RESCUED! 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A sitting since the 70's

- This 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A was used as a racecar in the early 70s. The original three-two barrel setup was removed and replaced with a 4-barrel for ease of tuning. The owner then put the car away, and Danny bought the car. It sat in Memphis where they lived for a while, until they moved to Arkansas and moved the car with them.
In 2022 the barn find was sitting with other cars at their property when a friend Billy bought this, and most of the cars in the video series. This one was the main project and had work done to fix the issues of the car by Dan Peacock, another friend of Billy and I and the individual who gave me the heads up on what was going on.

As an Australian, i cant believe the amount of muscle cars you guys keep finding. Rock on.
I was a mail carrier for the USPS for 5yrs I can assure you...Their still out there 🚗
@@burnsred2172 Awesome!!. I love watching these treasures being unearthed.
Nothing like a long drive looking for rare mopars sitting the thrill of when you find one.
The rear spoiler blackout treatment on the tops of the quarters and trunk are the details that make an original car so very cool.
From rescue to finished - great to see this one saved!
It is sad to see this pattern over and over. Take it apart and put it outside for decades. I’m glad someone is getting some use out of it now. I would love to see what’s next for it.
I think it used to be inside, but the previous owner knew we were picking it up, so he moved it outside for easier loading.
This reminds me of a customers car in the mid 70's ,also a vinyl topped 340T/A six pack,,four Speed .It was darker green Metallic. . His brother had a Jensen interceptor which had a 440Magnum with a 6Bbl set up. The 340 car ,last time I saw it in the 80's was a sad mess without a straight panel anywhere. If only we had the foresight back then to park it away like Danny did .
Ugh! Well hopefully it survived!
Oh wow, I would love to have that!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The whole scene reminded me of the movie "Deliverance". I was waiting for the banjos to fire up LOL ! I'm glad that T/A isn't gonna sit under that damn carport any more and I hope they didn't tell ya you had a pretty mouth ? Thanks for taking us along and the car is in great hands now !
Thank you....
You're welcome!
I love to see a 340 giving a big block fits.
Omg it looks amazing!! Absolutely stunning work
I'm glad it was saved, but I question of how it was, as I see it, semi-restored. It wasn't totally stripped or dipped. You know there is rust inside of hidden places. As the person said about the dutchman panel compared to the trunk lid, "really good paint match"! How can it match, the dirt is still on the trunk. Oh well! He doesn't need to worry, it's been sold.
I don't get it either. Valuable car with a straight up hillbilly body work. Media blast the entire thing, put it on a jig and begin. Its the Internet where non car mechanics can comment on things they know nothing about. Yee Haa
I always liked the challenger better than the cuda, maybe its because I got stuck with this AAR Cuda.
Can't wait for your MCCANN Video,
You and me both!
Good day Ryan,
Absolutely fantastic that a genuine T/A Challenger was reborn again & you were there.
Thank you for sharing.
Love to come to MCCAN but Australia is abit far away, come over & have a beer with you.
Do you need a Aussie Mopar Barn find got a few down here I would love to send over.
Cheers
Louis Kats your number 1 Fan in Melbourne, Australia.🇦🇺 🇺🇸 😊 👍
Thank you! When I get down there I'll keep you posted!
👍
I want to see this car when it is going through its restoration.
Another great vid /awesome rescue !
Glad you enjoyed it
Really such an beautiful car
Insane to find this so intact awesome.
Wow 👌, that's insane
I start my junkers and try to drive them every week. Never let a car sit like that.
What a great find lil rusty but not bad at all, Sweet !!!
I just resubscribe because for some reason there is a glitch in TH-cam and it takes away subscriptions after a while. I was wondering what happened to you. Glad to find it's only the glitch so I'll have to go back and catch up on what I missed. Fantastic find! Love that sublime green 💚
Very odd, well welcome back!
I sure hope this rare ride gets a ...correct... restoration from it's next owner.
340 six pax very cool car
Nice
How is it that all the mopars you find are already sold
Not all
It was actually in pretty good condition compared to some others we see
Somebody could have been driving at car all these years
Oh that's another story
I'd say it took $30k to change owners.
One yr only T/A. 👍
Good conditions to start with
It looked like it, but you can see in the video it needed a lot on the back end
ONE IN CANADA JUST SOLD FOR 210,000.00 AT AUCTION
Is that Canada price?
I would like to find a 72 to 74 charger doesn't have to be in great shape
Wheres the steel crank for it
When that car is done no problem getting over A hundred Grand
No maybe 40;000
En la publicación donde encontré este video, mencionaba que el Challenger estaba en estado deplorable, jajaja se ve mucho mejor estéticamente hasta que mi Dart del 71 jajaja
Do you know what they are doing with the lil red express
It was just thrown back together and sold a year ago.
If you come across any of them in bad shape I might be interested. I need a few parts for mine and don’t really want to use anything that’s not LRE stuff. thanks
Mega Parts in Coon Valley, Wisconsin is selling a few rough LREs
Nice, but will it start?
Oh wait………
Where are the X heads for it?
Nope, the 1970 TA used a special offset rocker head and block , 1 year only and was based on a 360 head even though the 360 was not yet released, they are not interchangeable with any other small block head including the X head.
Is It For Sale
I think he said it sold after he fixed the sheet metal..
Nothing to find here in the UK, only stuff no-one wants!😢😢😢
Wheres the original 727 for it
No idea
To bad it wasn't a 4speed
wouldve continued to sit outside and rot if dodge/stellantis had never brought back the challenger/charger
I doubt that.
@@lovedadonald.100%these cars were getting hard to find in the 80s for Christ sakes. In Canada here they rotted fast, but they were always popular as hell.
@@johnmacdonald5483 Absolutely John, these cars have been highly sought after since day one and I wouldn't have a new one as a joke lol !
Hey Ryan, my sublime T/A is 4 numbers later than this car! 285511
Oh crazy! Drop Billy Harmon a line, he sold the car. Maybe he can connect you two.
Where do I find him? Did they get it running? It would be cool to see the final product.
Or Dan Peacock. Both on Facebook
