I got HD 2000.1 for my door speakers. Amazing power, but difficult to tune due to not so great controls.
I honestly expected more efficiency. Another great video Jeff.
@@SoberBassHead thanks man, I am kinda the opposite. I was surprised it was this much lol. I can stress how cheap feeling this amp was. I felt that $99 really is about what it was worth. It’s like they searched the entire earth for the cheapest parts they could find to build this thing. lol! Thanks for watching
Yeah, they look cheap. Yeah, they feel like there's nothing inside the case, but they do perform and don't sound bad doing it. The reason these get a bad rap, is misuse. HD series IS NOT FOR SUBWOOFER USE. For subs, BIGBOSS, MD, BASS or SMARTBASS series are the choices. I run half-bridge amps in my ride, but wanted to put that out there in fairness to Taramps and full-bridge circuit amplifiers.
I agree. I’m kinda new to the car audio stuff but heard taramps are really bad and caught on fire fast but I think it’s people saying that about them due to like you said misusing them and overpowering them

The new one is an updated Taramps smart 3k bass it’s called Big boss 3. The new line of the big boss taramps do come with a bass knob that can be used on the HD version.Thats sold separate unfortunately , Big D Wiz has done a amp dyno on the big boss 3 and HD taramps 3k but a 2 Ohm version . Big thing with taramps 3 k and up is that you need updated electrical to run them . Great video though ! Got a subscriber here I’m definitely looking into the Big Boss 3 for my daily. Thank you my bad 😅 didn’t know that , probably a updated version of the original HD 3k like the big boss is to the Smart Bass 3k 🤔 but as Parker the bass head says keep bassing on 😀

I was curious how folks felt about Taramps and how they perform. I just got back into building a box and my immediate thought was the graphics make it look suspect. You do have very nice fingernails btw.
@@dram4king yeah I try to keep them up 🤣 I like Taramps over all they are cheap and do what they say wouldn’t be a bad idea to run some sort of DSP or if your head unit has one you could use that. The big boss line looks good. Hopefully I’ll get one to look at soon 🤞
@@BassDad Ok, thank you for the reply! I may try Taramps for some mids/highs component speakers. I am thinking about bringing my old Punch 150 out of retirement for the bass, mostly for nostalgia when they were bumping my 2x RF 15s and watching Top Gun and other cool movies on my car tv. But I also like the idea of checking out a cheap amp on some component speakers and maybe experiment with them in comparison to the Punch amp on bass.
I love how you show the SMD meters btw. It's the kind of stuff I geek out on and makes the assessment fair and scientific.

You saw my setup so “if I have that that much juice” isn’t really anything that can be questioned. I definitely have the power.
“Drop so low?” I am assuming you are talking about the 12.xxx? That’s a lot not so low. That LF audio volt meter has a 330 sample per second refresh rate while most multimeters are like 10 per second if that most likely lower. So the answer is it was only at 12.xxx for a second and if I were using anything else to keep up with my voltage you would have never seen it move.
If it's full range Mono amp you could use 2 of them one for left channel and one for right channel. 😊

Woot is refurbished products, taramps are hated because of inconsistent out put levels, i have an og 3k and it puts out 3800 rms 1ohm

Haven't watched yet. But hate.. it's a full bridge. Needs less caps.. less caps leads to running the amp under powered faster.. full bridge needs current/power on demand. Or smoke.
Half bridge. Can take the abuse.. way different board.

Full bridge amps components are already pushed to their brink that any mishap and it’s over..

@@BassDad if u look up the specs on the fets or components,what they are rated for vs what the amp is doing they are maxed out ..half bridge most of time have more than enough components to do what’s asked of it without maxing out the components…

@@BassDad I’m sure but straight up it’s what you like..personally I don’t like full bridge but I didn’t like half bridge when they we’re getting popular either…I’m old school ab guy but slowly came to the dark side..lol and I enjoy talking to other fellow audio enthusiasts…nothing meant by what I’ve said it’s just my personal findings and study…. All of my stuff is 20 yr old or better..lol
@@scottmiller3025 oh I didn’t take it that way man I’ll just be honest idk if what you said is true really that’s all. I think what you are saying is probably more a characteristic of cheap amps and not full bridge amps. 2 half bridge amps strapped are basically a full bridge. Plus JL audio makes full bridge amps, kicker too I believe and almost all modern day 4 channel amps are full bridge. I never thought you were being rude though. :)
