This is one of the first videos I ever made. I tried to spruce it up but you can tell I hadn't learned how to expose images or edit correctly yet. I still had a blast making this video. Shout out to Bass Mom for the help!

I've run 3 PB amps for 7 years. I've beat the hell out of them and never had an issue. They run a bit warm, but a couple of fans and they are all good.
I have the Double Rock 150.4 amp and it's a strong amp. I love it and I got it on sale. Solid brand with value.

Power akoustik has always massively overrated their amps. 2500 max probably real world 700 rms

I don't know why people hate powerbass. I have 1 for 15 years and it never over heated or stop working. As long as you keep amps from over work pass their limits then they will perform. My powerbass lasted longer than my Orion xtr2500.1 and that only lasted 10 months.
Nice review, everyone has a budget! Why not consider all of the options, I wonder what service looks like and the warranty.
Suggestion: Try getting a Conductor ($179 a Sparked Innovations) or Wattmeter ($89 - basshead garage) to measure current you can measure your whole bench with the conductor or just isolate it to measure that amp in question. Also gives you a space for ground distribution. The wattmeter with BHG is Hall effect. I am assuming you are already tracking either of these. I have both but in the beginnings of using them.

I have a pair of Powerbass OE 6.5 components. They were worth every penny and sound just as good as a pair of Rockford Fosgate punch series. Also used to have a PB ASA 600.4. It was a great amp and was like 6 years old and still sounded brand new.

This company has been making high end subs and components for a very long time. The 3XL components are still the best sounding components I have ever heard.

A budget amplifier that's pretty good around the same wattage is a soundstream 6,000.1 tarantula edition... 2000 watts for less than $200..🎉

Gonna be real with you. You need to quit trying to be another Oldschoolstereo, Williston Audio Lab or SMD dyno channel with your SMD portable tools. Find something else to do. The videos aren’t good.

@@BassDad Saw the review on the 3K from Old school Stereo and it did pretty well. Just have to consider the dimensions or else I will have to redo the shadow template in my Trunk.

Idk what their full bridges are but they look sorta generic? I maybe wrong they are kinda hard to see though

@@BassDad I was gifted one and I installed it on my show car and ran it at 1ohm powering 3 10's and under nominal stress it kept on shutting down. I was using an older Hifonics BRZ and never had issues with it in 5 years, removed the PB and it's currently collecting dust. Ran the BRZ again and it still performing without issue. Running 300 amp alternator, Optima Yellow top, Stinger Cap with 0 gauge power / ground wire.

I had an old powerbass 4k from 2008, it was great amp. I let my friend borrow it last year, and he blew it. He gave me a surge 4k to replace it.

I have an orignal power bass 4k with the single power ground inputs. Still works. I used it to push my powerbase xs12d4 that was built in 2003

around 20 years ago I had a friend who built a MK3 VW Jetta akin to the one on Fast & Furious, wingswest bodykit, etc. He got sponsored by PowerBass for DB Drags and liked fishing. I remember one time we were down at the dam park fishing below the dam and this guy came up to us and asked if either of us were Pro fishermen because the car said powerbass all over it 🤣🤣🤣 it was decent gear back in the day but I can't take 'em seriously just because I can't unhear that dude calling it power🐟bass

Powerbass used to be a good well priced company. Now they are not as good as they were and they cost more! They made a name for themselves and it went to thier head.

It is an AB. We old schoolers like them. The perception is that AB has a better sound than the class D smaller equivalent.
I am aware and I like them too but fact are facts they are sold like they used to be and the deal about better sound quality was really more towards the first class d amplifiers. Modern class d amplifiers sound great .
There's only a few amps who numbers are rms ratings. Find out the fusing and you'll know what woofers to pair with it. If it does 500, two 250 rms woofers. If you want to do more buy a better amp

That's the old Razer 2500 the new ones got 2-50 amp fuses on them and 1 ohm stable.

@@JasonWW2000 no I switched the main channel to a different kind of content. Rebuilding the car audio channel here. The algorithm likes it when you drop videos every week or on some kind of schedule instead of just duping a bunch on here. I retrospect I probably wouldn’t have done it this way but this is how it worked out. I anticipate about 6 months to rebuild. The other channel is me though. I changed it to hiphop. Like deep dives on golden saga artists and interviews and what not. I hope you will check it out too
I was using my BHG watt meter and I measured 355 watts at 4.3 ohm on music. So my dynamic power number is almost exactly the same as yours. This was in a vehicle, so I don't know what the voltage was or the distortion level. It's just interesting.
Side note, the tonal characteristics of this amp are really mellow and soft. Smooth bass. It's not the punchy, dynamic sounding bass that you get from some amps (like Rockford).
Please do tests at 13.4v tests, most people buying budget amps use stock Electrical. Thank you for considering.
@@michaelmackey3748 this is an older video of mine. My testing setup has changed quite a bit since then. The reason most bench tests aren’t done at 13.4 is because of lithium. The kind of lithium that most test benches use just can’t go that low. Mine is no exception. In fact now it’s even higher because I am using a Toshiba Scib bank. I do try to test amplifiers based on the manufacturers rating though. Almost all amps are rated at 14.4 volts.
@BassDadAudioReviews- This guy online, was bragging about having (4)- 12" Power Acoustik Gothic woofers, in pre-fab, ported enclosures. Powered by i think 4, Power Acoustik RZR1-2500.1D's, prob. On stock alt.!? Thought he was feeding the subs 10k😂. He claimed it is the worlds loudest wal-mart system= hitting 166Db👀, in a No-wall setup, with all stock interior🤦😁😆😂🤣.
Sounds like maybe 2k all together lol. I stay away from power Acoustik. I posted this on my other channel and I actually had people cursing me because they believed this amp was 2500 watts lol (this is Bassdad just on my other profile)
@@RealPivotTV - I always say you can't make power, without pulling power= amperage. The total fuse ratings, & the $ the amp has/cost, should be there answer to the actual power. I keep a Clamp meter (capable of 1200 Amps max), with me. I put this over there amplifiers power inputs, & show them there amperage draw, & 90% are amazed @ how little its pulling. Especially on an over rated amp like this, + after impedance rise= "2500 watt rated", pulling only 30 amps max., on music!
@@evilinside5984 yeah you don’t need a amm-1 to know that amp ain’t doing much. Blade style fuses should tell you right off the bat that it’s not 2500. Which on this amp is funny cause it’s not rated at 2500z it’s rated at 600 which is actually right. It’s the model number though RZR 2500 and you can’t tell me that’s not on purpose?
