Thanks Shug, that is exactly the help I need when I need it. spent my first night out in a hennessy hammock last night and dang! the ridgeline was like steel! Gonna raise my tree huggers up the tree and let out my suspension. Thank you!
Whoooooo buddy! Thanks Shug, if it weren't for you I'd still be sleeping on the ground like an animal! You truly do such a service with your infotainment videos and I'm grateful for finding you brother. Best of luck to Meg and her mom! And thank your for your service keeping us safe in Sector 7!
Perfect palaver, as always. I have new lenses in both eyes. One three years ago, one last December. It is a quick procedure, no pain, with remarkable results. Meg is gonna love the results. Sorry to hear about mom in law, that's rough. Cheers from Chicagoland!
Went out this last weekend. Eighteen F, coldest night for me yet. Wooki kept me warm, and the Walmart special 20 degree sleeping bag surprised me. But you can't keep your feet warm in sweaty socks. I'm finally convinced. Change your socks, folks.
Hope she has a quick recovery with her eyes and her mom gets better. From her in NC "Oh blessed there heart" Yates is calling you. Be safe and blessed there in sector7
Thanks Shug, great video. Informative, entertaining. Good man for putting family first. We are waiting out the brutal heat here in Florida. For those waiting for spring each year saying I wish it was hot ....believe me, you don't wish it was this hot!!
No doubt! You can have that Florida hot! We have had some good heat here in Minnesota but a cool front of late. Feels nice. I don't mind heat but the sun right on me is not my thing.
Corn Snow! I have learned a new phrase today, thank you Shug! All the best to you and your family. We had a family member fall recently as well and this pandemic makes even normal support exceedingly difficult. Hope everyone recovers quickly.
Finnally found someone to explain the ridge line proper, easy, think I’ll get it now, mine was always to tight. Love ❤️ all your videos, great info. Thanks, new hammock user
Look who reached 100K subscribers !! Congrats there Kemosabe ! (PARTY AT SHUG'S PLACE !!!) Hope all remains well with Meg's procedure. Give her a little pampering from the likes of us'ns too.
Hey Shug I just wanted to say I love your videos. I've been watching for 5-6 years and If it weren't for you, I don't know if I would have gotten back into backpacking. You reinvigorated my love for the outdoors, and for that I say thank you.
Just spent my first night in a hammock last night. A cool 28° F here in Sweden, but I slept warm. Now I have to fine tune the ridgeline. It was tight as a drum but I'm feeling pretty lucky now that I found your new video to help me. Thanks for posting. All semi-secure here in Sector 43!
Good tips as always, went this last weekend and my ridgeline was pretty tight when laying in it. It caused some calf pain but it was my first time out in the xlc. Live and learn
Watching your videos has inspired me to change from a tent to a hammock. I bought a hennesy hammock from ebay, stock suspension. I spent 3 hours trudging through the snow setting this thing up between different trees. Didnt matter how far they were apart or how high i put the straps. The hammock looked sad as it scraped the floor before i even sat in it. Trying trees further apart didnt help. Trying trees even further apart and my hammock was too short. I ended up having to leave before the sun went down because i had no other shelter and the snow was too deep to go to ground. Looking back i suspect the trees i tried to use were too fat. I will try again this weekend
Hey Shug, watched your videos for years and enjoyed them very much. Happy for your retirement but sorry I missed your performances . Wish your family the best, no worries with the cataract surgery, its amazing what they can do. Look forward to seeing more of you on the trail having breakfast from the hammock.
Great vid shug I wore my shug hoodie to six flags great adventure and ran into someone that recognized it also hope everything goes good with your wife's surgery
In Scotland, we have a description for the weather at the time of the year. “Dreich “. Cold and gloomy. It starts November and ends the end of October! Best wishes to you and your family. Stay crazy, fella.
Thanks for tips . I thought I had my ridgeline wrong because it was always in my face,no matter which hammock I was using. You are also a great family man. I really admire that !!!
Yes family comes first shug. I just lost my mother fed 27 she was 82 so with that being said enjoy the time with family ya never know and wonderful video
Gonna hang out a couple nights this weekend down here in wv. Probably send out a couple shug-isms, couple wooo buddies, secure the sector, etc. Thanks for being awesome.
I have missed you brother. I used to watch you everytime a video came out, and somewhere along the way I lost my connection with your channel. Might have been because I gave up on hammocks because I could never afford one and the gear to go camping... its been 8 years or more I have dreamt of it. Anyway, I was watching the marine channel and he reminded me of you, and I had to look you back up. Watched your last few videos and will resub. Again, missin' your antics and your silliness. Your jokes are right up my old man ally lol. Take care and be safe - WOOOO BUDDAY!!

Hope all goes well with Meg’s eye surgery and well wishes for your mother-in-law’s recovery. Thank you for the video, I now have a better understanding of the nuances of the ridge line adjustment. You were looking a bit like Longmire in that cowboy hat!
I like the crampons! They have kept me upright on the ice all winter . . . better than sliding into 63 on my kester. Now Shug, if you wear in the back yard to stay up right you should wear them on the trail too! We don't bend like we did when we did in 1990. ;>) Go class of 58' !!!!!
Good luck for Meg with cataract surgery. My wife and I had that a couple of years ago and was very easy. Especially compared with the knee replacement surgery I had this fall.

Thanks for the tips Shug! All the best for you and the family. I went out on a tarp camping trip last weekend that you gave me inspiration to do on the Canoe Hounds interview, even tried out the Schwarze it is wildly handy. Had such a great time and kept the tarp propped open so I could watch the stars!
Only good thoughts to Meg. I just found out that I have to have the same thing. Everyone says they are glad they did it but I can't get over some stranger putting tools in my eye?? I'm sure all will be fine AND good thoughts to Meg's mom as well. OH YEAH - the video was very informative toooooo! !! !!!

Your gripes about the late winter in Minnesota sound awfully similar to my gripes about the Chicago area for most of the winter... No snow, no ice, plenty of mud. This is brilliant. Now I have to do my research into hanging my hammock, which I haven't used in 2 years. I was hot tenting this weekend in 25 degrees with 25 mph winds. I accidentally burned my sleeping Pad on the stove and ended up trying to sleep on rocks. Sure missed my hammock!!
Berry interesting them Whoopies. I got my right eye done a few years ago. It wasn't so much that cataracts was the problem, it was a bad lens. I didn't want to have to wear glasses to pass the driver's test. So same surgery. The actual couple of minutes that it takes to do the surgery was uncomfortable, ( they told me concentrate on my breathing to distract me from the discomfort). After that, no pain at all. Your eyes are the fastest healing organ in your body. For maybe a week or two when I seen a bright light, ( like an on coming headlight), there was a star effect. that went away. They have bifocal lenses now, but I was told they were annoying, so I went with a far lens and just use reading glasses, (which I now need for the other eye any way). Meg will need to wear an eye patch to bed to keep her from accidentally scratching the eye for maybe a week. Some eye drops for maybe as long. Nothing horrendous. Tell her not to worry or stress. When my other eye clouds up eventually I will get it done. At night, she will only be able to keep one eye on you. If she is getting both done at the same time, you are in even better shape.I have always been warned that I was on a slippery slope. Guess you too.
Love the cowboy! He might need some chew though. It would be fun if he joined you on a trip sometime. I imagine he might be amused by the Mapleking. :) Take care of the family and those krocus'es and all the other pretty stuff is coming soon!
Second winter comes TONIGHT!!!! Oh man sorry to hear about all the medial stuff... That is so tough! Prayers for a speedy recovery! You are welcome to the State park behind my place if you would like to get somewhere quite and close #freeparking. Cheers from Brainerd. Lols for the spit on the tripod!
Had cararact surgery on both eyes. These days it isn't bad, quick surgery, and the benefit is almost immediate. When my mother had it done back in the dark ages of the 60's, it was a different story. Wish her well for us
Awesome video is always my man Best wishes on the family matters hope all goes well with the surgery and before you know it you're going to be out in a Sub-Zero camping trip shortly in about another 3 weeks Again best wishes to the family hope all goes well
