Both seal n shine and ceramic coating were fully cured for over 48 hours, with the exception of the far right side of the panel where stated instant sure.
Will you be picking up the new hybrid solutions ceramic spray coating?

Hey Jimbo, on my car parked outside in the elements, it feels like seal and shine breaks up after only a couple of weeks. Has this been your experience? I'm not sure if it's the UV's....I'd be very interested in seeing a test after 2 weeks of both products under the sun.

I am glad I didn't pull the trigger yet via amazon on this hybrid line....so far it definitely has not lived up to the hype. waiting for brian(apex detail's review) he can measure gloss enhancement. Turtle Wax said that Ceramic Spray Coating sees it's best durability when you apply 2 coats, 24 hours apart, with another 24 hours of cure (no soap) after that. I would like to see that tested against Seal N shine, with Both being given the 24 hour re-coat and another 24 hour cure.

Great video! Something to note - the Seal n Shine technically had two coats per its directions, whereas the Ceramic version would need a coat, 24 hr cure time, then another coat, then another 24 hrs to have the same number of applications. It could be argued that this test was two coats of Seal n Shine vs one of Ceramic. There are pros and cons to that, I guess.

I'll try it when it comes out-- but Seal n Shine was the winner of the torture test (again). I still have a few bottles and the stuff just lasts forever. So I'll keep using it. Hey, Lien! We wanted to confirm prices! Our Hybrid Solutions is currently just under $16 on Amazon.com, while our ICE Seal N Shine is just under $10. We designed this product to compliment the fan-favorite ICE Seal N Shine and created it to solve some of the detailers’ pain points with SNS. The difference-makers in the Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating product include:
      - Easy on, easy off product application even in direct sunlight & high humidity - amazing results on paint, metal, plastic & glass in minutes
      - Chemical resistant, but designed for real-world application so it lasts up to 12 months when applied per the directions on the bottle (cure time is important here - AND don’t apply your 2nd coat until after the first coat cured for 24 hours)
      - Increased depth of paint color, gloss & shine

Here’s my recent review. I purchased this last year in June while at the auto parts store getting products to do a last minute detail on my mustang before autocross and car show on father’s day weekend. I did not properly apply because I was in a rush and I can tell you that wash was the last time I washed it until last week when it was time to bring it back out. Car sat in the elements the entire time as well as a few drives during the winter when the roads were clear enough. As I was washing the car I was confused as to why the water was beading so much and I had completely spaced that I used this hybrid ceramic spray that day last June. Bought the product as an “eh why not” and now it’s all I’ll ever use. Quick and is as well as offers great protection especially if properly applied. 10/10 - weekend warrior detailer

Very disappointing that the NEW product doesn't outlast or outperform the existing product being Seal n Shine.
I don't think there was enough research and R&D put into the new products as there were with Seal n Shine.
Before SnS, the Ice Spray wax was their best performing product for many years and eventually SnS hit the market, showing how long it took for Turtle wax to come out with a product that would perform great and outperform Ice Spray wax.
This new hybrid solutions line is coming out less than a year of SnS being introduced and didn't have as long of a period to improve.
I believe this is mainly to catch the SnS hype train and introduce as many products as possible to sell as much as they can based on the reviews and impression that Seal n shine left.
The new spray coating is said to last longer than SnS and to be more concentrated and *be on steroids*, but the results clearly show that is not the case.
Thankfully I have many bottles of Seal n shine which I purchased due to its amazing value and performance, but I won't be stocking up the new products given how poorly they seem to perform.

Although Jimbo has a fun personality, and torture test comparisons are fun to watch, I am not sure how valuable they actually are. How often do people actually apply a product like Seal & Shine to their car and then judge performance through successive application of aggressive cleaners? Most people I know judge performance based on weeks of sun/UV exposure coupled with periodic mild detergent washing. I know enough about Chemistry to know these are two different routes to product failure which means a torture test winner may or may not be the best performer when judged over time/UV/normal washing. Can we get a video that tests durability like that?

    • @jusb1066

    • @egcrider6607
      @egcrider6607 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@jusb1066 Sadly, I don't think you can. 3+ months testing is what it takes to get the true answer. A couple of years ago I saw a multi-part TH-cam video series with a monthly check in for paint sealers and wax durability. However, it was from Europe and therefore didn't have the US products in their test. I don't know if that series is still on TH-cam or not. Paint manufacturers from all over the US have the same problem. They choose to apply their products to car hoods, cedar shingles, PVC siding (per their intended paint application) and place them in multi-acre exposure fields near Miami, Fl for 1-3 years of exposure. They know there is no quick test that perfectly matches the real world combination of industrial contamination, UV exposure, rain, etc. They run laboratory accelerated failure tests with hyper UV exposure and water spray to get an indication of performance, but they treat the Miami tests as the only real truth. Paint sealers are obviously different than paint, but the concept is the same. Personally, I wouldn't mind waiting 3+ months. I have a bottle of Seal & Shine and am happy to keep using it during that time.

This is a post made by Turtle Wax on Facebook about Seal N Shine VS the Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Coating ....
We’re loving the buzz about NEW Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating! We designed this product to compliment fan-favorite ICE Seal N Shine and created it to solve some of the detailers’ pain points with SNS.
We’re not going to lie, if you want a chemical resistant product, ICE Seal N Shine is your go to, but if you want the complete package - from ease of use, to durability to a high-gloss shine, Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating is our pick!

seal and shine does less well in real life. it has good chemical resistance but can easily be washed off by dirt and abrasion. the good thing about the ceramic spray coating is that it can be used on a wet car and makes wiping off water really easy. its not the same as just using seal and shine on a wet car. Seal and shine performs very very poorly when i do i.e. a road trip of 2000km. Also seal and shine imho cannot be boosted. you can apply 20 layers or 1, it makes no difference. Hybrid ceramic wax CAN be boosted. if you use it after wash every 2 weeks or whatever you definetely get a durability boost which lasts for a few months.

Lots of hype around these new TW Hybrid products, but I think people
don't really understand them yet either. Turtle Wax says that you have
to compound the Hybrid Sealant off to completely remove. Even if your
torture tests show that its removed by no water beading, they say its
still on there. I currently use Reload and reviews show that it doesn't
last that long. I want to try the Turtle Wax Hybrid Sealant, but am
hesitant to try because if I don't like it or if something better comes
out, I have to compound it out. I don't have a polisher or experience
doing this nor do most people. I also have PPF on half may car and this
creates issues as well as I dont want to polish the PPF and scratch it.
Can you address some of these points in your video? Will the Hybrid Bond
over a old coat of Reload or is special prep required? Is the "starting
with a surface with no residue of other products" and example of people
making a bigger deal over things than needs be? IT seems like this TW
Hybrid is more of a coating that a sealant like Reload (more temporary)
and If I were going to apply a coating I would probably spend more money
to get a 2 year sealant like C Quartz or something like that. I think
people need clarification as to if this is a coating (permanent) or a
sealant (temporary) so that more accurate comparison reviews can be made

I’ve applied Seal N Shine to a few different cars and the only time it got streaky for me was when I was doing it in heat/sunlight.
You absolutely cannot use Seal N Shine in the sun or else you will get streaks. It flash-dries on the surface so you literally can’t wipe it off. To fix the streaks, I waited until it cooled off, then reapplied the product on top of the streaky areas and it fixed it.

On the ceramic coating, a 24 hour cure is needed between coats too. You put it on too thick imo. Great vid! Can't wait to try it. No such thing as a "wet cure", really, imo. S&S needs no cure. The ceramic coating will wash right off if not cured properly. In conclusion, for my money, I'm Stickin with S&S. Cheaper and more durable. In my use of S&S, I had no problem with the streaking on the paint. However, I did have some streaking on glass. TW tried to one up on S&S but imo just didn't score with the ceramic.

To comment on a few things. I'd say I want water beading. It is a higher level of hydrophobicity. When a coating or sealant, etc, starts to degrade, it goes from beading to sheeting. So if we're already starting at sheeting, its hydrophobicity isn't as intense as it could be. And another thing, usually when rain water collects on a car, its as if you left distilled water or purified H2O on a panel that mostly doesnt leave any water spots. Since tap or hose water contains all the minerals and agents that we'd consider make up hard water, those agents dry and leave spots on the panel. Thats generally where water spots come from.
Other than that cool video man I'm really loving this first person shooter angle. Its really working. Keep up the good work, Jimbo.

    • @nirfz
      @nirfz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

i think what he tried to describe with the "water spots" after rain is that even if you celaned your car the day before, there is going to be dust on it, when it rains you get spots where the water picked up the dust and then dried. At least they aren't going to do anything bad to the paint like lime does (i hope that is the right translation for the mineral in most hard tap water)

    • @gotahave
      @gotahave หลายเดือนก่อน

What does rainwater contain? As a result of this process, rainwater is inherently dirty. It needs that condensation nucleus - that dust, soot, or flake of salt - in order to form and fall. This is precisely why you'll have probably noticed that, from time to time, the rain on your window leaves streaks of dust.

And this new ceramic spray has cut down alot of time for me instead of the traditional wax and sealant. It's more of a hydrophobic test then a actual chemical test. i am surprised that either of the products had anything left after that chemical test.

Ive been a fan of seal n shine since it came out i cant say ive had streaks but like a shadowy oil looking sections maybe i put it on too thick i dunno but took some effort to rub it out evenly i ran out and wanted to detail my wifes white suv ran to walmart to get more was sold out but in canada they just introduced the new turtle wax line so i grabbed a bottle of ceramic spray and im glad i did it goes on easier yet! half as much did 2019 ram limited crew and a 2019 lexus nx300 using no more than half a bottle.and the hydrophobic properties are a little better yet, after i saw the results on hers i wanted to hit my dark ram and wow did it ever turn out nice 2 days later and did a foam and rince and it was as clean as if i did a contact wash not even bird drops stuck on
, anyhow i love it im so glad i was forced to try it because its now my go too protector spray from now on! Give it a try guys even if you favor another product i love it 👍

I only experienced a little streaking with Seal n Shine on the hood only. The vehicle was at operating temperature after going through a drive thru car wash, I applied Seal n Shine as a drying aid. I attribute the streaking to the latent heat in the hood from the heat of the engine. I was able to eliminate the streaks by applying Collinite 845 to the hood and wiping it away. Not sure how "layerable those two product are but I definitely have good protection. I would like to see a salt grime mixture applied to hood and allowed to sit on the panel for a few days after a proper application of the products, to me that is real world. I am not in hurry to get the Ceramic product I have plenty of Seal n Shine. I really like Seal n Shine.

Hello everyone. I think maybe some folks are missing a bit the point with this ceramic coating line: I recon most of you (as me) are very much focused in final gloss, hidrophobicity, beading... I use for some time a nano-ceramic product (no point in mentioning the name, it is very hard to find online, is British made and is exclusive for professionals, so you normally would not find it online (only one youtube video that I'm aware). Anyway, this ceramic coating is applyed similar to the Turtle Wax ceramic coating BUT: the main point is NOT to get a real high gloss and/or hidrophobicity. It does both, but they are a sub-product. The main point of that nano ceramic product - and I think the same with the Turtle Wax product - is PROTECTION. Protection against light scratches, against bird poop :) against mosquitoes at high speed, against abrasive dust, against UV. The product I use (because I have access to it professionally) costs 50 Euro (60 US dollars?) per bottle of 250ml: that's smaller then any of the one showed. But I tell you: when you splash mosquitoes in your Ninja at 290 km/h, let them sit there for a week and then you rinse with water and they all just disappear, you understand that the point with nano ceramic coatings is protection, not shine. My humble opinion , hope it helps.

I'm a neophyte, but that makes sense to me, hence my previous post asking if the, or a, ceramic product should be applied 1st, then a "shiny one" on top, post cure, if required.

@@truthoveremotion6776 Not necessary. A good ceramic has both protection AND shine.

Right on. Most people get obfuscated by those "torture tests". Those are ridiculous. Who in heck sprays wheel claner in the bonnet in real life? If you want a real valid test, splash mosquitoes ther , or put th paint under a UV light and heat for days. But that does not make "interesting" videos, right? Duh.

Man this is a tough one but i will say i have a decent stock of S&S and it being a bit more elbow grease to keep the streaks away isn’t an issue for me because when using one towel for application and one for buffing its not that big of a deal, will still be picking up the ceramic coating for some certain areas I’d like to test, great comparison Jimbo
Edit: I’d like to emphasize again the fact even turtle wax mentioned on their instagram that if someone just wants a chemical resistant beast that S&S is the go to but the ceramic coating caters to those who just dont wanna put in thr additional elbow grease for buffing off the S&S.
Love the fact how they are transparent and arent just trying to upsell
