BARN FIND Hemi 'Cuda rescued after sitting 40 years!

  • This 1970 Hemi 'Cuda was bought without it's original engine in Memphis in the 70s and has not been on the road in that entire time! It is just an extremely rare QUADRUPLE BLACK 1970 Hemi 'Cuda. It has a black paint, black interior, black vinyl top originally, black rubber bumpers! This sat in a barn for years, and a garage before that. Now this barn find is out of where it has been sitting and will be for sale here in Spring of 2022!
    Half of the video was shot by Jesse Heberling. I was only there for the first weekend before things moved around!
    If you have any interest in purchasing this 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda you can contact the owner Billy Harman on Facebook or by email (Billy@toonervillejct.com)

    These people should receive whatever medal & recognition available to them for having the foresight to save these rare Mopars.

    I had a black 72 Challenger 340 Ralley (I think I spelled that correctly) that I bought in 84. It had W2 race heads and a 727. I wanted to buy a Cuda or Barracude but they were very rare and expensive if you could find one. I did find a 440 Cuda with a stick but the car was hammered with a twisted frame from hard launches. I sold the Challenger 5 years later for $3500. For me the Hemi Cuda was the ultimate muscle car until I took a brand new 04 Mustang Cobra off the dealer's lot for $34000. From then on, the Cude took a back seat to the Terminator. Most fun car I've ever driven, expect those cars to fetch a pretty penny I heard 2 sold at auction for over $100,000. With a blown 4.6 and 6 speed it will wipe the floor with the Cuda with just a few mild mods. Still love the Cuda but the handling of those old muscle cars was frightening 😮 Glad this piece of history is going to a good home, it actually looked to be in pretty good shape considering

      @@AutoArchaeology A W2 conversion was very expensive, even the rocker arms needed to be replaced due to the valve placement. Despite the E body's shortcomings, I loved that black Challenger, it just personified the term "evil". I wish it had a 4 speed but maybe it was for the better as you didn't want to take your right hand off that steering wheel 😯

      @@AutoArchaeology I came out OK but the Mustang’s suspension and engine block was damaged. I don’t know about the other guy. I know his Cuda was probably trashed because he was headed for the KFC’s brick wall and was a good 8’ off the ground. I heard him crash but I was busy with my own problems. The road curved on the backside of the hill so when I came down I had flown over the medium and landed on the on-coming traffic side. He had been on the left of me so he didn’t land on the road. I grew up during the whole muscle car era so I know what we thought were true muscle cars versus “show cars”. Dodge / Plymouth has some pretty fast cars back then but every lusted after Vettes and Chevelles. They weretop tier and Camaros, Firebirds, Roadrunners, Cudas and Mustangs were next level down. Then you get into Chargers, Roadrunners, Super Bees, etc. It was a very distinct pecking order. Glass packs, Hurst shifters, Holly carbs added a little more prestige.

    I read all these comments knocking these guys that have held onto these things over the years and gathered parts. EVERYONE seems to be better equipped to deal with one of these old cars and EVERYONE seems to think that all these cars are living out some death sentence... I am betting not a single one of these people commenting could hold onto it a couple of years without selling it off. YES , it takes years sometimes to gather everything for one of these types of cars. YES its a chore just to live your life and deal with all that comes your way and have this car and all its parts in tow (If you only have one car) at the same time you are resisting the temptation of folks like Dennis Collins and the like who are only messing with any of them to turn a dime . A car salesman is a car salesman , period...
    How much money do you have to throw at a car people ? Just to give you a small idea if what the costs are involved in restoring a high end classic. I just added up what it cost me to do the doors on my R code MACH1 . This is new parts and not all Ford parts and I am approaching 7K on just the two doors and related hardware... These arent the types of cars you throw some junk at so you have this running abomination... Its not Roadkill....
    I have a few mustangs and I am that guy right there... You all would have the same things to say. Ive been housing these things for 30 years now gathering parts . Give it s shot. House the things , worry about them like they are one of your children. Buy every part you can find thats suitable for this type of car . At the same time work a job , raise kids , pay bills try to enjoy your life .
    Justify to your wife you are spending 7K on a set of doors for a car thats in the garage that wont even run after you have all that handled ... Most of you dudes are so nutless you cant even buy a high end car at all. You have to come on youtube and dream and bad mouth the old guys that did manage to hang onto them.
    Im not a Dodge guy by any means and I respect what this guy has done over the years... I appreciate that he has held onto it and was a good steward while it was in his hands...I could care less if he finished it. Its all there and it survived the sharks and bottom feeders...
    This is real life people , not Television.... YES , I worked in TV and I worked those shows for that network... I know the difference very well...

    Nice find but only for the chassis and body. Indeed without engine this Hemi Cuda is not anymore one.... Doesn't matter what the VIN said, this is just a Cuda Now.
    However awesome story.

    • @AutoArchaeology
      @AutoArchaeology  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are incorrect, with the VIN showing the R for the engine designation, it is always a Hemi 'Cuda, far more than just any 426 Hemi.

    • @WheelDirection
      @WheelDirection 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@AutoArchaeology I would so happy to got " just " a 1970 Hemi, as you said. Far more the R stamped on the VIN plate's car without engine lol.
      What makes a car authentic are all those original features. If only one of these elements is missing, the car no longer match with the VIN. Neither more nor less, it's no more complicated than that.
      And am pretty sure that 95% of mopar owners share my advice.
      Let's see some weeks how many " Like " I'll have on this com in the futur to be convinced.
