    Full self driving can definitely be purchased after delivery, however it will probably cost more. All the hardware is present in all cars sold, it is just software activation.

      Garth Berry , hardware is only present for cars delivered after 4/19. All others will need a cpu update provided by Tesla with the purchase of FSD.

    • @danbron
      @danbron 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      shepherdsknoll8 this is a UK review. No cars were delivered before 4/19 and even so the current FSD features do not require the upgraded hardware and some cars built after 4/19 did not get built with the the required hardware if FSD was not purchased

    • @garthberry
      @garthberry 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      shepherdsknoll8 Prior to 4/19 hardware is still present for full self driving (cameras, radar, ultrasonic and computer). After 4/19 cars are fitted with Tesla’s in house full self driving computer. It is more capable and will support more advanced features, those features are not expected until later this year at which point people that paid for full self driving prior to 4/19 will start to get the free upgrade.

    • @neilbrandon
      @neilbrandon 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good point.. Maybe the cables are best in the frunk. Also its worth pointing out that the cables are not required at all if using CCS, Tesla, and home tethered.

    Firmness in the ride is due to the chassis that cradles the batteries and is stiff. The upside is safety, longevity and along with the drag coefficient is very stable.

    You can buy full self driving after delivery. I did. It makes a lot of sense in Australia, where you have to pay 30% luxury car tax, so full self driving would have cost me $13,000 (on the performance version) if I ordered it on the car, but $8,500 after delivery.

    If you do the lifetime cost calcs (i.e.including savings in fuel cost and maintenance/repairs as well as incentives) things look a lot different. Suddenly you're saving a LOT of money. Money spent on cars is not just the sticker price! If you add in the gain in convenience - if you can charge at home (or at work) - then it's a no-brainer.

    • @peterzerfass4609

      @@michaelh7595 That's like saying: Instead of buying a Luxury car I can save money by buying an old Dacia subcompact. Apples. Oranges. If you want to compare a new car you have to compare it to a new car - and also of the same class (in this case this would be something like a BMW 3 series or a Mercedes C-Class). The Yaris plays in no way, shape or form in the same class as a Model 3.

      At 30mpg, that's 20p per mile.
      She just mentioned 7p per mile (£7/100).
      So one third the cost.
      Every 10,000 miles, £1,400 saved on fuel alone?

    • @ejv1963
      @ejv1963 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rogerstarkey5390 , I calculated with a 42 mpg diesel against Model 3 electric cost from the home outlet .As there is a 15% loss of energy on home charging, the actual electricity cost you incur, would be touch higher than what the onboard car computer says . It's still 15p vs 5p. When you factor in the ICE car service costs , engine oil and brake pads, the difference would be more

    Kona (entry level) $77,990 + ORC (or $83,990 + for the higher trim)
    Model 3 standard range plus $75,900 + ORC if you don't add any options.

    Vicky thanks for the video. Agree on HUD, but what about the 11.8m turning circle? Try doing some tight parking, or a u turn on a mini UK roundabout... Its rather frustrating that the Model 3 has a wider turning circle than the much bigger model S that is only 11.4m. Also the rear leg comfort is not great as the seat is low, and your thigh and keen sticks in the air. Most folks don't spot this on a short test drive. As for the ride, how did you find it compares to the e-Niro? Is there less jitter? I found the ride and noise on e-Niro less than Kona electric.

Worrying is Tesla response - if you don’t like it, cancel your order. Tesla knows it has a great product and appears unconcerned about the level of service.

      To really answer the question (it is just 1 month old): the batteries are made for 300.000-500.000 miles, a new 1.000.000 miles battery is in development. There is quite enough information out there of studies with lots of high-mileage cars, which show that the batteries hold up incredibly well. The rest of the car depends on where and under what conditions you drive imho.
      I am not a M3 driver (yet) but I think most problems can be identified right after delivery (production problems) and then it just works and does not even need service for you to keep your 4y warranty (8y for the battery).

    • @gk2024
      @gk2024 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      aidan flood ya that is a downside even in Canada the insurance prices are a bit high for this car. But here’s how I saw it when I ordered mine. I spend 400 bucks a month on gas. If I were to buy a $40000 after 10 years the amount I would’ve paid for gas would be 48000 (400 a month x 12 months x 10 years) not to mention maintenance costs. So even tho insurance the initial price of the Tesla is high if you plan on keeping the car for 10 years it’s worth looking into.

    • @Bonnie_Shot
      @Bonnie_Shot 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      G K true! We have a company here called direct line who I found out about, £1400 a year they’re charging for insurance! Which is £140 a month (pay a little more when you pay monthly) and the car is £530 a month with a £6000 downpatment- which unfortunately, is a little out of my budget- I’m going to wait a year or two until second hand ones become available

    • @themightydash1714

      In comparison you can buy a classic car for a couple or grand, actually own it outright, pay no road tax, no MOT and insure it for £150 a year, You'll pay for fuel, but the car will increase in value over the period you own it. People are brainwashed into being poor, barely half the UK own their own home, yet you get people renting and driving cars like this, people need to get their priorities straight xD

I totally appreciate Tesla has done a MUCH better job with their technology than other car companies and maybe it’s more complex than I’m imagining to blend the two. CarPlay currently ‘takes over’ which wouldn’t be a good idea for Tesla. So they’d probably have to work together to create a new experience. So, yeah, probably not worth it.
