I remember the off season when the Bulls got Rodman. No one wanted him. Everyone was afraid he would destroy any team he went to. I was a little nervous he would do it to the Bulls. You knew he was gonna bring drama and problems with him. He ended up being an absolute perfect fit for that team. Could very easily have gone south really quickly.

      - Horace Grant -- Antwan Jameison (33 yr old, not the kinda decent 26 yr old twan)
      - Paxson -- Varejao
      - Cartwright -- Anthony Parker
The Cavs lost 1 guy (Lebron) and went from 61 wins, to 20

G1 changed that series let's be honest. Even with Drexler, the Magic, Nick Anderson, choked in G1. For a young team to lose that way is crippling. A young team is not as resilient to bounce back. If they win G1, it's a totally different series. Nick Amderson game took every last breath out of the Magic.

Shaw makes an excellent point: We'd just pass the ball into Shaq (in today's game) and he'd foul everyone out. (I think he'd have some games with points in the 70s and/or rebounds in the 30s in today's game)

The nba wouldn't let all the players foul out, maybe to bigs Max, that they let foul out you also have take into account 3 points is more than 2 I just watched zion and bi vs Lakers recently zion couldn't be stopped at the rim but the Lakers were hitting every 3 pointer had like 90 points at the half to the pels like 74 or something if prime steph and klay making all their three's it don't matter how many dunks or fouls shaq draw it be fun to watch tho

I was wondering why despite the increase in pace and stats going up, nobody is grabbing, let's say, 18 rebs a game. Big men are forced to guard the perimeter and with so many 3s shot, you get many long rebounds going to guards. I'd be curious to see Shaq in this game style, but on offense for sure he'd kill everyone

    • @RobBThreeX
      @RobBThreeX 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

Rodman really is undervalued in the history of the league. People seem to only remember him for rebounding. His defensive mastery and timely offense seem to be forgotten. He would have been a major factor in a series against the Lakers. Jordan and Kobe canceling each other out is debatable. The Bulls overall roster was better than that Lakers squad. Detroit was a huge problem for that Lakers team but we are to believe that the Bulls would have no answers. Interesting…

    • @gibtherockermusic

@@RobBThreeX Detroit was a problem in 2004. Not sure how problematic they would have been in 2000-01. Shaq was in better shape and the Lakers had more talent in the supporting cast.
Rodman dealt very well with Shaq in 1996, but he couldn't handle him in 2000.
It would be an interesting series! Regardless of the matchups, I tend to consider the 96 Bulls the best team because they had an incredibly stifling defense and more killer instinct than any other team maybe

Rodman was having problems with everyone and nobody wanted him with all his crazy antics! Some say Bulls made a superteam cuz they got him, but those people don't realize the mindset, how much of a huge gamble the Bulls took to get Rodman. Absolutely great credit must be given to the Phil, MJ, and the Bulls org leadership to have the bravery taking that gamble which obviously paid off big time, but I also was damn scared it ended up in disaster! To the credit of Rodman too, I think he really respected Phil & MJ cuz he knew these guys were absolute proven winners so he willingly followed their lead.

I remember that series. As a Bulls fan you hoped for something that deep down you knew wasn't likely. The Bulls were a barely over .500 team for the season. Jordan took them further than they had any business being in the playoffs then. Even though Jordan was rounding into form, the Magic were legit. Young Shaq, young Penny... and what people don't get is that the two of them, Penny in particular, had a full year WITHOUT Jordan in the league where his confidence could just grow. Orlando fully were favorites and deserved to win. It's still shocking how that finals vs. the Rockets went down to me. Shaq deserved better. Dream was incredible but Shaq didn't let up either and was outstanding.

Could he have 8peated or even 9peated (seeing how he might have wanted to hang on for 1 more season to surpass the 1960's Celtics 8 straight)? Agree. No player dominant insde the paint like Shaq yet. I have said that to my players and friends ever since the 3 pt era and fast line up began. It will only return once a very dominant inside force arrives. The line up will change to adjust to the inside game and the game will become more balance(inside and outside game). Problem is big players with potential to dominate the painy do not focus to be dominant inside the paint, instead they practice to play outside and shoot the ball at the 3 point line also.

Brian Shaw forgot Rodman pretty much had Shaq's number. Sure Shaq got his, but he had to work harder against Rodman to do it than he had to against everyone else. And Kobe vs MJ wouldn't be as close as people think. The Bulls would goad Kobe into a 1-on-1 against Jordan every time. This means Shaq would not get the ball in the post. It would literally take away LA's most efficient and dominant weapon.
At that stage in their careers, Jordan was stronger and smarter than Kobe. Bryant wasn't the Mamba yet and didn't have the mental discipline to deal with MJ on the court. We should count ourselves lucky that MJ didn't face Kobe when both were at their primes in a championship series. Michael would be liable to break Kobe mentally if he had to just to win. Kobe would have shot LA out of that series, and would get traded the next season as a pissed-off Shaquille would point out that he didn't get enough touches because Kobe was bent on proving (and failing) that he was better than Michael.

"This is the GOAT, in MJ" [0:15]. When Jordan retired in 1993, he was the best player in the world, but there were easily five other candidates for the GOAT title: Russell, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, and Larry. Michael had only played 8 full seasons, with 3 MVPs, 3 championships, and 3 finals MVPs, plus one DPOY and the ROY. He had only scored 22k points, far behind both Kareem and Wilt.
