  • This is a video of why I chose the less powerful Ego 530 CFM over their 650 CFM model. I explain why I’m making the change from my old Black and Decker leaf blower to a new Ego model, and how the 530 has enough power for me.

    I bought the 530cfm years ago. It came with a 2.5ah battery that doesn’t have much run time. With a 5 or 7.5ah battery the run time is great.

    I bought the 650 fist but it was too powerful (for a regular house need) and too heavy with the 5.0 Amp battery so I decided to return it and got the 530 with the 2.5 Amp Battery and I couldn’t be happier, it is the right power, right weight and I can finish all my yard work in my house with it without running out of battery aaaaand It costs $100 dlls less than the 650. I hope this comment helps.

    I'd like to give you a compliment. I see all these channels that try to sell the most powerful because they are more powerful and that's what I want because I also bought the B$D leaf blower/mulcher combo and I dislike it. But you are more practical in choosing what is the better value, cost realistic for just everyday home use not trying to sell us the most of the most. so thank you, I will look into this blower for me. Hey thanks for the video. My question is the 650 comes with the 5 aH battery vs the 2.5aH battery, giving you longer running time. Did you consider that in your decision? I'm asking because I am also considering the 530 or the 650 as my next purchase.

    • @ReelGreenLawn
      @ReelGreenLawn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly my decision was more price driven at the time. My 530 with a 2.5aH did leave me hanging a few times in the fall with the job of blowing leaves of 1 big oak and 1 big pine. It was usually a 2 charge job, but the actually blowing power did just fine. Overall I am happy with the blower, and it’s doing well for my normal post lawn mow blow which can easily be done in one charge, but I do feel some buyers remorse not stepping all the way up for the 650 5aH mainly because I see more Ego brand equipment in my future and I’d rather have that battery.

    • @jimsaddler942
      @jimsaddler942 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ReelGreenLawn I spoke to the sales person at Lowes yesterday. He said they use the EGO trimmers and blowers to take care of the landscape around the store. He said they started out using the 650 blower with the 5aH battery. However, after a few times, they changed to the 2.5aH battery because the 5aH was just too heavy after holding it for several minutes. I decided to go with the smaller blower, with the 2.5aH battery. I also bought an EGO trimmer with a 2.5aH battery. So now, in the Fall, I'll have an extra battery to use for the leaves without the extra weight! My yard is probably similar to yours. The 2.3aH battery is plenty big enough 95% of the time!

    PPS What about blowing snow off the cars? Will they all do it? Will any of them do it? Thanks again.

    • @ReelGreenLawn
      @ReelGreenLawn  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your key word of “lots” is why I would suggest the 765CFM one. With them being wet, it’s not an easy blow off of material, and having lots of material, that 765 will come with the larger battery. The 670 CFM may also come with the same larger battery, but for $50 more, I’d rather have the most powerful one for what I’m imagining your conditions being.
      My 530 is just enough for the very little blowing I do, and I even sometimes I wish I would’ve gotten the next size up for the larger battery.
      The 530 does have the power to blow wet oak and pine, but not for long periods of time.
      Hopefully that helps. And I’m not sponsored by Ego or anything, just my user opinion.

    I made the same decision. Too powerful a blower will just make all of the debris fly into the air and scatter. Plus the weight of a big blower is too much and battery life suffers. This little 530 is perfect and the turbo is really powerful! If you're doing compacted leaves stuck in bush bases or viny ground cover it might be a tad underpowered for that. But that is a rare and specific situation. Plust= if you're keeping up with your leaves, that should never happen. I have several ego products and have found that a 4 AH battery is about the minimum for me. I have 2 acres to care for.

  • @pondacres
    @pondacres 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'm on the fence between these two models as well, but not because of the 650 being more powerful. I could manage just fine with 530's specs. It's the variable speed trigger and cruise control that's leaning me towards the 650, just not for sure it's worth the extra $120 or so for those features.

    • @ReelGreenLawn
      @ReelGreenLawn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I only have one big oak, a little oak, and a neighbors pine that I have to deal with. Also lawn clippings on the drive. Leaves have fallen off the little oak and the big one is half down. The pine drops all the time haha. That being said, if you’re having to do way more than that, I would be at the 650. My 530 does have variable speed on the top of the handle, but no cruise control that I’m aware of. $120 would be a tough if those were the only features I were needing and the size was ok.

    We purchased the Ego LB6500 leaf blower with 56V CH2100 battery - NOT HAPPY! It runs for a few minutes then shuts off. Starts right back. Shuts off. Over and over. Apparently this is a known problem with the battery. It does come with a warranty and you have to call and go through about a 30 minute to 1 hour wait to speak with someone (yes I tried leaving my name & number for a call back but they never called me back). Once you finally speak with someone they want to go through the whole troubleshooting process. After waiting 45 minutes to speak with someone I asked if we could skip the troubleshooting because I didn't have time (I do have to work!) and the condescending person said no basically. So I guess I'll have to take some vacation time to call. SIGH. I told him tell management if they have a known problem just send a replacement for goodness sake. Best mentality. I bought the 530cfm for $99 a few years back. The 650 is $269 right now, and for $170, that's just outright silly. If the tool works for what you're doing, there's no point in getting the best. Just wanted to add though. If you have another ego even the lawn mower, you could use its 10ah battery on your blower, but the weight isnt going to be off balance.

    I was looking for a lightweight blower for my deck. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxgioZQl3J5wPGAeDINzbieKbT5qomSEx3 There are some huge trees around my house and the leaves and pods drop all over my deck. Having to move furniture around to sweep has become too big a chore. This blower was the answer. It is light enough for this 70yr old lady and powerful enough to blow all the tree droppings off my rather large deck. Thank you B&D. Be aware the cord is not included. I use a 3 prong outdoor cord 25' cord for my 12' x 20' deck. The cord retainer works very well, but don't try to pass the plug through it. That is NOT how it works. You just have to loop the cord and it works great. One of my best purchases. Very happy.

      I just purchased a 530 a week ago for $99.00 without the battery. That's the main reason I bought mine to dry my car after washing it. I have a more powerful Husqvarna that I use for my yard, but its gas powered so I didn't want to use it when detailing my car. I have an EGO hedge trimmer that came with battery and charger so I can use the battery for both tools.

    I bought the 650, which lasted about four uses, then the motor died. It’s was a nightmare experience filing a warranty claim, but I finally got the replacement. It ran for five minutes then that motor died. Yes, you read that right…5 minutes. Now I’m waiting on my third one to be shipped. Hopefully I’ll get a good one one day, but my advice is avoid Ego products all together. The Consumer Report is BS. It’s a cheap China made product. Buy a Toro, which is made in USA.

    I disagree. The stronger the blower, the easier it is to get snow off the cars, front porch, dry the car, back patio because leaf blowers are not just for leaves.

      My 530 works for my yard, but who doesn’t like more power? And yes, if I start switching some more equipment over to Ego, than the 5 ah battery with the 650 would be the better option.

      @@ReelGreenLawn I agree, if most of your tools is B&D, dewalt or something else, we already have batteries for those tools, buying an expensive ego and you only have that one function, no extra batteries or tools that go with that battery. Would be nice if batteries were standardized.

      @@ReelGreenLawn I was thinking I will just stand on a step ladder.. my main use of that power is blowing the leaves and twigs off of my pool screening and the 650 does not have enough power /reach and I was hoping to avoid possibly falling off a ladder.. I have 1 acre of land with many trees surrounding house. Most close to the pool have been cut down but wind still blows too many surrounding leaves/seeds and branches onto pool screening. I use the 650 to clean up my azalea trimmings surrounding my property after the 24" hedge trimmer and pole hedge trimmer finishes.. I have probably 15 ego products and they are the only ones I buy now..all with battery/charger.
