    Thank you for calling out the color correcting! It was so annoying watching people paint their faces with like red color correctors like they were a damn painting. But then they covered it with full coverage foundation or concealer anyway. The only people that truly need that are the people with pretty prominent under eye discoloration. For the most part, i dont really see much color correcting actually make enough of a difference.

    Hey Samantha, just to let you know, I've watched Hindash for quite a while, it was completely his idea and his concept, he's a very talented artist and was an artist before he got into makeup, the idea behind it was creating something that's both beginner friendly and artist friendly, the concept was based on an artist's palette. I completely agree as far as being completely blown away by this concept, if you go to his YT channel you can see he's got different looks up using this palette, he's up there for me as far as talent in MU artistry goes. As a fellow MUA he's probably the artist that inspires me the most. I too draw portraits etc so this palette makes complete sense to me too in terms of depths of one colour to create that seamless blend like you said in this video, genius! It did remind me of the Kevyn Aucoin blushes, however I too have never seen it done in an eyeshadow palette before. PS you look radiant Sam. Lots of love from England 😘💖

    The way i understood the Charlotte Tilbury cruelty free thing is that they opened pop up stores in mainland China where people can test/swatch products, but in order to actually buy them they have to order them online. So the products that are ordered online aren’t tested on animals BUT the products in the pop up stores could be tested on animals (which CT obviously consented to).

    • @savanah2775
      @savanah2775 3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      "So Charlotte Tilbury has the INTENTIONS of staying cruelty free. Since January 2021, China no longer legally requires pre-market animal testing. Since that change, Charlotte T has been sold in mainland China. Up to this point all is good and cruelty free. The issue to look out for is Post market animal testing. If a products safety is questioned, China will have it tested before sales can continue. CT has said that in this event they will simply chose to permanently remove the product from the Chinese market, and NOT allow it to be tested. IF they stick to this statement, which they have so far, then they are still cruelty free. Hope this helps you Sam and anyone else that's unsure."

    • @savanah2775
      @savanah2775 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      so in summary, the products aren't required to be tested to be in the popup store from what I understand. They are vulnerable to the Chinese government choosing to test them whenever they see fit. But (again as i understand it) CT can refuse to have it tested and simply pull all of those products from the Chinese market. I think the real question in will the Chinese market try to test many products, and will CT stay true to their claim and refuse to have it tested.

    • @Mar-tl1xn
      @Mar-tl1xn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@savanah2775 thank you so much for the additional information!! Something that i find weird though is that they are pretending to have entered the Chinese market after this new law in 2021, when the news about the pop up stores already broke in the beginning of 2020. I also think that the Chinese government isn’t required to actually the notify the company of any post market testing.. (although i would have to research this more). I wish they would have just stayed out of it tbh, it feels so shady.

    • @savanah2775
      @savanah2775 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Mar-tl1xn yeah it's all very confusing. But I think, if CT is being truthful, that it's good they entered the market. It might help to create a cultural shift for the Chinese people to think about cruelty free. Because before it was simply not an option to care about animal testing if you wanted any cosmetics or skincare. Hopefully 🤞 this can lead to further change of the Chinese government/peoples stance on animal testing. And hopefully someday they make less shady loophole seeming laws about animal cruelty.

    The only problem I see with the hindash pallete is let’s say you use one of the shades to create a specific tone or gradient that you want in your eye look, how are you going to guarantee that your next swipe with your finger or brush is going to be that exact same gradient or transition that you just put down? I feel like unless your incredibly precise it could lead to some eye looks being kinda off from each other just because you didn’t swipe in exactly the same manner twice.

    Totally agree with you Sam; the colour correction trend was full of products that required full coverage products to paint over them, which would have covered everything underneath anyway(!) instead of a colour correction tint that *neutralises* discolouration to facilitate using LESS coverage product despite having blemishes, redness or darkness etc etc.

    Hi Sam! This might be boring to some people but I am also trying to go cruelty free (though I have some MAC products 😩) and here is what I have determined about Charlotte Tilbury: There is a pop-up store in China but you can only explore products and then order them online. Right now they are not actually manufacturing in China so there is no animal testing. Some people are kind of waiting in the wings to see if they end up manufacturing there, but right now I think they are going out of their way not to do so, so they are cruelty free right now. Love your videos, you’re such a joy to watch! 💕

    I’m sure others mentioned this but the Hindash palette can be worn and used for custom cheek and face products also - hence the larger pan size to accommodate appropriate brushes. Also explains the color story to create bronzer, blush, contour and matte highlight. Banana powder and white for undereye Brightener. I have it and the formulas are excellent, imho. Just wanted to mention. I believe this was his original concept based on his launch video, which goes into detail on its provenance. He had working pros in mind for this one.

    there's also something else about color correctors - complementary colors (aka opposites in a color wheel) are going to make gray... like, what's the point of correcting redness or discoloration only to make your skin grey.

    • @g1ng3rsn4ps
      @g1ng3rsn4ps 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you're using the right tone of corrector (there's warm and cool and neutral versions of the same color, and they have enough pigment for the value of your skin/discoloration) there shouldn't be gray cast of any kind once foundation is applied. Emmy, Oscar and Guild award winning artists color correct for their makeups and you'd never know on screen. I work as a pro too and do it for film often, it's very useful when you have all types of people sitting in your chair (when the technique is done well ofc lol) :) Even some TH-camr/Guru people here do it correctly and well too! Jackie Aina does it fabulously for her skin. It's often (not solely, but often) helpful and needed for those of us with more melanin :)

    • @oliviamayumi
      @oliviamayumi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@g1ng3rsn4ps ohhh I was just tying into the argument that most brands/easy guides that just point you to the opposite color in the color wheel are too simplistic - I didn't mean it to come off like it did. like "if you have red skin add green color corrector on top!" isn't how color works. I totally agree with you - well done color correction works wonders, it's just not nearly as easy as choosing the complimentary color (as you said, colors aren't just hues, they have a value and a saturation and it all should be properly taken into account).

    Agree about the color correctors. I’m dying for Becca or Charlotte Tilbury to expand their range to include a redness corrector. The textures of both are SO good (I think I prefer the Charlotte Tilbury as it’s less tacky). Most green correctors have such a white base to make them appear the MOST green in the tube but make you look like an actual ghoul when they’re on your face.

    It's not exactly what I envisioned, but that eyeshadow palette is almost something that I've wanted. I sometimes want to do one single color on my eye with the lid the lightest, crease slightly darker and the the corner even darker. An ombre of that color in one palette would be so helpful.

    Thank you for verbalizing why green color correctors have never worked for me!!! I have always had the issue that either the skin toned concealer I try to top it with picks up the green corrector or I have to add soooooo many layers of the skin toned corrector to cover the green that the spot is just as obvious bc of how thick the application became to cover the green. 🤦‍♀️ I don't have as much of an issue with peach/orange/yellow tones for under the eyes but it totally makes sense how the same would hold true.
