    The guy is a very strong player, probably fargo 780 that could possibly won that match against the legend. In any case it was a good match

    Saw him in an interview last year, he’s planning on semi retirement in the not to distant future.
    We’ll still be able to see him in some major events for a while, but he wants to spend more time on his true passion, fishing..
    Specifically, ice fishing in his home state of Minnesota ! 🎣
    He will be missed.., except by his opponents ! 😊🎱

      Don’t get it twisted, his true passion is pool, but he’s getting burnt out and ice fishing isn’t stressful. He’s already put in the time in pool and wants to spend more time fishing. He’s played thousands and thousands of hours of pool and no where near that much fishing.

    I just got into 9 ball this year. Shane seemed to struggle to get into the final 16-24 in many competitions. He has a great reputation, love to watch him play. It almost seems like he was distracted in recent competition, he did not do so well :-(

    I don't play much 10 ball, but from what I read I thought you couldn't combo the 10 like the guy did in the first game. Does it depend on the league?

    • @jomarscavella68
      @jomarscavella68 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All depends on the event rules . Some play no early 10 , using the 1-5 for a combo . Anything after that’s a go

    That's my kind of 10 ball. Call the ball and the pocket. Reduces the slop.

    • @fastone371
      @fastone371 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      At this level there is very, very little slop so its not really a thing. The only time slop really matters is when you play someone a race to like 6-2, the guy going to 2 will ride the 9 hoping to get lucky 2 times before the 6 gets his wins. When you look at the big picture it really doesn't matter if its slop or not, its not like APA 8 ball.

    • @RT-Ford
      @RT-Ford 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@fastone371 Whether it's a little or a lot, a shot that doesn't fall in a called pocket shouldn't count. I've watched many matches here on TH-cam between the best players in the world and I've seen many uncalled shots that determined the outcome of the match. I think the ball and pocket should always be called in every pocket billiard game.

    • @fastone371
      @fastone371 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RT-Ford If the rare slop shot counts in 9 ball and its unacceptable where do you draw the line? What about when an opponent misses leaving you in a lock up safety? That's luck. How about an opponent breaking and leaving half the rack tied up for you? More luck. Making the 9 on the break, more luck. Is it necessary to remove all of that luck too for the game to count as a real test of skill? I think the players do not agree, there are some that play 10 ball using 9 ball rules yet it is beyond extremely rare to hear of anyone playing call shot 9 ball.

    • @RT-Ford
      @RT-Ford 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I disagree. Slop shots in 9 ball are very common. That's why most amateurs don't want to play call pocket. They depend on luck to beat a more proficient opponent. Of course, you can't eliminate all luck. That's part of the game and you have to accept it. What I try to do is eliminate as much of it as possible. If someone wants to play me for money, they have to play by my rules. The 9 ball on the break is spotted and doesn't count as a win. If a called ball is missed, the player loses his turn. Every establishment has it's own rules. I've been to many pool rooms over the years and what I'm saying is true. My rules are my rules and yours are yours. I may choose not to play you because of your rules and you may choose not to play me, and that's fine.
