@Caradoc g wouldn’t surprise me if Thom did write the fundamentals of it - it’s the core of the song and Thom is usually responsible for the core songwriting. But even if so there’s a difference between being able to write it and being able to play it with such accuracy at this speed, especially with fingers.
What the fuck underrated! I don’t think so you’re wrong! I’m from Bangladesh 🇧🇩, they have huge fan base! I think you’re new that’s why you’re saying this!
I agree. I hadn’t put it together how good a song it was for at least a couple years after it was released. And I’ve been a “super fan” since 1997 when I heard OK Computer.
The bassist is so on fire. All the time, but damn, he’s bringing it with this song. He always seems to be at the heart of the songs. Underrated for sure. He needs some sort of recognition
It is such a beautiful thing to watch Thom when he is completely consumed by a song - he's alone in his own world of sound. When he comes out of it he looks so spent.
There's this little bit at 4:00 that isn't on the studio version of this song. It's small but wraps up the song so fucking well, god. Just goosebumps every time
For me it's about the immediate trauma of a tough breakup, not being able to accept there is now a distance between you and the person you were once extremely close to.
One of the greatest songs in their discography and on HTTT. It's crazy how much I used to watch this on TH-cam a decade ago, and now it's officially on their TH-cam page.
There's a gap in between There's a gap where we meet Where I end and you begin And I'm sorry for us The dinosaurs roam the earth The sky turns green Where I end and you begin I am up in the clouds I am up in the clouds And I can't and I can't come down I can watch but not take part Where I end and where you start Where you, you left me alone You left me alone X will now mark the place Like the parting of the waves Like a house falling into the sea Into the sea I will eat you all alive I will eat you all alive I will eat you all alive I will eat you all alive There'll be no more lies There'll be no more lies There'll be no more lies There'll be no more lies I will eat you all alive I will eat you all alive I will eat you all alive I will eat you all alive And there's be no more lies There's be no more lies There's be no more lies There's be no more lies I will eat you all alive I will eat you all alive I will eat you all alive I will eat you all alive

This song is on my top 5 radiohead songs....... I cannot describe how unique is the progression....it just take my mood and send it up to Jupiter......
This song is absolutely awesome. I didn't even realize how great it was until I was driving on a really long trip, letting all the songs on HTTT play and got hooked. My favorite on HTTT for sure and definitely up there in my overall favorites...
Not even close to the studio version. Studio version is one of the greatest track ever imo. Usually from the basement ones are incredible but Reckoner and Where I End And You Begin are much much better in studio version. OTHERWORDLY
@@nickaglyc I'm the opposite, i thought from the basement versions of Reckoner & Where I End and You Begin were better whilst the studio versions of Weird Fishes, 15 Step, All I Need were better. But with that said, 2 other from the basement tracks that were far superior to the studio versions were Nude and Videotape imo.
Thom is a artist so I think It’s about way more than a breakup. I mean even the instrumentals feel primordial and seething. I think it’s about the separation between God and humanity. It’s God setting up creation and observing it from a ancient earth with creatures roaming, to modern human’s disregard for his creation. I find it interesting that Thom ends his countdown with “7 get to heaven”, before the lines about God being unable to act due to mankind’s free will. Also the end of the song is pretty much mankind’s punishment for everything that has taken course during our time on the planet. The “X will mark the place, like the parting of the waves, like a house falling in the sea” is the final judgement for all of the destruction that humans have caused. “ I will eat you alive” afterward the earth will start to cover up all traces of humans ever existing. This song is a masterpiece.
Amazing all round performance of one of my favourite songs, especially with Colin's driving infectious bass line. Would loved to have experienced live.

Amazing song but doesn't quite fit LotR in my opinion
think it would fit in requiem of a dream or trainspotting
I agree, it would fit any film by Kubrick.
I don’t know….. this doesn’t quite fit the tone of The Cat in the Hat (2003)
Doesn't really fit Night of the Living Dead (1968).
