@@Jason_Voorhees. so last night I went through the specs on the amp, and I saw it needed a minimum of 9vdc and a maximum of 17 Vdc. Then I read that a car with stock alternator and battery produces around 13volts. So I came to the conclusion that it would work fine just not at maximum capability. I’m only running 2 10”s with 1000 rms each. I will still do the big three upgrade and a more potent battery on my truck. I will also install a voltmeter to keep an eye on it all. For the time being I don’t want to spend more money on the truck. The truck is a 1988 gmc sierra, that I just bought some months ago in Mexico. I live in USA so only will use the truck about a month out of the year, so that’s why I’m hesitant to put expensive batteries, they will probably die out from just sitting around. I am installing everything new on that truck, everything from wiring to all new speakers, amps, stereos, etc. I will do the installation my self, as of now I think my audio expenses is at 1500 dollars, so maybe adding another battery and alternator won’t be much more. Just bought one of these after watching. Had a D1000 MTX from 20+ years ago that cost almost double of this and probably about half the power. This is just as clean as my pioneer 9701 was but added 6 dbs on the same subs. Need to work on my electrical and this will push my car to 150+ db. The extra battery and stock alternator isn’t enough.

Happy to see Taramps finally separating input and output terminals, as they were known to put the switch remote in between the speaker outputs. I blew my MD8000 by accident because of that horrendous design choice. It also ended up frying a pretty expensive head-unit as well.
Couldn't wait to see this video. Had to buy one when I saw the numbers Parker was pulling. I wanted to see what it would put down on the dyno. Didn't disappoint! I think it sounds great too! Wish I had the funds to buy another 😅
At 8:31 in, there is a small pot difference as well, if you look at the Smart 3, the one is near the speaker output, but on the Boss 3 it is near the power supply. An a small but noticeable diff, the toroidals have pads on the Boss 3, but not on the Smart 3. An there seems to be a small controller chip between the 2 on the smart 3 vs boss 3 in the middle of the 2.
I bought the $220.00 harmony audio 1500.1 based off what I saw on the dyno and it is tearing my car apart, 1 year and it is still kicking. I wired it to .5 ohm, 4000+ watts easy on a test tone. I would recommend this amp or a taramps if your on a budget but you need good electrical and good subs. If this amp quits I will prolly get a MD8k.
Whats good My Guy.. How did your set up handle the amp? looking into getting this amp. I have a skar EVL-1X12D2 | Single 12" 2,500 Watt Loaded Vented Sub box.. Would be cool if you can post a video. A tip for you If you're interested use Handbrake program (free) to compress your video for super fast upload.
@nikkodogz Awesome amp, power hungry It clips due to not having enough power to push it but keeping the gain down fixes issue until I can get a high output alternator. I would definitely recommend this amp.
Man, I remember my very first stereo system, had 2 jbl subs and a pioneer 666 I got from Walmart. The stereo place that installed it told me if I wanted good power it was a $1 per watt. I paid nearly 250 for that amp at the time. I though I was the shit. It did bump though... had it for 3 years until I joined the Navy and sold it!
Great video Big D! Man, this thing is a beast. I saved up and bought my rf p1000-1bd nearly 15 years ago. It's still great. I've never considered replacing it until now. I've been asked to sell it multiple times and see they still fetch good money on eBay in used condition. I will wait to see how these Big Boss series hold up and decide if maybe it's time to replace my RF. 1700w at 4ohm is crazy power for that size. Running a couple L7S together in series for 4ohm - with the comfy 80% efficiency, sheesh. Leaves a lot of options for future upgrades and changes too
Better keep that thing cool... 78% efficient at ~4000 watts speaker power delivery means you've got a miniature space heater casting off ~1000w of heat! 🔥 Duly impressed at how much that little guy could push out, but very curious how long it would last under sustained load. Guessing they're targeting the SPL competitions more than the mobile raves?
I too would like to see some serious feedback about hours of useage and the sound output when no music is playing. I’ve been seeing too many amps with high idling noise. Some call it I think line noise ? But basically it’s just a static constant nose that can be heard that is undesirable and I don’t care how much power it makes then it’s worthless to me. I’ve been using the stinger mt2000 for a few weeks and have until jan to return lol so if something I see comes up along the way in equal price that can match the output and sound im open to suggestions
i would like to get back to Spl ,but in 500 to 1000rms class ,what size amp think I need for 2x 250 watt rms svc subs, never seen these amps before think 400x1 or go abit more 800x1?
For the amount of times you actually move those pots I don't think them being plastic really matters. Plus if people know that going in they will likely be more careful with it.
Do you think that if you’re only going to run this amp at 1ohm (non competition) that you would need an extra battery or would it be fine to use stock electrical if your vehicle is putting out 14.9 amps stock?
Thats a lot of power for such a small amp. Could you do a video on a excursion hxa amp? Maybe a hxa5k? Lookin to buy one, want to know if its any goooood
What is it with companies running 1 subwoofer RCA input on car amps. 1 RCA for a sub is a house thing. When my head unit or DSP or EQ all have 2 RCA outs then my volume level on my sub would be cut in half if I removed 1 RCA from it. It would be the same as 1 coil using power versus both coils being hooked up...
A proper sound quality test would be done on low to moderate power in a sealed or regular ported box tuned about 35-40hz.... A bandpass enclosure filters the sound it's mostly all wind 🌬️.... I want to hear how the full bridge amps translates the transients ....I have an early Modelo Taramps 50k an I dont care for the sound it produced.... Im a music producer who sits in front of nice monitors and converters so I'm a little judgemental
What is the difference between the smart 3K? The base 3K and the Bigg Boss 3K. I imagine when they come out with the 5 and the 8. It would be the same differences, but what are the differences?
Big D.... love the videos and the tech brother... question. Could you simulate real world results example wire length, size of conductors effect output. Just an example
@scottbe1 I did, and it blew a 200a fuse... voltage drops low. It is still able to play loud, just not full tilt all the time. I'm going to get a lithium bank.
Yes. He mentioned it as "you'll have to use a Y adapter if coming from a headunit". I've seen some other amps come with that adapter, maybe in the future or higher end versions like Boss 8, they will or can include them. Not hard to find but it is nice when everything you need comes in the box. Amazing amp
This model is very confusing. It doesn't say Smart on it, so i thought it was the regular style amp. It should say on this amp, Big Boss Bass Smart 3k. Great power, and cool lights. Best feature is 1/2 ohm to 2 ohm power, so if wired @ 1/2 ohm and you get 4x impedance rise while playing music, you will still get 3k plus, as long as you have the electrical= Awesome!

I just ordered this amp for 2 Skar 10,s the svr D4, I have a feeling it's going to blow my subs.
@BrettStevens4321 thinking about getting one
This channel is awesome, I'm infatuated with it.
I can not believe where the power is coming from 🙈 0.5 Ohm with that tiny thing and over 5k. UNBELIEVABLE 😮
High volt supply. And tiroid materyal hihy freqance 100 kHz. Very very good result.thanks.
Awesome Bid D. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours
just bought one of these, so glad to see this video as was not sure if will put out recommended power
Parker the Basshead is the Brock Purdy of the bass game.
Plus is that it counters Box Rise.
Big D hath dropeth the Big Vid
Man, I remember my very first stereo system, had 2 jbl subs and a pioneer 666 I got from Walmart. The stereo place that installed it told me if I wanted good power it was a $1 per watt. I paid nearly 250 for that amp at the time. I though I was the shit. It did bump though... had it for 3 years until I joined the Navy and sold it!
Love you guys are working together to bring us the best information about these amps and subwoofers so we can make good informed decisions. 👍
The color changing LEDs reminds me of MTX Thunder amps from 20 years ago. Good times
my taramps bass 3k maybe 2 years old now but still hits hard as usual. only replace the fan because it makes a strange noise
Can you recommend an amp with similar price and RMS as this Taramps big boss 3 bass 3000 with a bass remote? Thanks
They do sell a Taramps bass knob on Amazon for the Big Boss amps
Does rca in and out matter? Or is it better to have L and R rca or just a in? Still learning the difference.
What a banger! I wonder how long this thing would last in a boat
Holy cow! Taramps for the win! 💪
Is it safe to run a 2 into 1, "Y" adapter? Does that short out the pre amp signal being stuck together?
Hey Stevie, I am surprised that you have dyno tested the new SONy ES series... just Love watching the dyno test
That's impressive for the money. Serious power on the cheap cheap.
Does it have a clip light Indicator?
Great video Big D!
Man, this thing is a beast. I saved up and bought my rf p1000-1bd nearly 15 years ago. It's still great. I've never considered replacing it until now. I've been asked to sell it multiple times and see they still fetch good money on eBay in used condition. I will wait to see how these Big Boss series hold up and decide if maybe it's time to replace my RF. 1700w at 4ohm is crazy power for that size. Running a couple L7S together in series for 4ohm - with the comfy 80% efficiency, sheesh. Leaves a lot of options for future upgrades and changes too
Hi mr. Williston audio labs wat would you suggest jp13 monoblock or kicker 1800.1. Thank you 😊
Better keep that thing cool...
@@onesikm3 I wish he did some more measurements like noise and distortion especially with a scope.
Great review, thanks for sharing with us🇧🇷🇺🇸🇪🇸🔉🔊
Hey Big D, what 3K amp is better Taramps big boss 3k or Stetsom bravo 3k?
YOU AIN'T GONNA SEE THAT, IT'S GONNA BE IN THE TRUNK. I DIDN'T BELIEVE IN SHOWING OFF MY GOODS
That is some crazy power for 279 dollars...
Allright, why is the power switch upside down on the smd dyno?
I just got the big boss 3 amp and I have 2 1500w rms skar subs for the extra battery what size will I need
have to tried getting current readings from a shunt ?
i would like to get back to Spl ,but in 500 to 1000rms class ,what size amp think I need for 2x 250 watt rms svc subs, never seen these amps before think 400x1 or go abit more 800x1?
Hey, big D, are you gonna test a Trinity amp? I'm considering getting the 3k or 5k amp for 2 Trinity 10's when they are back in stock.
For the amount of times you actually move those pots I don't think them being plastic really matters. Plus if people know that going in they will likely be more careful with it.
Would love to see a trinity audio 8k dyno
I just bought the smart 3k Bass. Wish I would’ve waited now, though I’m just fine where I’m at.
Loved my smart 3 beast of an amp zvx18 2 d3400 340 alt 😊
Love your videos Big D!
Does this amp do well on the lows?
We need a big boss 8k test too 💪
That’s legit
Couple months ago I sold my soundigital 5k. I been looking for a cheap replacement
Do you think that if you’re only going to run this amp at 1ohm (non competition) that you would need an extra battery or would it be fine to use stock electrical if your vehicle is putting out 14.9 amps stock?
Bad idea at least need big 3 and extra battery
Thats a lot of power for such a small amp. Could you do a video on a excursion hxa amp? Maybe a hxa5k? Lookin to buy one, want to know if its any goooood
Is the the same as the Smart Bass 3
Can you test at 12.5-7 and 13.6 volts? For realism sake?
What is it with companies running 1 subwoofer RCA input on car amps. 1 RCA for a sub is a house thing. When my head unit or DSP or EQ all have 2 RCA outs then my volume level on my sub would be cut in half if I removed 1 RCA from it. It would be the same as 1 coil using power versus both coils being hooked up...
Have you tried out an esoteric amp?
I have two sundown audio sa 12s would this be a sufficient amp for me??
Insane for that size.
One thing to note is in that video from barevids he also used a dsp.
Maybe I'm blind but why haven't I seen you do any powerbass amps on the dyno?
A proper sound quality test would be done on low to moderate power in a sealed or regular ported box tuned about 35-40hz.... A bandpass enclosure filters the sound it's mostly all wind 🌬️.... I want to hear how the full bridge amps translates the transients
....I have an early Modelo Taramps 50k an I dont care for the sound it produced.... Im a music producer who sits in front of nice monitors and converters so I'm a little judgemental
What is the difference between the smart 3K? The base 3K and the Bigg Boss 3K. I imagine when they come out with the 5 and the 8. It would be the same differences, but what are the differences?
Did you figure it out
@@maplesgamer378
No
Big D.... love the videos and the tech brother... question. Could you simulate real world results example wire length, size of conductors effect output. Just an example
I wouldn't say that all watts are created equal though. Sorry, I just love my old school stuff.
Do you think it is after to run this amp on stock electrical? The stok battery is in the trunk. I would be running it at 0.5ohm...
Bad idea. If you want to buy multiple go for it.
@scottbe1 I did, and it blew a 200a fuse... voltage drops low. It is still able to play loud, just not full tilt all the time. I'm going to get a lithium bank.
@@SkittlesScottit wont help a lot! A upgraded alternator would be much better!and cheaper!
@@Achimbeniamin unfortunately I can upgrade the alternator on this vehicle
@@Achimbeniamin it's a hybrid 2012 sonata.
I’ve got the reg bass 8k and if the boss 8k provides like this one does. I may be swapping.
Did Taramps send it to you?
Ive been waiting for you to do his one.
One question, the one rca for input, do you just use a splitter for left and right for the input?
Yes. He mentioned it as "you'll have to use a Y adapter if coming from a headunit". I've seen some other amps come with that adapter, maybe in the future or higher end versions like Boss 8, they will or can include them. Not hard to find but it is nice when everything you need comes in the box. Amazing amp
take a zero off the price and a zero off the watts, and im all over this! 300 watts for $30!!!! is what i need!
Exactly I amplifier I need info on. thinking of using this amp for a 15" nemesis 2500 rms D1
Those amps have evolved a lot. 20 years ago, you'll get a 2x50W+1x100W amp used for the same money, and they were a lot bigger. D-class, aww yeah.
Taramps just keeps em comming
This model is very confusing. It doesn't say Smart on it, so i thought it was the regular style amp. It should say on this amp, Big Boss Bass Smart 3k. Great power, and cool lights. Best feature is 1/2 ohm to 2 ohm power, so if wired @ 1/2 ohm and you get 4x impedance rise while playing music, you will still get 3k plus, as long as you have the electrical= Awesome!
Wish Amazon had the 8k version
I recently bought the smart 8 then saw the big boss model, wish I have of waited now, bummer haha
Big BOSS= Big D ! another Great 1
Taramps has the best amplifiers hands down
Didnt a 3000 watt orion model do 10k plus on your channel in the past
