- The Macbook Pro M3 Max is the best laptop I have ever owned and I would even go as far as to say its the best laptop of 2024. From the build quality to the software, literally never had such an enjoyable experience on a laptop before. The ecosystem is also a really nice touch. I have always been a very careful spender but this laptop is absolutely insane. I will be using this for a very very long time.

I used Mac from the late 80 until late 90s then because of gaming and work I used Windows until the M1 came out. While I still have a gaming system my primary system is an M1 Pro MBP that still does everything I need from an audio/video or Unix standpoint. Congrats, I know you will enjoy it and it will last for years! The M3 does support ray tracing as well so if you decide you do want to play some games you actually can :) Enjoying the consistent content again!
In regards to durability 3 of my 4 sons have 14" MBPs (2 M1 Pro and 1 M2) that they carry in their backpacks to school / college and use all the time. Thus far none of them have had any issue with them at all nor have I had issues with my 16".

If you hold the green button in the top left corner of your window you can pick where it will snap to!
If you hover over the expand button it will give you the options to snap your windows in side by side
The MacBooks are truly a marvel in computing considering how freaking efficient their CPUs are. I would pick a Mac over an iPhone if I could pick a single Apple product to purchase for the rest of my life
great video. My M1 Max Is incredible. 16" 32gb RAM. its incredible. runs linux VMs flawlessly. I just got it sealed brand new for 1900$ on ebay. Its sick and will easily last 5-6 years

Nice to see this review. I am considering getting one for Uni later this year and wasn't sure on Black or Silver... Definitely prefer Black but was worried Silver would hold better over time and with scratches.
I won't play games so much on it but I like that I can play some games like Civ as they have native Mac versions which go through Rosetta
Last Mac was a 2017 MBP and was by far the worst laptop I've ever owned... Apple Silicon solved pretty much all the issues I had with it though

Great review. I’ve been on the fence between this and a Mac Studio. The portability, especially for music production given that I move around, is key.

Now I am looking to buy a MacBook for using Logic Pro but I like to play only league of legends in my free time . Do you have the 30 or 40 core gpu? Recently considering my budget I am thinking of 16 pro 18 ram 512 ssd and I don’t know if it’s worth it

If possible, you should give Asahi Linux a chance! It is really on another level. The level of optimisation for such a new architecture is just impressive. Plus, it leaves all of the MacOS bloat aside.

I’m thinking about getting this laptop. What editing program do you use? Is it Final Cut Pro or something else? And Logic Pro have you by any chance heard good things about this software?
I haven’t used Final Cut Pro, but I use Logic Pro, and it is very straightforward and easy to use. I’m a windows user that came from using Studio One, and Logic was easy enough to figure out. It is also cheaper than Studio one.
My only complaint w the m3 pro max is the cost of storage. I only got 1TB because the system already cost almost $4k with the extended warranty, and I couldn’t bring myself to spend another $600 for an additional terabyte.
I will say this. If you edit videos an do "content creation", you dont need a mac. For coding, on the other hand its great. Its basically a linux machine that is very stable.

I don't doubt that Apple makes genuinely good products, I've just never been a big fan of them. Their devices aren't as flexible for my liking. I end up doing a lot of tinkering with my devices and Apple doesn't like that.
But the straw that broke the camel's back for me is the fact they're fighting to kill the Right to Repair act. I don't remember if it's still ongoing but they don't want people to repair their devices at all. They'd rather the consumer just buy a new device altogether.
that is true. i disagree with their stance on repairs but i really enjoy using their products so for me, it was enough to get it

Double monitor is a gimmick. Never used it after a week. Gave up cause it was too slow/lagging. Airdrop has a file size limit. The settings screen is overcrowded/finegrained both iOS and OSX. Not at all consistent with their own UX/UI guidelines. Emojis not working. They are too comfortable. They need to change.

I think its totally worth investing in your work, as someone who has always been super frugal, upgrades can be really worth it when done correctly
