At first, the bubbled up look didn't appeal to me, but the depth it gives the cockpit makes total sense, gotta say, it is a revolutionary design with function.

Very innovative, this looks like a boat from the book on home building boats from a Popular Mechanics book series on DIY projects from the late 60s.

years ago i built a small scale miss budweiser by up scaleing Dumas R/C blueprints have ave a small machine shop in one of my gaurages i had it custom painted rotax powered up to 87mph

The boat is still going strong, I sold it after about a year. The new owner painted it black red and whit following the shape, looks really good.
@@BoatsandEngines Very cool. Have you seen the kid in Thailand that makes the miniature speed boate that kinda loom like a F16 fighter jet? I think those would be insanely popular in the states. I always think about you and your building skills when I see them. If you ever had extra time and wanted to do a build series on youtube, would you even consider building one?

I was wondering if maybe you would be willing to help my son and I build a boat ourselves with tips tricks or maybe even help us physically build it
This hydroplane needs an inboard due to the porpoising.. Johnny Sweet told me the prop has to have lift built in too.
Just a bit of trim sorted the porpoise (it's manual). Right about the prop though - all I had was a chopper, cleaver would be better: more lift and more efficient in surface mode.
@@BoatsandEngines so with a lifting prop, can a outboard run on the bottom half of the prop like the inboards do?
@@MrRerod yes both cleaver and choppers are designed for surface piercing, your have to have a modified lower unit or separate water pickup for cooling - same as inboard

I bought the plans and built a " mini-most" which was a little hydroplane. I 5 hp motor would push you pretty fast. But! After realizing that they just had a epoxy reinforced wooden transom. I had to do some modification. Do not trust them at all.
When you made the forms, did you cut the pieces by hand, or were they cnc cut? Is this your design/engineering, or did you get it from a book/magazine/online? How long do the molds last until they are worn out or need to be replaced?

Motor needs to be deeper to reduce your angel of attack and stop the porpoising. Great job!

The old Merc: Had to start in gear. If you wanted to go into reverse, you shut off engine, put in reverse and restart engine. Repeat in the opposite sequence to get back into forward gear.

It's an a67, but I think it may be out of production by now, great little unit with a good sonar. I actually work for a marine electronics company this may interest you also: echozilla.co.uk/

@@BoatsandEngines Thanks, I like that newer model, I rebuilt my old 1998 21' Stingray 200CX and have rebuild the dashboard and also added a Tablet for Navigation and Music.

Haha, yes and it was cheaper here too, think it was about £10 ($15) per sheet...
Beautiful results! Maybe because of the 8-minute edit you lost me during the construction process when your were building the boat - looking at the wood build, thought it was the boat, then suddenly it appeared to be a mold, then out popped a hull...not sure when one part ended and another began, and some stuff missing in between. Nice boat, though.
