, and thus cannot scratch it. But leaving the insulation on can be good for adding color coding and is quieter in the drawer vs bare Cu wire....
