I initially thought this was a Cork thing - like Romanthony's "Make This Love Right (Ball & Chain)" which by most is claimed as the unofficial Cork City anthem, "Bits n Pieces" is another track which ppl over here know so well, never realised how popular the tune is in Scotland until happened to look the track up on Google earlier today and came across this doc! My absolute full respect to the Scots here, what a banging track for an national anthem - this is indeed your baby! :-D
Prins is responsible for so many of the great 90s tunes. An absolute melodic genius. Great to see a mention for Tony De Vit also, one of the greatest djs of all times.
When i heard this song for the first time in a club back in 1994 i fell in love with it instantly. Now, 26 years later, i still listen to it and it remains - at least for me - the best club track ever. Patrick Prins, you‘re the man!
Even my great, great, great grandkids n all their kids will know n LOVE bits n pieces...pity I won't be on the dancefloor with them coz i know I'll NEVER ever tire of that tune . Gny go n listen to it now in fact lol 😁
It was actually Rab S who came up with the idea for Now is The Time. He used to finish all his sets with Bits & Pieces, and thought about doing a harder mix. He knew Scott from some nights he used to run in Cumbernauld and approached him with the idea and Scott produced the track for him.
Patrick Prins was the original artist. He was known by a few other names like Movin Melodies, La Luna and Escrema. For someone that can write and produce Scotland's "other" national anthem. I salute you...........
Great times on the Rave scene back in the day.. Metro was always a fantastic night out.. I always presumed bits n pieces was only popular in Scotland . I had never heard it in London or Manchester when I lived there.. loved this tune since 94 .
My 6 year old son said to me a few month's back. Would I put a song on for him. I said ye what song. He said I think its called bits and pieces. Its now our friday song we play in the car
Couldn't get all of them, but: Various remixes of Bits & Pieces Subliminal Cuts - Le Voie Le Soleil Ethics - La Luna (To The Beat Of The Drum) A Guy Called Gerald - Voodoo Ray Q Tex - Believe Rhythim Is Rhythim - Strings Of Life TTF - Real Love 99th Floor Elevators - Hooked Tom Wilson - Let Your Body Go
This is the type of stuff that BBC Scotland should be making more of
Bits and pieces will be played at my funeral. When my coffin goes down to be cremated, that's the tune that will I will go out to. 🏴🏴💪💪

I never knew it was such an anthem in Scotland. My first exposure to this melody/riff was through Scott Brown's "Now is the Time."
I never knew it was that big in Scotland. Always been a massive tune for me since it first came out. La Luna too.
so glad they mentioned the time frequency in this....love those guys.
Huge huge tune in Dublin too

No mention of how Scott brown played his massive part in immortalising bits n pieces with now is the time? Strange.

Patrick Prins ruined Scotland lmao
Is this just a slower knock off of "Scott Browns Now Is The Time"
Other way round mate
@@djgemmell Yep. Scott sampled the stabs, interpolated the melody and added in a hoover and a Martin Luther King sample.
it's the most hated tune in Scotland, it's utter Pish and has always been Utter Pish
Being Scottish I actually hate that song. Sounds so chavy and hate it whenever it's played.
How’s about you shut up Chris
I guess most people in Scotland just enjoy having no taste lol.
Snob
I’m really not a snob. I grew up with not having much but I just evolved. 😂
