I am unfamiliar with that term but I hope this video helped! I'm still working on speaking in front of a camera but just trying to help people make their own suspension!
Question for you. I want to make one of these out of Zing-It. Are the measurements the same for the smaller rope or should my end loop on the Locking portion be smaller?
I would have to make one to be sure. But I regard to the loops on the end, yes, you want to keep those the same. If a ridgeline malfunctions, you don't have worry about it causing the hammock to fail and hit the ground. So you are able to play around with the measurement a little bit more
@@hanginghighhammocksI made one this morning out of Zing it. Ended up extending the small loop on the constricted end and making it a prusik around the long end so there's an additional grip at the end of that line past the sliding bury. Just tested it out and hold great. Measurements worked out perfectly. Thanks for the excellent explanation.
So,if I use my Dutch betel straps and those fer whoopie slings I could really stretch the hang trees out ? Or is there just a reason I need 13 ta 15 feet? Not 25....
These are mainly used for a structural ridgeline in the hammock. These will allow you to adjust the length of the ridgeline and dial in the most comfortable hang. I do know some people use these for whoopie slings and they will allow you to span father distances between trees. However, the farther your trees span, the higher in the tree you will have to have your tree straps to keep the hammock from being too close to the ground. @@hanginghighhammocks great advice.i didn't put together the fact that I would have ta go higher ta go farther ... witch means my fly would be high or under my strap line... closest is best then?
I typically run my tarp line under my tree straps just to have it closer to the hammock for the best coverage. You want to shoot for trees about 12 to 15 feet apart but I have done quite a bit farther.
If you want to hang a hammock between far trees, you can rig a high tension rope, and use Prussic slings to hang the hammock from the high tension rope. Plus the tensioned line can double as your ridgeline.
Made it even with 6 inch bury on ends end 12 inch bury on constrictor part. Slips with my 70kg (( Made with 3mm (1/8 inch) Chinese UHMWPE. It's too slippy. Just think it is 100 diameters bury and it slips with human weight. Maybe the reason is that small ring doesn't hold
Is 4 inches enough for burring? It is recommended at least 50 and up to 100 diameters to bury after brummel lock. So it's probably o.k. if you use 2mm rope. But anything thicker should be burried longer. According to hownot2 video the strength of brummel with short bury can half. I advice to see it to everyone who want to make something with UHMWPE th-cam.com/video/lhIPeJNWtxE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=oZ049C4q23Bw28ov

Every other video I watched made it confusing to do this. Yours was clear and concise. I got a ridge line built first try. Good vid!
Thank you so much for that! I really am glad to hear my video was able to help you make your own gear! Get Hanging!

Very nice! Thank you!!
You're welcome. Thank you for your time! Get Hanging
Please be so kind and explain the purpose of the tail loop mentioned in 19:28 , I dont understand why it is there. Thanks
It's keeps tension on the bury to prevent you from accidentally loosening the bury and also prevent the tail from hanging down

What is the small eye for? Is it a stopper of some kind?
Just to keep the end from dangling down. It is not meant to be structural

@@colinbarnes705 love yer advice.. while I was searchin around I found slack lines... im not that extreme, but the concept is the same.
How many strands do I want between each transfer and bury?
What do you mean by transfer? If mean when you are making the loops on the ends, you are looking for 4 stands on each side

Are you talking about the bury for the locked brummels?
