It’s such a shame they never went ahead and made shangi dawn (the original planned third movie set in Egypt) I loved these two movies frowning up and still do, particularly this scene is so funny

He got to the part about butchering time, and then explained to our class in detail exactly what goes into a sausage. But the worst part? The cafeteria was serving hotdogs later that day for lunch.
There's no way to make a bladder sound appealing. I don't know what the English man was thinking. On top of that, haggis actually boiled in a sheep's stomach, not bladder. And that sausage... wasn't even haggis.
I like it when they include historical people in these movies even if they were inaccurate. Charlie Chaplin was never an orphan, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was a doctor and a soldier not a policeman.

But that wasn't a haggis he bit into. That was a black pudding. If someone told me that I was eating a black pudding, I'd spit it out too.

He then told me about a time when he was helping make blood sausage (which is exactly what Roy finds delicious in this scene into he realizes what it is), and someone put him at a pot of blood that would go into the sausage. He said he was told "this needs to be stirred continuously so it doesn't clot". He told me that experience immediately destroyed any chance he had of ever eating that. I can't say I blame him. 🤮

It's bits of liver and heart minced until it looks like ground mutton, mixed with some other ingredients and then boiled in a sheep's stomach (not bladder), and you don't even eat the stomach. Just what's inside. What Roy ate was a blood sausage (black pudding) which is pork intestine filled with blood and other pork parts. Which makes me gag just writing this. I'd spit it out and need whiskey too.
