I believe the fact that Flick will not make major changes to the barca squad is the biggest problem, because he is likely to run into the same issues Xavi faced. the team is not well built out. We dont have an elite leftfooted defender while we have 4 great right footed defenders. we have great interior midfielders but no pivot and one who is neither a pivot nor an interior. we have a lot of great inverting second striker type wingers but no great fullbacks to keep the with open. We have one great stiker who is to old to press and a couple of too young strikers with legs but not ready for the first team. these things just do not go away by getting a new manager whos maine diffirentiater will be to make a squad of non phisycal, injury prone players, physical beasts by sending them to the gym over the summer.

Even though I understand your point I don't believe we need a LFCB because Man United had two RFCB Vidic and Ferdinand Barca have Pique and Puyol.

      Madrid is all about individuality
      It's different in Barcelona
That's why Ancelotti has been sacked in other team but succeed in Madrid and Milan because those teams have/had great individualities

It just goes on to show that these kinds of managers can’t flourish without certain types of players….. as a manger, you have to be very flexible and create a structure that would bring out the best in your players which flick failed to do at Germany

The circumstances of Bayern are also very different to barca. Ppl like to say “well we shouldn’t judge him on Germany’s job because it’s different” same applies with Bayern. During his ucl winning winning campaign he played 2 teams from epl,2 from la liga and 1from the Italian side and he clearly outclassed them all
All he will need is the right profiles to fit his system and philosophy

@@jedidiabonnah8621 like I said only time will prove me right cause arguing about a hypothetical whether he will be successful or not is kinda a waste of time tbh but again Bayern is different to Barcelona plus the obvious circumstances at the time “covid, no fans in matches, other clubs not being as financially or mentally or physically prepared as Bayern during the pandemic… etc” no one is discrediting him winning trophies but the world is a whole different place than it was since 2020

The is different between coaching a club and a national team. Coaching is easy because a coach see all players everyday and he has time to train them about his tactics while as a national team coach, he sees players after long time and have little time to train them about his tactics. By the way, national team squad is made up of different players from different teams who are used to different style of playing.

Coaching a national team is much harder as you hardly have time to get a team to play as a unit and adapt to your strategies . An international manager has a couple of days to get a team to play while at a club you have 2 months

I’d give Flick the benefit of the doubt simply because of how drastically different coaching a club is from coaching a national team. I’ll base my faith in him on his time at bayern, his time at germany as 2nd in command from 2008-2014 and his mentality. I’m sure he will do well at barca.

Some of these coaches style of play cannot be taught in just few days
You get the chance to train your team in just 2weeks prior every tournament
And is not easy for the team to adapt to your concepts
We have seen it with numerous coaches on the club side
You can be a great coach on the club side and a total flop on the national side

I don’t think that having less quality in the team should be an excuse
Many coaches in the national team have and are having low quality in the team but they are doing wonders
Ralf ragnick is a good example
In a short time, he has made austria become a threat and they play very good football
The main reason why flick failed at Bayern was what you gave as a second reason
He wanted to recreate the same system and structure at Germany forgetting that the players, profiles of the players were very different and he could hardly adapt to the strengths of the players
I’m worried about flick at barca considering how different the players are in terms of profiles and ages, I just hope that he would create a good system that would maximize the strength of the players and not rather look to recreate the same thing at Bayern
Also, the personnels of barca will be a big issues as most aren’t of high level to be at barca but it still seems like we would keep them
Xavi struggled this season because of personnels, he had great tactics but the poor execution of the players led him to fail but he still did a great work at barça

There's nothing wrong with playing possession football, it's a matter of whether a coach like possession football that play direct or indirect attacking football or possession football of short or long passes. Xavi like indirect attack possession football with short or triangle passes which is old school. Hansi on the other hand prefer possession football of direct attacking football and long passes.
