Unless the instructions are literally saying “ righty tighty lefty loosey” I think the reason it’s telling you which way to turn it is because it’s kinda like a crescent wrench. There’s actually a certain side you apply pressure to, hence the reason for telling you which way to use the wrench to loosen or tighten something.

I'm really glad I watched until the end. I laughed when you didn't follow the wrench instructions and ended up marring the stuff or having a hard time fitting the pieces as far back as they needed in the wrench. Personally though, no matter what tool I'm using I always make sure everything is 100% hand tightened to avoid simple problems with tools. This reminded me of my Grandpas purchase of a 'As Seen on TV' purchase of a Robo-grip wrench that I've destroyed so many things with, yet it's my number 1 demo tool I still keep to this day, maybe one of my closest memories from him even. Thanks for that.

One thing i learned with these all in one products is that yes most of them do work in most situations if you're in a pinch and need to grab a tool quick without having to dig through your toolbox, but they will never replace your regular tools entirely, especially in high torque or rust situations

Torque: Torque is a measure of applied work. You can produce a great deal of torque with a smaller lever, provided the lever doesn't slip. The primary problem with traditional wrenches is simply that they slip and flex. Now, regardless of the wrench, one that maintains grip on the object being turned will mean more of the applied force is directed into the action of moving the said object.
So let's say you have a traditional wrench, which has a slippage of 20%, this means your applied force at point of interaction with a nut or bolt is only 80% of the force applied by you at the leverage point. If you apply 100 nm of force, then only 80 nm of force is applied. Now take another wrench that only has 2% slippage, then 98 nm of force of the 100 nm of force you've applied will be translated into the object being turned.
So let's look at the leverage advantage here as well.
The traditional 1.5 inch wrench held at 00:03:29 is 24 inches long. F=w/l (force=total load/length from fulcrum, where the nut is the fulcrum). If it takes 50 foot-lb to move the nut, at 24 inches, it'd take 2.08 foot-lb of force if that pressure is applied at the end of the wrench furthest from the nut. Given the other wrench is about half the length of the traditional one, at 12 inches, it should take 4 lbs of force to move the nut.
However, the larger the wrench the greater the slippage on traditional wrenches, due to the lack of friction on sheer metal on metal (I won't do the math here, it deals with co-efficient of friction of metal on metal). A short hand means of thinking here is as follows; Starting at 1/8 inch, for every 1/16th of an inch in size, a wrench gains 1% of slippage. So at 1.5 inches it'd have 22% slippage, or an efficiency loss of 22%, so at 50 ft-lb of torque to move a nut, it'd take 2.44 ft-lb for the traditional wrench. Based on the design of the other wrench, I suspect that it doesn't have nearly as much slippage, given it has multiple grip points designed to grab the hard edge of a nut or bolt. Since its slippage is likely negligible, 4 lbs of force vs 2.44 lbs of force is only 1.66 lbs of force in difference, for a tool that likely is half the weight, half the length, and is more maneuverable.

Everything that thing does I can do with a good pipe wrench. Since they are adjustable

The metal sandwich construction of this kind of tool makes it quite durable. But as you found out it pretty much means if you apply too much force it can tear up most fittings and bolt heads. So its prolly better suited for used on hardened bolts and fittings that can stand up to the abuse it puts out. Again another great emergency use tool
