Right!?! Are you FK me? The body of work from this band certainly speaks for itself. Well-earned, and timely, induction. (too many are not) And totally biased here - this is more of the soundtrack of my glorious yet misspent (?) youth! Cheers rl 🤘👹🤘
that was awful, seriously. What the heck are THEY doing up there. I dont care how great they were, this should have been a moment for all of HEART to be on stage. Jerry Cantrell even asked Roger Fisher-" Why the heck am i here? Ann Wilson really screwed that up royally.
I remember when this song came out and how blown away I was with her vocals. That was back in the 70's when vocalists had to sing because there was no autotune. In a way I feel bad for Nancy, she is overshadowed by Ann but if you see them enough you realize she also has a great voice and is a great guitar player.
They are both awesome. But Ann didn't overshadow Nancy nearly as much as they both overshadowed the rest of the band. Then Roger Fisher and Steve Fossen get fired from their own band! It's kinda like you buy a nice house, marry a woman, then you get divorced and she gets the house. The Wilsons and Fishers broke up and the women got the band. Lol Anyway, they weren't the same after that. In my mind Heart hasn't really existed since then, now it's just Ann and Nancy Wilson backed by various people. Roger Fisher is one of my guitar heroes and influences on my own playing.
Nancy Wilson's opening riff on this song is so iconic, you know it's Barracuda. To be honest I didn't listen to Heart growing up, and this is the only song I know from this band. But it is a classic 🤘
Many singers when you hear them live don't/can't hit some notes the same as you'd hear on the album cut because of lack of production. Especially with older singers. And that's fine because you don't really expect it in a live performance. Ann Wilson however, hammers those notes like she's using a nail gun - almost exactly as she has for almost 40 years. If you haven't heard Heart doing Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center (in front of Led Zeppelin) you really need to. She's one of few singers that could pull it off and it shows on Robert Plants face.
I've seen them live several times and met Ann and Nancy on three different occasions! Not only are they outstanding vocalist they are incredible musicians! Thanks again and great reaction!
I saw them live in the mid 80's and they were absolutely awesome. I'm so glad I did. I've always loved Heart. Check out their cover of Stairway To Heaven at the Kennedy center, tribute to Led Zeppelin. No one else could pull it off quite like they do with Jason Bonham on drums. It's just amazing.
As others have commented, if you haven't already reacted to it please check out their version of Stairway from the 2012 Kennedy Center honoring Led Zeppelin. It's absolutely epic!
Yes! I came here to say this! Her cover of Stairway and Disturbed’s cover of Sound of Silence are the 2 best covers I have ever heard! Goosebumps all the way through both of them!!
Love the ladies. Saw Ann and Nancy in concert so many times is Seattle. Every time they performed in Seattle, me and my girlfriends piled into the car and headed north, to see our ladies "rock". ❤ Awww. . Chris. 😢. I miss Chris. Still heartbroken over Chris.
You can never go wrong with these two ladies. Heart is amazing and Ann is among the best vocalists, male or female and Nancy is phenomenal as well and also has a great voice! I'd recommend checking out this song live when they were younger too! Always excellent!
Like many great Seattle singers such as Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, and Geoff Tate, Ann had vocal training from David Kyle. It might be worth taking a look at his students back to back from a vocal coach's perspective to see what similarities they have in their repertoire that they might have have picked up from their shared teacher. What I've noticed is he seems to be able to teach people with good low ranges how to stretch their chest and mix into higher pitches than is typical for their 'natural' range.
I remember hearing HEART for the first time the year I graduated high school. 1976 . I went to see them live in 77 I believe. I've seen them 5 or 6 times now and they never disappoint. Don't forget about Nancy! Ausome harmonys and guitar.
Add to the fact that Ann is slamming those vox against a serious high volume electric guitar, bass and drum backdrop! She is epic and always has been...
Has Ann Wilson ever sung a note off key? Missed hitting any one single note ever? Nope? Never? That's what I thought. She's the GOAT of female rock singers. Period. End of story.
I just happened to listen to 'Magic Man' on the radio a few minutes ago, driving home from work this morning. It's the same voice in both songs, decades apart. That's good vocal longevity.
Ann Wilson is a national treasure. I saw the Dog and Butterfly tour in 1978 and they were phenomenal. I’ve seen Heart/Ann Wilson solo 6 times and they never disappoint. Ann is one of my all-time favorite singers as well. ❤️🤘🤘
My very first ever concert to attend was Heart… New Year Eve, 1977-78. It’s also, consequently, the first time I ever smelled pot! Such talented vocalists and musicians!
I saw Heart on stage after Dreamboat Annie came out. Then, I saw them once more after the release of Dog and Butterfly. They never disappoint. Always top notch.
One thing I love about this particular song is the sheer venom that Ann brings to the stage. Another Heart song that I'd live to see analysed is Bad Animals. It seems to me that Ann carries the entire song because the guitars just give her the framework on which she hangs ger performance.
Nancy Wilson is like fine wine gets better with age. She is my favorite female singer. Listen to, the dog and the butterfly ❤it got me through my teenage years.
It's a fun surprise that you, as a voice instructor, really enjoys & appreciates this genre of music too! I had the (unaware) stereotype that you're preference would be classical! So, it's quite fun to watch the variety of sounds you enjoy! 😉
Great reaction, Bethany! I really love the studio version of this, which is the one that blew me away in my teens. It was one of the first non-standard time signature rock songs that charted high. Ann's voice has stood the test of time, too. I really enjoyed this one.
My favourite female singer of all time. I love her with my whole HEART (oh a pun!) SO, I’m a Gen x and I listen to Heart on the original vinyl I bought with pocket money when I was 15. I lie down on the carpet with headphones that plug into the amp… old school experience of listening to music. Ann is meant to be listened to like that. You can’t change my mind. Thank you for this video
I first heard this song years ago in a video game, GTA San Andreas. I liked it that time, but then I completely forgot about it. Last week one of our customers suggested barracuda vpn to connect their system for a development. When I heard the name, I thought of the song and I searched you tube. I found it and shared it with my colleagues. They are mostly younger and they didn't know about this song. We listened and appreciated once again. And today, in my favourite reaction channel, you react this song. What kind of a coincidence is this? We have a phrase in Turkish for such situations. " Our hearts were together".
Both of these Women are so incredibly Talented! Ann with her Outstanding Vocal Quality and Nancy with such a Classic, Rocking style of Guitar playing! Two of the Queens of Rock N Roll!!!
Ann is who really made me want to sing cos I've got a deeper voice. It's very comfy down there for me. But the climb, hooley dooley if I'm really warmed up I can get it lol
I’ve been waiting for you to do Ann Wilson. 🙏🏻❤️ She’s one of my favourite female vocalist’s of all time. She’s 62yrs old here. Very impressive. I love all your analyses. 🎙👌🏻👌🏻 Hoping you dive into Barbara Streisand. 🤞🏻
When i was a kid in the late 1970's & early 1980's the biggest Rock bands were Heart, Van Halen, Rush & David Bowie. At least here on the west coast. They were the most commonly played artists on radio & every kid i knew had their albums.
Ann has such control of every facet of her craft. She always brings it no matter if it's a live show, studio or even singing the anthem at a game. Chills and goosebumps abound. How blessed we are to have her sharing all of these years.
Not only do they have HEART, they light a 🔥🔥🔥🔥with each song they perform... Fi-yah... And still rocking it out at the young age of 62... Legends are these sisters... Classic, timeless and the tunes still sound FRESH... all you missed Bethany is the head banging 😉😉😁😁😁🔥🎙️🎹🎶🎼🎧🌟🎵🎤🔥
What a great job you did. By far the greatest if my vore counts? I seen them live 11 times! She has always been my favorite. Thank you for sharing your passion for such a God given intrument. I seen them everywhere, one time i was very close to her, I swear she doesnt even need the microphone. Just love them. Still gives me chills. Sad part is not many really have the same passion for her voice like we do! Thank you for this one.
Holy Barracuda vocal performance! May I suggest the next step would be to set up an interview with Ann Wilson for your show. Book that ticket for Seattle, meet your vocal inspiration and share some insights with your channel. Let the adventure begin....
I do so enjoy your videos, Ann is one of my all time favorites. However, Nancy is a terrific singer as well. Would you please consider reacting to a song in which she takes the lead? ‘These Dreams’ is a great one to consider. Stay safe and stay well. 😎✌🏻🤟🏻🤙🏻🖖🏻
This song has been one of my favorites right from the very first time I heard it on the radio when I was I think 11 back in the 70s. Love Ann. Ever heard/seen them do that Led Zeppelin tribute of Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center in 2012. Awesome!
🤘❤🤘 Ann Wilson is such an iconic figure in rock and hard rock. Her most recent solo album came out, last year, and it's amazing! Many people think Ann & Nancy are the founders of Heart. They're not. Heart was founded in 1967 by lead guitarist Roger Fisher and bassist Steve Fossen. They auditioned & hired Ann in 1970. Nancy was brought in, in 1974. Heart is definitely rich in drama, heartache and disappointment. According to a 2022 interview, Nancy said she and Ann have not spoken to each other since 2019.
Ann is awesome always brings her "A" game. If I may make a suggestion, give Sandy Denny a listen. She brought British folk music kicking and screaming into the 20th century
I've seen them multiple times live, great shows....but listen to the studio version when she was in her prime. Also listen to her sisters lead work, like These Dreams. There is some mind blowing harmonies in there songs as well.
When I was a child in the 70's my Mom had this record. I used to cry when she played it because Ann Wilson's voice was so high that it hurt my young ears!
I completely Agree with you Ann Wilson Her Vocals Wow! First time I saw them was 1979 Texxas Jam and Oh When she sang Dog and Butterfly You have this one covered I have gotten to see them several times and will be seeing in August with Journey Def Leppard Steve Miller and Cheap Trick Love Heart
Interested in what you may think of Dutch singer Willemijn Verkaik, (among other things, she played Elphaba in Wicked in Germany, The Netherlands, Broadway, and West End; singing the show in three different languages; many videos of her singing in all three in a single performance. Dutch seems like a brutal language to sing in.).
Anne has a fabulous voice even in interviews, entrancing to listen to. 💕 At - 08:00 - she can't quite hit the G5 note, so she goes for the F sharp, D and E note, phrase is nicely adapted. -- 10:12. -- , here she scoops up to the G5 note. Just to show us how much fun she has singing. Gosh this is only 10 years ago, she's no spring chicken and she's killing it.
Little Queen was the first 8-track tape I ever bought! Ann is one of the greatest rock vocalists of all time, male or female. A bit of trivia - Ann actually had a pretty serious stuttering problem when she was a kid, but realized that she didn't stutter when she sang! I'd say she Aced speech therapy!
New subscriber here. Your appreciation is so great to see. I'm a huge fan of both of the Wilson sisters. Nancy could be the lead singer in any band Ann wasn't a member of. I recommend you search youtube for "Heart Battle of Evermore 1995" when Led Zeppelin was inducted to the Hall of Fame. They "own" that song and play it completely acoustic. The blending of their voices gives me chills. It's a permanent tab in my browser.
This comes from Heart's induction into the hall of fame. The year before Ann and Nancy performed at the Kennedy Center Honors concert, performing "Stairway to Heaven" for the surviving members of Led Zeppelin, who were among the honorees for that year. A side note: the drummer for the performance was Jason Bonham, Zep's former drummer, the late John Bonham's son, making for a real tug at the heartstrings, I think.
When Chris Cornell and Jerry Cantrell are playing backup guitar for you..... Ann and Nancy are Legends
To be fair… they are legends and the others were lucky enough to be in Seattle and apart of *their* scene. 💜
Right!?! Are you FK me?
The body of work from this band certainly speaks for itself.
Well-earned, and timely, induction. (too many are not)

right??
Her voice is just as fantastic live. That can’t be said for everyone. She’s definitely one of the greatest female voices in rock.
I think she's the best female rock singer ever 🎤
Ann Wilson is arguably the best female rock vocalist of all time and my personal favorite. Loved this one!
I agree 👍no one comes close !!!!she was born to belt!!!!I love her
I just saw Ann Wilson on Saturday here in Sterling heights Michigsn!! She is still AMAZING!! at 73 years old!!
Sultry and powerful. She still sounds great after all these years, but, she was utterly astonishing back in her younger days.
Such a great band.
Yes the album recording shows that. And doesn't have the heavy fuzz sound of the backing guitars in this performance.
their rendition of "Stairway to Heaven" for The Kennedy Center was epic!
I remember when this song came out and how blown away I was with her vocals. That was back in the 70's when vocalists had to sing because there was no autotune. Yes, Nancy Wilson is very talented in her own right. That guitar isn't just a prop.

Interestingly enough, Heart's first #1 single was the one song that Nancy sang lead on.

Freaking Nancy Wilson, could not be a more outstanding accompaniment, and phenomenal in her own right.

Almost 50 years
Love that cover and it's just amazing, the reaction from Robert Plant. And he usually hates covers 😄 But not that night. It's just epic.

I listen to it at least once a month. I love it and also the reaction by the remaining members of Led Zeppelin. Just fantastic..
It is utterly magnificent from start to finish, for every reason -- no matter how many times I watch it, I'm always surprised by joy.
Yes! I came here to say this! Her cover of Stairway and Disturbed’s cover of Sound of Silence are the 2 best covers I have ever heard! Goosebumps all the way through both of them!!

To be able to sing like that 36 years after the original recording is just astounding.
It’s clear the players slowed down 5- 8 bpm to help Anne catch her breath during this powerhouse vocal.

A side note: the drummer for the performance was Jason Bonham, Zep's former drummer, the late John Bonham's son, making for a real tug at the heartstrings, I think.
